What size spoon do you use

to eat cereal?

Having a very important debate with the DCs, they think it is normal to use a teaspoon to eat cereal, I think most people use a dessert spoon. Dd1 says I'm just old and all the young people use the trendy teaspoon.

YABU - You must have a HUGE mouth, of course the dainty teaspoon is the way to go

YANBU - How can you fit ample cereal and milk on a teaspoon, only a dessert spoon will support a satisfying mouthful

Teaspoon. On Tik Tok it's considered a sign of neurodivergence to favour the teaspoon.

Caviarandgelatine · 10/03/2023 20:49

I'm also fussy on which teaspoons I use. We bought new cutlery a few years back and I don't get on well with the "new" teaspoons.

Tourmalines · 10/03/2023 20:49

I love using a teaspoon with a long handle for all my desserts , just seems better somehow , but for cereal with lots of milk it’s a dessert spoon .

anythinginapinch · 10/03/2023 20:49

Teaspoon for everything

WhichSpoon · 10/03/2023 20:49

and @saymynamex you need to stake your claim to your spoon now, or it might disappear when your Dd leaves home!

Teaspoon!

rebekahnorris · 10/03/2023 20:50

Teaspoon as I saw on tv it's a way to not overeat as it takes ages to eat with it. This works

America12 · 10/03/2023 20:51

Dessert spoon , you'd be there forever with a teaspoon

ChickenAndHamPie · 10/03/2023 20:52

I'm in with the soup spoon crew 😁

museumum · 10/03/2023 20:54

Teaspoon???!!!!! Seriously? Do you eat one cheerio at a time? Even my small child’s child-sized spoon is bigger than a teaspoon.

Franticbutterfly · 10/03/2023 20:56

Teaspoon 100%, sometimes a dessert spoon.

justmyluck1234 · 10/03/2023 20:56

I use a teaspoon for everything (if a spoon is needed of course) - the big ones send my mouth on edge 🤷‍♀️

AtleastitsnotMonday · 10/03/2023 21:01

Fruit spoon. The perfect half way house.

SeeNoWeevilHearNoWeevil · 10/03/2023 21:02

Soup spoon. I see there’s a few of us. Teaspoons are too small, and I don’t like dessert spoons because they are too pointy.

TangledBlue · 10/03/2023 21:03

Always a tea spoon. I don't eat anything with a spoon bigger than a teaspoon. I only use the bigger ones for cooking, preparing or serving food with.

Tea spoon makes you feel fuller

Then try a coffee or egg spoon, they're even smaller so you'll feel fuller!

704703hey · 10/03/2023 21:11

Dessert spoon. I'm surprised there are so many teaspoon users out and about!

Giveaschitt · 10/03/2023 21:15

My 8 year old sometimes eats his cereal with the ice cream scoop...

Clever chap.

Okunevo · 10/03/2023 21:17

I think it's in proportion to the size of the bowl. Pasta sized bowl would need a regular spoon, 10cm dessert bowl a teaspoon. Otherwise it's gone before you have a chance to enjoy it.

Dessert spoon for cereal and porridge. Soup spoon for soup. Teaspoon for yoghurt, ice cream and similar.

This is the only way to go. Perhaps with the addition of a latte spoon for Hagen Daaz straight from the tub! 😊

Harrietsgirl · 10/03/2023 21:21

I have three spoons that are midway between a teaspoon and a desert spoon. Perfect for cereal. They have the British Airways logo on them. No idea where I got them from 🤔

Theeyeballsinthesky · 10/03/2023 21:23

Dessert spoon for cereal & soup

teaspoon for puddings as god intended 😆

Someone upthread also has British Airways teaspoons! We'll get the blame if they suddenly start going missing from flights or airport lounges.

We all delight in mocking my step dad for using teaspoon. That's what his Mum gave him, apparently. Wrong.
