I feel like she collaborates with people who are "in vouge" and I don't get her music.

Poor Beyonce, not sure how she'll get to sleep tonight.

Lol. She’ll just have to sit up counting her good fortune; her millions and billions, her houses, her family, her charities….zzzz

Got with (and stayed with after he cheated to the extent that her own sister battered him in a lift) a conventionally unattractive but hugely powerful man just because he could make her more famous.

God this thread is like Meghan round 2

I agree. A lot of it is.

Odd isn't it. Something about both women seem to trigger the bitter betties on here so much. Now if I could onlyyyy put my finger on what it could possibly be

pazwaz70 · 12/02/2023 06:00

@ellieshadfun I'm not condoning violence! I merely mentioned the incident. So please don't reply with a passive aggressive answer!

stayathomer · 12/02/2023 08:32

I lost respect for her after she sang the line "now eat the cake Anna mae".
I couldn’t believe that- I actually googled to see if it meant something else? It actually is one of the most baffling things ever and probably up there as a reason I feel I don’t ‘get’ her- because I feel I probably just don’t understand her words. (I can be slow at picking up on these things!!)

On a mattress of hundred dollar bills, I guess.

So you googled it and still think she sang it ? Numpty

Cornelious2011 · 12/02/2023 10:17

I don't get her either. The wealth she and jay z has amassed is disgusting and immoral. I feel that way towards other billionaires too.

I saw her in concert at a festival and she was rubbish live too.

ChangedmynameagainforChristmas · 12/02/2023 10:25

@Cornelious2011

So you don't like her but you saw her in concert?

A lot of Beyonce bashers on this thread talking themselves up Hmmm

ssd · 12/02/2023 10:34

Maybe you need to be clever and woke to get her? Adele was gushing over her when she won an award she reckoned Beyonce should have won. It was all crying and blowing air kisses. Cringy as fuck but they enjoyed it.

How is saying that you paid some amount of money to go to a concert "talking yourself up"? She doesn't have a series of challenges you have to complete to prove that you are in some way fit to stand nearly a mile away from her in a field.

ChangedmynameagainforChristmas · 12/02/2023 10:52

If you don't like a performer why pay mega bucks to go and see her bro? It does not make sense. It Does Not Make Sense

StephanieSuperpowers · 12/02/2023 10:54

Your friends says, let's do this and you think fine, sure, no objection, we might have fun.

But I'm confused about why you're calling me bro. I'm a mother in my 40s.

Adele has said she’s a Beyoncé fan loads of times, has been since she was a child.

@ChangedmynameagainforChristmas the post you’re talking about says at a festival, it’s pretty common to not be a huge fan of every single act in a festival line up.

I wouldn’t pay the huge price her concert tickets are to go see her, I’m not keen enough on all her work to do that, but if she was at a festival I’d watch because I don’t dislike her stuff, some of it I like and some I don’t.

UnctuousUnicorns · 12/02/2023 12:11

OMG, I'm just imagining being trapped in a room with both Beyoncé and Adele, and forced to listen to them both wailing - I'd think I'd died and gone to Hell. 😅

ChangedmynameagainforChristmas · 12/02/2023 13:14

That additional performance last night where they slotted Adele in was an insult to the eyes and ears. Miserable song whiney voice and a face like a slapped arse

Woke? The dog whistles are coming out now...

Women celebs get a lot of hate on here. I never see the same about men. I’m not a Beyoncé fan but I’m probably not her target market. I can appreciate her talent though and I totally understand why people like her. She’s a black woman and many people look up to her. She’s broken down barriers and all people can hear is whine that she didn’t write her own songs. I wonder what they do for a living and what sort of music they like.

I notice that and it is unsurprising. Most of it sounds like what you expect from the mean girls in secondary school, not mature, adult women.

AngeloMysterioso · 12/02/2023 15:28

What barriers did she break down that hadn’t already been broken down by Whitney Houston, Lauryn Hill, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Tracey Chapman, Diana Ross to name just a few?

Every generation needs its own icons. However groundbreaking someone is in their own time, newer times need new figures. They did it then, but who's doing it now?

There's nothing new under the sun anyway.

I mean... I think that she doesn’t write the songs is a legitimate “whine” tbh.

Not because of some music snobbery, but because it means I tend to only like some of her stuff.

I find with people who write their own stuff, I either mostly like them or don’t.

Also, from listening, I could be wrong, obviously, but lemonade sounded like she’d actually done more on it and it was a much better album for it.

Still lots of barriers to go

ReneBumsWombats · 12/02/2023 16:04

When it comes to black or multiracial women, there will always be more barriers to go. Just having minority women as huge and current successes and superstars is important. Yes, Aretha was incredible, but you can't say that her existence means we don't need more powerhouse black singers 50 years on!
