Our tumble dryer packed up so me and hubs made a dash to the launderette stuck our clothes on 45 minutes, left thinking nothing really of it we went to do some shopping that took around 50 to find someone had removed all our washing from the tumble dryer?!!

What! We wernt running massively over time and this launderette is not overly even use, It wasn’t even fully dried could of done with maybe ten more minutes! The only thing I can think of is us using “the big tumble dryer” but would you seriously remove anyones clothes at the launderette?!??

Maybe it’s been a while for me but it wouldn’t really enter my mind to touch anyone else’s stuff!

Probs him Op

I'd be there everyday lol

America12 · 18/02/2023 18:15

Completely normal. When was the last time you went to a launderette ?

2013isback · 18/02/2023 18:20

You came back five minutes after your cycle ended and someone had already taken your clothing out, put theirs in, and started a new cycle? Was that person not still in the area? It would make much more sense to have asked them why they chose that particular machine rather than any of the seemingly identical empty ones. People here can guess - they like the warm machine, it's their lucky machine, they wanted one they knew for sure worked, etc. - but no one actually knows.

Also, no one LIKES taking someone else's washing out; it's an inconvenience, it's sometimes kind of icky, and there's always a chance of the person coming back and stropping - but sometimes it's necessary.

I don't think he'd look quite like that these days, wasn't that ad from the '80s? 😂

Leirvassbu · 18/02/2023 18:26

YABU
Normal practice in a launderette.
They obviously wanted/needed to use the big dryer rather than the smaller ones.
You should have been back on time if you didn't want to risk that happening.

Catsbreakfast · 18/02/2023 18:29

How can someone be so entitled? How is anyone supposed to know how long you decided to incovenience everybody else because time keeping is not part of your upbringing? You block the big tumble dryer and act surprised that people need it when you leave your washing beyond the time you paid for. Give your head a wobble.

No and that’d be just fine but there was 8 other dryers?!! Seriously 8! I didn’t want to be any sort of inconvenience but how tf could I have been? There where other dryers?

OrangeBicycle · 18/02/2023 18:37

Surely this is a troll post. No one disrespected your clothes they just moved them

Babsexxx · 18/02/2023 18:39

No they removed them with alternative options that’s the trouble

For the 12th time, you had the big dryer!

You claimed to grasp this a bit earlier. What's happened in the last 90 minutes?

ChrimbleCrumble · 18/02/2023 18:53

You need to be there before the end of your cycle. How is the next person to know you’ll be 5 mins??! You could have been much longer,

If your laundry was still clean, you’re lucky. I once got to the laundry room a few mins late and my clean washing was in the dirty floor!! Never late again 😆

WaddleAway · 18/02/2023 18:57

OP why did you choose the big dryer over all the others?

Speak for yourself.

I'm there to see if the guy upthread turns up and strips off. 😁

He does.

Almost

Babsexxx · 18/02/2023 15:29

No of course but can people not use the minerals in there brain and see plenty of other unoccupied dryers?!

Consider this....
There's five dryers s in the laundrette, all those dryers are in use, including the one you've using.
Mrs Smith's washing machine has now finished, as your dryer finishes it's programme, so Mrs Smith removed your stuff so she can use it for hers.
Meanwhile, while hers is drying and you're shopping, the other four customers return.
Their laundry is done, they've removed it and gone.
You return, see four empty dryers but your stuff has been removed as Mrs Smith is using it.
So, just because the other dryers weren't in use when you returned, doesn't mean that they weren't in use while you were gone.
Yes, it's common practice to remove laundry that has finished its cycle so the next customer can use it.

I meant what was your reason for using the big one. The point being the person who took your stuff out might have had the same reason as you.

No they removed them with alternative options that’s the trouble

Alternative options that cost more (2x small vs 1x big). Why should a regular laundrette user on their own weekly routine/schedule have to either pay more or wait an unknown amount of time for your convenience? I know you already posted IABU but your updates even after that are coming across quite spoilt and princessy.
