To demand all my money back?

Travelled 2 hours to get away for 2 nights with the kids. Once we checked in I put everything down in the lodge and went to get some shopping and some food. By time we got back here it was late. No cot for DS and no water in the hot tub. I’ve stayed here numerous times and never had an issue so I just assumed was all ok.

their is no signal so I’m having to walk the kids down to the reception just to try and contact someone.

first time I’ve come anywhere on my own with the kids and it’s just all gone so wrong.

Couldn't you just fill the bath and pretend it is a hot tub
Because a hot tub is merely and outside bath with more risk if infection

*an outside bath!

pavillion1 · 23/03/2023 07:02

im with you OP . The Hot tub would piss me off .

Tryingmybestok · 23/03/2023 07:03

It’s just a shame for the kids because they was looking forward to it. I’ve checked everywhere for the cot no where to be seen, we’ve stayed here twice before and it was put up for us both times.

I’ve had a terrible sleep with DS in the bed worrying about him all night. It was supposed to be a nice little relaxed break and it’s been anything but.

Couldn’t you just discuss the issue the OP is posting about, or scroll on by without comment, rather than judging other people’s holiday choices?

Some people like hot tubs. Some people don’t. Absolutely fine either way but that’s not what the OP was posting about so there’s no need to be snarky. It’s her holiday, not yours.

KateAusten · 23/03/2023 07:07

If you've paid in advance, ask for a part refund

If you haven't paid in advance, I'd suggest paying for only 2/3 of the price

Meandfour · 23/03/2023 07:08

Tryingmybestok · 23/03/2023 06:44

Yes I paid £20 for cot and I booked the lodge with the hot tub. Hot tub is here just no water in it.

How on earth can you not notice there isn’t a cot?

Schnooze · 23/03/2023 07:10

Wait to see what they say tonight. I wouldn’t expect a full refund but you should get the cot money and something for the hot tub back. It won’t be a lot though if they rectify it today.

She did notice. They dumped the bags, went to get shopping and came back, where she then had a look around, presumably to unpack etc.

People love to kick others while they're down but if you'd been somewhere twice before it's natural to expect the same experience.

The trouble is whilst annoying for you it is genuinely just likely to be an honest oversight so I'm not sure why you'd think you were entitled to all your money back. It could be something super simple like they set up Lodge 1 which has the hot tub filled and the cot in but you were given the keys to lodge 2.

The fact you rushed out and didn't notice is annoying and the lack of sleep frustrating but realistically there's not much they could have done last night if you didn't notice anything until reception closed.

Mumtofourandnomore · 23/03/2023 07:14

I can’t believe you’re getting a hard time here ! You’ve booked a two night break and I agree that a cot is critical for a good nights sleep ! Maybe you should’ve checked - but you shouldn’t have to. And if it’s a lodge then clearly a hot tub is a fun thing to have with kids - it’s part of the experience.

No doubt with two small children it’s a pain to pack up and move. I would definitely be asking for a partial refund, at least half based on the fact that you’re exhausted if nothing else.

WilsonandNoodles · 23/03/2023 07:18

It's annoying but surely there's an emergency contact number, what happens if you burnt the place down!

rainbowstardrops · 23/03/2023 07:19

That sounds shit. I hope you get it all sorted today.

henchhen · 23/03/2023 07:24

Sounds annoying, but you didn't notice until late, despite accessing the room earlier on. I don't think you can demand all your money back. Probably the extra you paid for the hot tub and maybe a tiny bit for no cot. I'm not sure what else you want them to do. You're not happy to move to another lodge either.

Dibbydoos · 23/03/2023 07:25

Good luck when you speak to them today OP. Someone messed up and you should get some compensation for sure.

If you've booked 2 nights, stay the second night so you can get some r&r.

sarahh96 · 23/03/2023 07:27

You've paid extra for a hot tub so yes, complain. It usually takes quite a while to fill/treat/balance a hot tub so someone's obviously drained it ready for refill then not done it, they are at fault.
Same with the cot.
If the tub was one you have to fill yourself, you should have been left instructions.
Did they not leave you a welcome pack with any contact numbers?
Where are you staying OP? Not Sussex by any chance?

cartagenagina · 23/03/2023 07:33

Well no, you certainly wouldn’t be entitled to “all your money back”

Why are you being so sarcastic towards OP ? Your comment has a very unpleasant tone about it !

Queenofscones · 23/03/2023 07:37

You mention putting children into the hot tub. You're not supposed to put children under 5 in a hot tub and children older than 5 should be in school...

I wasn't judging her holiday choice, I was offering an alternative to a hot tub, and pointing out that they are infection risks, particularly communal ones or those used by many different people

Calmdown14 · 23/03/2023 07:37

You are right that you should have had these things but a full refund is excessive. Some discount would be reasonable.

Isn't there an out of hours number in the information pack? There usually is

Mindymomo · 23/03/2023 07:40

I’m sorry that your break has been ruined. We learnt years ago, when we booked a villa that was awful, we make sure we have 24 hour emergency telephone numbers and check everything as soon as we arrive, then things can get sorted. If you’ve been there before, you know it’s not normal and unfortunately mistakes have been made, so yes, you should get a refund or maybe a free stay in the future.

It was a 2 hour drive and they got there around 5pm... Sounds like they came straight from school. But you continue, Miss Marple.

Which would make perfect sense if this was Saturday morning but I regret to inform you it is Thursday morning
