Aibu - Beyonce- does anyone else not get her?

I feel like she collaborates with people who are "in vouge" and I don't get her music.

Well nobody's trying to make you get her music - I've got quite a lot of it (and I've been to see her perform twice) but I'm sure there's music you have that I haven't got. I don't know what 'vouge' means.

Not everyone will like every music artist. She obviously has a big enough following that lots of people do like and ‘get’ her though. And she’s be going for decades so she must do something right. Different strokes for different folks.

I don't like her never have done and I don't know why. I think her sister Solange is so much cooler & has better music.
Can we remember when Solange punched JayZ in the lift!

I don’t know any of her newer dings but judging by her tickets selling so quickly, i’d wager loads of people do.
Why bother yourself about music you don’t get? Plenty of music artistes that seem soooo popular sound like noise to my ears but i just dwell on it, at all.

Sells herself as some great groundbreaking artiste with Lemonade/Renaissance but it takes 20 people to write one song on her album.

Her voice has power but no emotion or nuance for me.

Got with (and stayed with after he cheated to the extent that her own sister battered him in a lift) a conventionally unattractive but hugely powerful man just because he could make her more famous.

Exploits her kids by putting them in her records/videos/on stage/in stupid outfits.

Her dress sense is abysmal. Tries far too hard on the red carpet and never looks like she has that style/confidence that comes from within. It's all been placed upon her. And is usually a size too small.

She just seems like a manufactured product of the industry rather than a true *pop diva.

Saw her at v festival and she the worst act. Awful

I think she has an amazing voice and I saw her live and it was such a show! I don’t totally understand everything she speaks /sings about though (but I’m not very quick off the mark on that kind of stuff!)

Yanbu. I don’t get the hype either. Can’t believe how much the tickets cost for her show.

Beautiful women, voice and dancer.

But she is no Rihanna .... her artistic style of music and clothes is questionable. I think her mother is her stylist.

Not my cup of tea either. The powers-that-be in the entertainment world push and promote her and others. I don’t get Harry Styles either or a bunch of other celebs. They cultivate connections in high places and so they’re constantly being promoted to the public. Also, they in turn are plucked up by the industry for their talent and used, both sides make money and that’s what it’s all about. Money status power. Not necessarily music.

Sorry to get off subject but re Harry Styles, he always looks like a 48 year old man to me pretending to be an edgy teen 😂 I don’t get his appeal at all.

Don’t see the hype could probably only name one of her songs I’m mid 40s my 13 year old DD doesn’t like her either but different strokes for different folks

My immediate thoughts are that pre Bey/destiny's child, music was very much "I love you", "I need you", "I can ne what you need"

Then Destiny's Child came along and very much blew that out of the water.

I'm not a Beyonce fan as such but her live performance of Love On Top shows just how actually incredible a performer she is.

What do you mean by you don't 'get' her? She's a singer, there's not a great deal else to understand. She's not my cup of tea but plenty of people seem to like her. It's almost as if different people have different tastes in music.

Maybe the music’s not for you, and that’s ok. I’m definitely not going to shell out £200+ to go to one of these shows. But saying she’s “overrated” is laughable.

She is an empowering figure for many, particularly young black women and girls, and a vocal and significant advocate of gender and racial equality. She proudly platforms black music and black culture. She is a phenomenal businesswoman. She established a foundation for survivors of Hurricane Katrina, donated over $6m to mental health charities over the pandemic, and set up a charity that supports further education for disadvantaged kids in the US and abroad and paid for coronavirus testing for families that couldn’t afford it. Like it or not, she and her music have successfully evolved with every musical trend and phase since the mid-90s and she has total and complete creative control over everything she produces, which in the music industry is basically unheard of.

Divisive? Apparently. Not your cup of tea? Fine. Overrated? Not a chance.

Well its a good thing you're not one of the hundreds of thousands of people who have bought a ticket to see her then 😁 I, on the other hand cannot bloody wait!

I find her unbearable. Destiny's Child were great..then she lost something for me..her entire contrived appearance, the hubris just manifested in everything she does.. I don't get the hype at all. Switch off or over when she comes on radio/TV .

I’m extremely jealous, you’re going to see an unbelievable show!
