Vulva owners?!

Tallulah28 · 01/02/2023 18:16

Just came across this (no pun intended!) on Insta. Can someone explain to me how this company can use the “by mums for
mums” advertising ploy yet then go on to reduce us to “vulva owners”?

Vulva owners?!
Vulva owners?!

I'm surprised Mumsnet are teaming up with anyone to sell products so blatantly. Was it though a specific survey or just by mining our posts?

cofeetablebook · 01/02/2023 19:29

Why would MNHQ care? This website is a business not a public service tool.

Newsthump is satirical spoof news 😁

Yes I know. It's still unpleasantly sexist - the joke is 'how dare mums stop thinking about baby food' and depends on the stereotypes of mummies being brain dead Karens who are easily brainwashed.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/02/2023 19:30

Well if they didn't do some basic research on this company before they agreed a collaboration they can come on this thread, tell us that and then go tell the gender woo idiots to do one can't they

Hopefully they will - I've already reported the thread to ask for clarification that they don't approve of dehumanising language. If others want to report a few posts in similar vein please do!

Because women in general and mothers in particular are their main users but also content creators.

MassiveWordSalad · 01/02/2023 19:33

I don't think Love Honey will be worrying about competition from these clowns. They can fuck off with their wokery.

I mean, how thick is it to try and invent something specifically for mothers, who have done the most biologically female thing you can do, and then dehumanise them by calling them vulva owners??

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 01/02/2023 19:34

Because some vulva owners who have given birth don't like being called mums - they might prefer dad or something else. Vulva owners, uterus havers, menstruators is the only reliable way to capture people who were born as women but no longer think of themselves as women.

Ok - so some people whose bodies include a vulva don't want to think of themselves as women. And the answer to that is to refer to all women as vulva owners? And the many thousands of women who dislike being referred to thus can just fuck off, because unlike the special people who no longer consider themselves women, their feelings about how they are referred to don't matter at all? Why? Why don't women who want to be called women matter? But people who have vulvas but don't want to be called women do? Why?

This.
And anybody who was born a woman ( girl) is still a woman even if they don’t like to think they are.

Does anyone really think of themselves as a uterus haver? I am a woman if you’d like to sell me stuff based on my sex then you are trying to sell to women. If you call me an owner of a body part, or a haver of a body part or a person who menstruates then I will not buy your product because I feel these terms are dehumanising.

I do look forward to seeing just for mens next campaign. Just for penis possessors. Just for sperm producers. Just for testicle havers. It’s odd how men get to keep their language, whereas women are supposed to be kind.

IcakethereforeIam · 01/02/2023 19:39

I came across the term 'scrotum gantry', used sarcastically, but I think it should be popularised.

Cocobutt · 01/02/2023 19:39

Sounds like they’re afraid of saying the word women which is ridiculous.

I don’t get offended easily but the ‘for mums’ marketing strategy gives me the ick and even though I’m a mum I definitely won’t be buying it.
I can’t see any other woman who isn’t a mum buying it either.

Newtonsnipple · 01/02/2023 19:41

I think anyone who has grown a baby in their uterus and given birth, clearly wasn't all that dysphoric in the first place.

And I think it's horrific if they then try to gaslight/force their child into not thinking of them as their mother.

There isn't anything in the world MORE womanly, female, whatever you want to call it.

Wailywailywaily · 01/02/2023 19:41

Can someone advise on the best way to sell my vulva? It just gets me in so much trouble and I want rid

TwigsAndPebblyShit · 01/02/2023 19:42

I haven't owned a vulva since 2005 when I part Ex'd it for a Golf

Hadalifeonce · 01/02/2023 19:45

This is the second thread about this company today; they also used 'people with wombs'.
I think MNHQ ought to have a word about their wording as they site Mumsnet in their advertising.

Cocobutt · 01/02/2023 19:46

I agree.

Mine keeps running away, so I have to pin up ‘lost vulva’ posters on all of the lamp posts.

I wonder if being a penis owner is so difficult.

Exactly, this is because we're dealing with narcissists.
Them - "I want to be called X you must call me that because anything else would be extremely offensive and I will use the law to protect me oh and also also I'm going to call you Y"
Women - "We don't want to be called Y"
Them -"OMG don't be so pathetic it's only a word 🙄"

howmanybicycles · 01/02/2023 19:48

If I own it, can I sell it? At my age I often have little use for it. What is the going rate for a second hand female body part? One no so careful owner.

Fucking ridiculous.

If they have such little understanding of their audience that they even use the correct word, I’m not sure the product will be much good.

Good luck to them trying to build a business on sales to mums who don’t want to be called women.

ArabellaScott · 01/02/2023 19:50

Well they can fuck off.

I really want a Volvo now.

I’ll swap it for my vulva.

I can take the dog to the beach in a Volvo. Take shopping home in a Volvo. Take my mam out in a Volvo. I can polish a Volvo till it gleams.

A polished vulva might nip.

There’s no T cutting a vulva!

Should I be worried? I haven't seen mine for a while, not has anyone else.

SchoolTripDrama · 01/02/2023 19:51

And what the hell is a 'mom?!' Are we American now?!?!

ArabellaScott · 01/02/2023 19:51

What kind of fucking idiot would try to appeal to Mumsnet and use that language in their adverts?

It's enough to make you clutch your anal pearls.

I've got a second hand 55 year old vulva available? Well used but runs fine.
Roomy. Very roomy. No longer needed.

I’ve got one too! Mines low mileage too….
