Teacher vaping in car

KittiKati · 25/01/2023 20:36

I collected my child earlier from school as they had a medical appointment and as I walked back to the car I noticed my child’s piano teacher vaping in her car. There was no one else about but would this bother you?

OP posts:
Seryse · 25/01/2023 22:55

Absolutely none of your business. They were in their car. Massive, massive overreaction on your part. Wind your neck in OP.

HallwayDoor · 25/01/2023 22:55

Even if they were smoking in their own car, not brilliant to go back smelling of smoke but obviously needing the break. And not in school.

BeginningToLookALotLike · 25/01/2023 22:56

She is not a Victorian household servant, you know. It is none of your business,

KittiKati · 25/01/2023 20:40

Is vaping not serious then like smoking?

Had she been smoking in her own car it would still not have been your business unless the school had a policy of no smoking within the school grounds. I often wonder if these hyper critical parents are as beyond reproach in their own lives, I assume your poor child never sees you drink wine or hears you use some of the words common on MN.

CambsAlways · 25/01/2023 22:58

you are having a giraffe come on take a chill pill

frankie001 · 25/01/2023 22:59

Least we’ve moved on from the days where we had those chocolate cigarettes! We looked well hard!

When I was in school a huge cloud of smoke gushed out into the corridor whenever the staff room door opened.

Shrug...

ExHs school in NI had a smoking room.

for the pupils

Witlof · 25/01/2023 23:01

I work in an primary school in the NL. I LOVE the pupils, each one of them. Even if they are annoying and disturbing the lesson, I love them. They are kids! They don't disturb to make my job harder but because of other reasons. I want to help them, teach them, show them that better behaviour will be easier for them. And it works! Even if t means I have to home tired after 10- 11 hours of being there, i dont mind. But parents make me want to quit. And the parents are not half as awful as this comment.

BigPurpleArm · 25/01/2023 23:02

Get a fucking grip OP

BurtonsRevenge · 25/01/2023 23:03

You can call the non emergency police line for things like this. I hope you did the needful.

ShandaLear · 25/01/2023 23:05

Jeez, let the woman have a wee cape in peace. She’s not harming anyone.

ShandaLear · 25/01/2023 23:06

A vape, not a cape. Though maybe also a cape, for style.

HughGrantsHair · 25/01/2023 23:08

You're not in Wales by any chance OP are you? Because it's not legal to smoke in a car, in a school carpark in Wales

ouch321 · 25/01/2023 23:11

Back in the day I think OP would have been one of the people who denounced their neighbours as witches to be burned at the stake if she thought they'd looked at them in a funny manner.

I know you are joking but I’ve seen a teacher drinking coffee every single morning. Caffeine is a stimulant and it’s just not appropriate to use mind altering substances around children. They are very easily influenced and it’s a drug, isn’t it? The side effects are really dangerous - it can increase the heart rate. I even see the teacher drinking coffee throughout the day, it’s not just one per day it’s multiple cups, every day.

The teacher is me.

In Winter I would allow my Year 10 form to stay in our form room if the weather was bad and eat their packed lunch etc., I always stayed in my room for lunch. One Mother complained because her dear child didn't like the smell of coffee, would I stop drinking coffee!

GoldilockMom · 25/01/2023 23:12

I wish parents would take their responsibility more seriously - Maybe this teacher had just been bitten or dodged a flying chair? Maybe one of the students told her to F off?
Maybe she doesn’t give a shot anymore because she’s fed up of interfering parents.
Either way - none of you business.

What do you do for a living OP? Maybe we can snoop on you and check your aren’t setting a bad example?

OldFan · 25/01/2023 23:12

@KittiKati Vaping is relatively wholesome, isn't it? It's not like she was smoking a spliff.

FeelingwearyFeeelingsmall · 25/01/2023 23:13

I'm old. In my 60s. Have never puffed or smoked or vaped on anything ever. But I m totally aware that other people who have interacted with my DC have. Including my parents, their teachers and and other significant influencers. They have also sworn , littered and blasphemed.

our kids live in the real world and our job is to prepare them for that. Not mollycoddle them in a fantasy land of adult perfection.

VladmirsPoutine · 25/01/2023 20:59

Not only do I think you should write to the head I also think you should get in touch with your local MP? Is there a safeguarding lead at the school too who you can report to?
Perhaps even make a petition for other parents to sign. If she vapes then she must also do cocaine regularly so I'd also ask school to do a background check on her and her spouse if she has one.

Surely she needs to immediately do a drug test too, won't someone think of the children.

MademoiselleTrunchbull · 25/01/2023 23:15

Wow

Sirius3030 · 25/01/2023 23:15

Can you not report her to the school and see if you can get her sacked from her job?

OldFan · 25/01/2023 23:16

Most vapers do it to try and cut down/stop smoking, don't they? It might look more edgy but it's actually a somewhat healthier alternative. I would see it her actually doing something to try and have a healthier lifestyle @KittiKati

Thedogscollar · 25/01/2023 23:16

@KittiKati has gone to bed as up early for school.
Lots of wind-up merchants on here lately.

OldFan · 25/01/2023 23:18

It's the shooting up heroin into her bleeding toes I'd be more worried about.

asblindasabat · 25/01/2023 23:19

I wouldn’t give two fiddlers tbh.
