Vulva owners?!

Just came across this (no pun intended!) on Insta. Can someone explain to me how this company can use the “by mums for
mums” advertising ploy yet then go on to reduce us to “vulva owners”?

Vulva owners?!
Vulva owners?!

Are they sure they co created it with Mumsnet with language like that?

FellOnMyArseToDay · 01/02/2023 19:17

I much prefer cunt wielder. As organs the vulva and vaginal are formidable I am more than my cunt. Shit company and tbh looks like a shit masturbation toy/aid.

NewBootsAndRanty · 01/02/2023 19:19

Don't forget "people with wombs"!

Fucks sake. Not sure how mumsnet have missed the very clear message that WOMEN generally fucking hate being referred to by their body parts but it's putting me right off this site.

Those posts weren't written by MN staff. They may be blissfully unaware their name is being brought into disrepute.

FKATondelayo · 01/02/2023 19:20

Never mind vulva owner. The ultimate car as lady garden metaphor has to be this:

They also refer to 'people with vulvas' in one of the other comments - they're going for the woke bingo full house aren't they?

Guiltycat · 01/02/2023 19:22

Why just women? And why just our vulvas?

Should shoe shops start aiming their advertising at 'foot owners'? After all, not all people have feet.

'Hair owners' for hairdressers? Not all people have hair.

'Arsehole owners' for toilet paper?

Funny that this bollocks only ever seems to be aimed at women and our sexual organs and biological processes like periods. Almost as if there is a misogynistic underbelly to all this 'kindness'.

Hmm.

ArcaneWireless · 01/02/2023 19:23

Don't forget "people with wombs"!

And therein lies the problem with breaking us down into parts.

WOMEN who might enjoy a ficher might be minus a womb.

Woman/women is enough. It really is.

Wow, what an unpleasantly sexist article.

Newsthump is satirical spoof news 😁

Thesenderofthiscard · 01/02/2023 19:24

Oh, I would get one but my vulva is rented not owned…

Happysalley · 01/02/2023 19:25

Vulva owner! 🤣🤣🤣 mine enjoys long walks in the countryside, curling up by the fire, and chasing squirrels up trees. She only eats premium vulva food and I leave her with a trusted friend if I go away on holiday. Owning a vulva has massively improved my mental health.

unsync · 01/02/2023 19:25

JacquelinePot · 01/02/2023 19:26

"I dunno. I'm duly concerned that the term women is becoming taboo, but I can't get too worked up at this. They were talking about mothers but clarified in response to a question that anyone with a vulva might enjoy it."

I disagree because the word for those people is "women".

And it's not about being "inclusive" because it's only women who get the invisibility-ray treatment.

The inclusivity argument (and I know this poster didn't say it but it's the one that's always used) might hold more water if organisations were always calling men "penis-people"

Also, this company can GTFO

EzzieM · 01/02/2023 19:26

What the actual fuck.

They’re trying to sell us stuff while insulting us? What a refreshingly unusual approach to marketing.

Happily there are plenty of places on the internet where I can buy a vibrator from a company who doesn’t refer to me in a reductionist misogynistic way.

Well if they didn't do some basic research on this company before they agreed a collaboration they can come on this thread, tell us that and then go tell the gender woo idiots to do one can't they 🙂

Somanyquestionstoaskaboutthis · 01/02/2023 19:27

It would be good if mumsnet HQ could comment on this? Do they agree with being associated with a company reducing us to our body parts/car choices?!

ArcaneWireless · 01/02/2023 19:27

Look what my owned finger can do 🖕🏼

ErrolTheDragon · 01/02/2023 19:27

Hm... The lack of conversation and resources on the topic is leaving women and people with wombs feeling side-lined as sexual beings.

Yeah... what about mothers who no longer have a womb? These idiots have sidelined them into oblivion.

TangledWebOfDeception · 01/02/2023 19:27

ArcaneWireless · 01/02/2023 18:32

I’m not sure I own a vulva as such. It came with the rest of me.

if I have to list everything else I own, I should imagine I’d be too tired to ficher myself frenzied. It’d be the same as counting sheep.

I tend to think if I own something, I’ve made a conscious attempt to acquire it. Does anyone ever suggest you own your heart? Your liver? Proud owner of a spleen?

And regardless of the product, I won’t be buying anything from a company or individual who can’t understand that the word woman is enough to describe their target market.

It doesn’t need a prefix. It doesn’t need anyone to break us down into component parts.

And if they don’t get that, they can insert their product and literally? buzz right off.

THIS.

TwittleBee · 01/02/2023 19:28

Nah not for me that now

Happysalley · 01/02/2023 19:29

Also, why are trans women allowed to say women but biological women are not? Trans women are 'women', but women are vulva owners, menstruators, people with wombs, etc.

TangledWebOfDeception · 01/02/2023 19:29

Also, for the love of god stop making up stupid terms like Vi-Curious.

Just cringeworthy.
