Caffe Nero

I visited a Caffe Nero today and was surprised about the amount of dogs in there.
It was a fairly small cafe probably around 15 tables/seating areas. There were 8 dogs, 4 of which were on the chairs/sofa and one that seemed to be getting under everyones feet when they passed.
I think it is really unhygienic for a place that sells food to be allowing dogs to sit on the chairs.

And you can go to a child free cafe.

Problem solved.

I definitely wouldn’t give my money to a dog friendly cafe. I don’t like hairs in my panini or having my crotch sniffed thank you

Where are child free cafes?

I think they'd be pretty popular and well known if there were any

Natty13 · 18/02/2023 12:55

Another weekend, another dog complaining post on MN. Yawn.

I think I have been lucky. I have never had a random child run through my picnic and ruin it. Or had one jump up at me with their shoes. Or had one come up and lick my face. Or wander up to me in a cafe and put their mouth in my bag and nuzzle my skirt. Or poo on the pavement outside my house. Or jump up and bite my son on his arm. Or pick up my tennis ball in their mouth and slobber all over it.

Considering children and dogs are identical, this is extraordinary!

Best post of the thread!

Considering this is a forum for mums, it’s extraordinary how many child-hating people come here.

Er, you’re on Mumsnet..?

You love dogs. That’s why filthy dogs in eating places doesn’t bother you. If you can’t see that, you are being ridiculous.

People whinging about it need to get a fucking grip 🤣

JustDanceAddict · 18/02/2023 13:03

Dogs def allowed in my local Nero. Doesn’t bother me. Plenty of alternatives! I don’t have a dog btw.

I dont know how that is relevant to the query, but to address your actual comment, I dont see evidence of child haters, I see evidence of people that sometimes just want a quiet adult only experience. We can enjoy our grandchildren but not necessarily want kids shrieking and climbing all over everything while trying to have a quiet coffee

Who said anything about hating children?

There aren't any child-free cafes here, so no, that's not an option for me. Believe me, if it was, I'd be there in a heartbeat.

It's very easy for dog-haters to avoid dogs if they want to. What's silly is choosing the dog-friendly option and then complaining that there are dogs there.

I haven’t done that.

Although I was somewhere last weekend which I discovered half way through my lunch was dog friendly. Thankfully it was a well behaved pair of sausage dogs it still I wouldn’t have gone had I known.

If your tolerance for children is so low then either don’t eat out or maybe try to be more tolerant - they’re humans after all and it’s ridiculous to suggest a total intolerance for someone you yourself used to be is normal.

I wasn't talking about you specifically.

The point was - if you don't like dogs or don't want to eat around them, you have the choice to go to a restaurant that doesn't allow dogs, whereas there are very, very few childfree places out there.

I'm not intolerant of children either, I just want to be able to enjoy my coffee/lunch/meal without listening to them scream and tantrum. That kind of behaviour isn't normal and never has been IMO.

@GoodVibesHere and it's good for me as well, we are allowed to have different wants and needs!

Yes that's the attitude Grin So long as your wants and needs are met don't worry about the impact on your fellow humans

SauvignonBlanche · 18/02/2023 14:46

I did t know Cafe Nero allowed dogs, I usually try and avoid the large chains so rarely go in, it’s nice to known that it’s an option - thanks 😊

Not every poster is a mum. Some posters are here because they like to be on a female centric corner of the internet. Other posters are mums but have older children and have little desire to be in the company of small children.

Unless they gave birth to a grown adult, it’s a bit weird that a parent would be anti child.

And whilst you don’t HAVE to be a parent to be on MN it’s also weird to come son a website that literally states it’s “for parents” and moan about children. MN is not female centric BTW. It’s for parents, not mums

No. What’s your point? I have been able to get on with my (non-nursery based) life without kids causing any of those problems listed in my post. I am not a childcare provider.

Yes it’s female centric as compared to the rest of the internet.

Plenty of people who have had children don’t wish to be in the company of children now that their own are grown up.

The point is, by having children themselves they’re hardly in a position to be sniffy about other people having children and bringing them out in public. Couldn’t imagine children of adults saying “urgh little kids” when they’ve had them themselves.

Yanbu, we go to Costa even though I prefer Nero for this very reason.

In our area, Costa is trialling allowing dogs in.

Just because you have children doesn't mean you want to be around them all the time.

And just because children are welcome, doesn't mean they should be allowed to behave badly and disturb other customers.

There are so many child-friendly places to go that it makes sense to take small children there and while they're in the screaming tantrum phase 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you have children you have no right to be annoyed or sniffy about other people’s children being in public places.

and sometimes kids tantrum. So what. I can’t imagine being such a massive wet wipe that this would upset me. I’d just be thinking ‘thank Christ I’m not having to deal with that’
