to think that 30p Lee is a scumbag

Listen to his interview with BBC radio Nottingham. The man is a liar and aggressive when challenged. How on earth was he elected in the first place. He goes on that attack when questioned about uncomfortable facts. Still says that no one on £30000 should need a food bank. Has he heard how much housing costs are, how much food and fuel prices have risen?
Sorry, cant create a link to the interview but its on the BBC news page this morning.

He was elected 'because Corbyn'
People preferred a former miner to a London left wing guy who was seen to not respect the queen.

But yes he is v unpleasant, and am surprised Sunak thinks otherwise.

Scumbag is being generous. He’s vile.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 09/02/2023 11:10

Yes, he is a twat and has been for a long time.

The interesting thing about this story to me is that Sunak has shown such poor judgment in promoting him. You'd think he might have learned some lessons by now about surrounding himself with liabilities, but apparently not.

ThomasWaghornsConeHat · 09/02/2023 11:11

He did sounds very aggressive in that interview. I'm not sure what kind of person votes for people who can't listen, answer or barks over someone asking uncomfortable questions. Yes everyone lies, we all know that. We don't all publicly lie while being in the public eye and set that lie up. Makes me question his intelligence.

IClaudine · 09/02/2023 11:12

The government is already distancing itself from his remarks about the death penalty. Sunak has really messed up, what was he thinking?

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 09/02/2023 11:14

Oh he's an awful little scrote. Like a character from The Fast Show. Sunak probably patronisingly thinks that the Labour to Tory Red Wall voters will all identify with Lee. It's definitely not going to back fire at all. It'll be gaff after gaff with 30p Lee.

Phos · 09/02/2023 11:21

He is very popular with his constituents.

Remind me not to visit Ashfield.

I hope he is booted out at the next election.

RosaDeInvierno · 09/02/2023 11:32

Still says that no one on £30000 should need a food bank.

But this is not a ridiculous suggestion (taken alone) but with the cost of living its not

VenAqui · 09/02/2023 11:36

What an idiot. And an aggressive one.

Dodecaheidyin · 09/02/2023 11:38

Does he always sniff like that or is it just when he's trying to intimidate a woman?

Mumsafan · 09/02/2023 11:39

he is vile

I don't think he will be. I follow him on Facebook, not a particular fan, more of a "whatever is he going to come out with next" thing, and they love him.

mumda · 09/02/2023 11:40

"no one on £30000 should need a food bank"

They do perhaps because of (in no particular order)

  1. Debt
  2. High cost of housing - rent has massively increased in recent years
  3. Inability to manage money
  4. Single parents with no support from absent parent
  5. high cost of child care
  6. Taking on monthly payments at a higher wage (eg: Car loans) and hours being cut

A statement of affairs from people is the way to see why people on 30k need support. Only when you do proper analysis will you find out reasons.

He is not unreasonable to think in an ideal word that people on 30k shouldnt need to use a food bank
He is extremely unreasonable not to accept that actually (some) people on 30k do need to use a food bank!

He is very popular with his constituents.

Sadly that doesn't surprise me.

I bet his heavily Brexit voting constituents think all the immigrants should go home, support the death penalty and think asylum seekers should be sent to Rwanda too.

It says a lot about them really.

orangegato · 09/02/2023 11:43

2k net per month should realistically be enough as people on benefits get less? And if children they’d get Child Benefit too. Rent and bills have increased but it’s also increased for people on 15k, 20k etc…

They do mention boats in the channel and Rwanda a lot from what Ive seen.

He is very popular with his constituents.

All MPs are, by definition, popular with their constituents.

They can also be twonks. The two aren’t mutually exclusive.

I would not judge the good people of Ashfield based solely on Crazy Peg who lives behind the bus station and similarly I would not judge them based on this absolute rocket.

Crikeyalmighty · 09/02/2023 11:50

@forageintheforest I'm originally from that neck of the woods. I'm afraid he is popular because he and his views are an exact replica of 70% of the males of that constituency and most of that area for 15 miles around.I feel sorry for the women in that area , when the choice isa lot of Lee Anderson's. For anyone who says I'm from that area and he doesn't represent me and my partner, be honest with yourself, maybe not you but a vast percentage of people in that area will agree with him. Of course he doesn't think £30k warrants foodbanks- it probably doesn't in that area. My son and his partner bought a lovely 3 bed semi in an ok area for £175k. You can rent a decent house for £800 a month and there are vast amounts of social housing. Try £30k living in the Home Counties because your job is in that area and rents and house prices are at least double, often triple.

IClaudine · 09/02/2023 11:54

His majority is not massive - 5,733. Turnout was 62% and only 39% of those voted for him. So more people voted against him than for him. Mind you, the person who came second is a big Brexiteer too.

Crikeyalmighty · 09/02/2023 11:55

@FuckabethFuckor Im afraid I am judging- because he is not untypical- same goes for Mansfield's MP, just as I judge swathes of Stoke on Trent voting for Gullis. I do appreciate there are pockets who simply don't think like this and think he's a total twat but it's not the majority or he wouldn't be voted in. Same goes for the arsehole rich posh Tory when we lived in Windsor- doesn't do surgery's, currently under investigation for big tax stuff . Got in by a big majority- even when this was known.

Crikeyalmighty · 09/02/2023 11:57

@IClaudine more people didn't vote against him- they just didn't vote. Of the ones that voted he had the majority vote. I feel very sorry for all right headed intelligent people who end up being represented by total fuckwits of whatever party!!

Sorry, cant create a link to the interview but its on the BBC news page this morning.

I listened to that too, him saying print it all or none of it, backfired on him big time, we heard it all and he still sounds like a lying toad
