Does anyone else get in PHs/bed about 6pm?

Obviously this will be hard if you work later or have kids etc.

I work from home most days. I finish at 5. Have a bath, get in PJs and then chill in bed watching TV/ reading/ relaxing all evening. This is during the darker months really (November - March). I don't know what else to do with myself and just feel tired tbh. I go to sleep at around 9pm.

In the summer it tends to be a bit later as it feels there is more of the evening, plus I have more energy. I may go for a walk after work for example.

Is it just me who does this? I still tend to be tired in the morning though, I need more sleep during the winter than summer. In summer I wake at 5:30 no issue, in the winter it's more 7:45.

Yep. Unless I’m going out I get into my PJ’s and watch TV upstairs!

Valid8me · 15/01/2023 14:48

No, I couldn't get into bed an hour after finishing work and I couldn't sleep for over 10 hours every night either. When do you eat?

I do sometimes put my PJ's on after work but don't go to bed until later.

Moomoomeemee · 15/01/2023 14:49

No, because my DCs don't go to bed till 9 and are little enough to still need to be put to bed 😩.

Otherwise, I'd love to be in bed at about 7

garlictwist · 15/01/2023 14:49

If I don't have anything to do in the evening I stay in my pjs all day (work from home), watch tv and head up to bed about 7. I always intend to read but fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. Usually get up about 5am to exercise and feel I've had a decent amount of sleep!

steff13 · 15/01/2023 14:50

There's no end of things to do at my house, so I can always find something to occupy me until 11pm or later.

Fairislefandango · 15/01/2023 14:50

No, I don't get into pyjamas until I go to bed at between 10 and 10:30. I don't really like wearing pyjamas unless I'm in bed, and I don't like being in bed unless it's time to go to sleep. I don't even like staying in bed in the morning at the weekend! I've never had a tv in my bedroom either.

garlictwist · 15/01/2023 14:50

I usually don't bother with dinner either, maybe just a sandwich. It's just me so no motivation to make a meal.

Snarf23 · 15/01/2023 14:51

I do like being in pjs but not bed no. I go to bed to sleep. We have a comfy sofa and blankets for the evening. But yeah there is a feeling of hibernation mode when it’s so dark n dreary. Constant rain where I am atm or so it seems…

Want2beme · 15/01/2023 14:51

No. I don't go to bed until 11.30pm, but don't go to sleep until 1.00pm, most nights.

Doggydarling · 15/01/2023 14:53

Love getting in to my pjs but don't go to bed early. Bra off (if bothered to put one on) is first thing after getting home, once dinner is over and its dark enough to close curtains I'm in my pjs, no ide why I wait til the curtains are closed, we're so rural there's no fear of being seen. In summer it's different, I'm usually found sitting outside, spotify on quite late.

StormzyWho · 15/01/2023 14:54

No, I WFH three or four days a week, when I finish work (6pm ish) on most WFH days I try to go for a swim or to Yoga in the evening to get out of the house at this time of the year.

I usually have one night a week at home doing nothing this time of year but I wear yoga pants or leggings and a sweater which is generally what I wear when WFH.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 15/01/2023 14:55

I try to avoid going straight to bed and read on the sofa as by the time I go to sleep I feel like I've been in bed too long. I will put pj's on though unless I'm goi g somewhere like choir or something

IrisAtwood · 15/01/2023 14:56

Yep. Me too. Thought I was the only one!

StoneofDestiny · 15/01/2023 14:58

Nope. Haven't even had my evening meal at that time. I change into relaxing clothes in the evening - tracksuit bottoms and top - if not going out, but bedtime is never before 11.00

mondaytosunday · 15/01/2023 15:03

Um, I'm still in my jammies middle of the afternoon on Sunday...
But no I don't. Mainly as I have dogs that need walking around 10pm before bed, and also can't be bothered to go upstairs, change and come down again!
I live with my teenage daughter who gets home around 5.30 from school and she does change right away in to her jammies. She comes back down at 6.30 for it and we then chill in the sofa, chatting, half watching TV, half doing homework and me crocheting. She goes up about 9.30, I head out with the dogs, but I don't go upstairs until about midnight.

Coasterfan · 15/01/2023 15:15

No I work until 11pm most nights and also take and collect the DC from sports two nights a week. We usually go out to the cinema one night a week and the pub for tea on Friday. Sometimes I put jamas on about 8pm but I don’t go to bed.

However, I have been in hospital in my jamas in bed since Thursday snd I have loved the rest so I can see the appeal of doing this every night if you can!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 15/01/2023 15:34

I get into pyjamas pretty early, around 8 or so, when kids are getting ready for bed. Get into bed before 10 usually. But I don’t lie down and go to sleep until really late. It’s an awful habit staying up so late but o find it hard to break.

Winterpetal · 15/01/2023 15:39

Yes I do
but I thought it might be a sign of depression so I’ve just started on some antidepressants.
i don’t know anyone else who does this ,so thought it was just me

Icantstopthisfeeling · 15/01/2023 15:43

Yes. Showered & in pj’s sometimes by 3/4 pm!
mostly 6pm though. 7pm is late for me to still be downstairs. Bed is just my cosy safe space.

MintyPrincess · 15/01/2023 15:43

Pjs on whenever I'm in the house.Sleep naked.

momtoboys · 15/01/2023 15:46

I’m not in bed by 6, but lots of nights I am by 7. It’s my favorite part of the day! 😂

Pillowjoy · 15/01/2023 15:56

Don’t you ever go out at night? I’m not out as much as I would like as DH works away a lot and DS is still too young to be left, but I will sometimes meet a friend for a drink or go to a film, or a yoga class — sometimes a run or the gym. I wouldn’t like the feeling that I had closed down an evening’s possibilities by effectively getting ready for bed at 6.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 15/01/2023 15:57

I like to go to bed early, as I like to read. Usually no later than 9pm as I like to read for an hour or so.

I can only get into bed really early if DH is home as I have kids who don't go to bed till 9pm either.

I tend to wear comfy clothes anyway so there isn't as much of an urge to get into comfy PJs..

Summersolargirl · 15/01/2023 15:59

two different things, putting pjs on early fine. Going to bed at 6pm straight after work, no, I find that quite odd.
