Teacher vaping in car

KittiKati · 25/01/2023 20:36

I collected my child earlier from school as they had a medical appointment and as I walked back to the car I noticed my child’s piano teacher vaping in her car. There was no one else about but would this bother you?

OP posts:

You don't expect the teacher to not smoke for the full day do you?

It's really got nothing to do with us parents what the teachers do in their own car, on their breaks. God if I had to put up with tens/hundreds of kids I'd probably start to smoke.

If my child was young enough to get picked up from school then she probably wouldn't notice it or if she did I'd take the opportunity to tell her why it's dangerous.

qwertykeyboards · 25/01/2023 21:57

Mumsnet never fails to surprise me 😂

Owlyhedgehog · 25/01/2023 21:57

What about teachers that smoke? Surely you cant stop them having a cigerette on their lunch break?

GrinAndVomit · 25/01/2023 21:58

You want to complain about an adult vaping in their own car?
Mind your own business

saraclara · 25/01/2023 21:58

Just a word of thanks to all the sensible non-teachers on this thread!
You've made this non-smoking, non-vaping retired teacher (and parent/PIL of two teachers) feel a lot better!

As an unmarried teacher, I got some really interesting questions from pupils (high school) about how I got pregnant and I’m not married.

I explained I got pregnant the same way as everyone else.

Shock horror.

When my class found out I was pregnant (and I was known as MISS Orange), I had a parent that suddenly started sending me bible quotes every now and again 😅

I'm going to hazard a guess that OP is bitterly disappointed that nobody was impressed by her stealth boast that PFB plays the piano.

I'm with you OP. Absolutely don't think teachers should vape on school premises during the day. Awful example. And I'd bet that it isn't allowed hence hiding in her car.

What do vaping parents do with their children then outside of school hours, blindfold them? Do they have to cover their eyes when walking around public areas in case the child is set a bad example?

ultrablue · 25/01/2023 22:01

Once saw one of my DC's head of dept absolutely trashed on a night out... I may or may not have mimicked my daughter and shouted "Sir, Sir, Sir" after he crashed down on the dancefloor.. yeah I did Glad he had a great night out

Blueblell · 25/01/2023 22:01

Proper fags are much better!

Hickerychickery · 25/01/2023 22:02

What next no coffee in the staff room? As caffeine is bad for you it may set a bad example??? I agree why don’t we ban teachers who vape, (discretely in their car without expecting kids to be about). Sack all teachers who eat Cake and coffee in the staff room in case a child should see the bad example. Ban overweight teachers they set a bad example.
teachers who visit pubs on weekends in case a student came in (for their dinner of course) and saw the teacher with half a lager.
sack teachers who do not exercise enough.
sack them all, other than those who drink filtered water and eat organic lettuce.

Retention problem, what problem???

I hope you are perfection yourself op. 🙄

and pull your head out of your entitled backside and realise you don’t own your child’s teacher.
oh and get some compassion, she looked upset your criticising her.
I hope you are ashamed.

BankOfDave · 25/01/2023 22:03

Utterly, utterly ridiculous OP.

Serena1977 · 25/01/2023 22:04

My colleague smokes actual cigarettes on school premises. Off for 'fresh air' at 3.30pm checking for stragglers on the playground. Doesn't matter one jot to me and the rest of our colleagues.

ConkerBonkers · 25/01/2023 22:05

Teacher is human. Shocker

menopausalbloat · 25/01/2023 22:08

Woah, this cannot be a serious question.

SallyWD · 25/01/2023 22:09

Honestly! Can't believe you even gave it another thought, let alone started a post about it. It's not like she was shooting up heroin.

It’s illegal to smoke on school premises. The school employee should be sacked.

Frazzled25 · 25/01/2023 22:12

God this is the kind of shite that’s on our Facebook parents group. Perspective required

xprincessxjanetx · 25/01/2023 22:12

No, of course not.

Really? Thank goodness I'm retired now. And no wonder we have a teacher retention problem.

U don’t even know what to say to that! Nefarious orange indeed! 😂

I went for an interview when pregnant with my first. They continually referred to me as Mrs. - I corrected them every time. Weirdly, didn’t get the job. It was in a catholic school though so maybe slightly more understanding.

StressedToTheMaxxx · 25/01/2023 22:16

Unless it was heroin that she was vaping, then no, it wouldn't bother me.

beatricebuck · 25/01/2023 22:16

Absolutely none of your business.
No more than you being an interfering bore is hers.
