Does anyone else get in PHs/bed about 6pm?

Obviously this will be hard if you work later or have kids etc.

I work from home most days. I finish at 5. Have a bath, get in PJs and then chill in bed watching TV/ reading/ relaxing all evening. This is during the darker months really (November - March). I don't know what else to do with myself and just feel tired tbh. I go to sleep at around 9pm.

In the summer it tends to be a bit later as it feels there is more of the evening, plus I have more energy. I may go for a walk after work for example.

Is it just me who does this? I still tend to be tired in the morning though, I need more sleep during the winter than summer. In summer I wake at 5:30 no issue, in the winter it's more 7:45.

If you finish work at 5, isn't it a massive rush to cook dinner, wash up/clean up, have a shower and then get into your PJs and bed?

OnMyWayToSenility · 15/01/2023 20:55

I love my bed and my bedroom, I'm either in the kitchen cooking, relaxing and drinking or I'm in bed watching films or the like.

My kids know where to find me, although they are older teens and we all love our beds!

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 15/01/2023 20:55

PJ's go on as soon as I'm sure I don't need to leave the house again. But I won't go to the bedroom unless I'm going to go to sleep. I can't chill in bed anymore.

I used to work on cruise ships and we (staff) didn't have any living or lounge area to relax in. We had our cabins which consisted of a bunk bed and 2 kitchen chairs, so the only place to relax was on our bunk (which you couldn't even sit upright in). Ever since i need a separation between awake time and asleep time. I can't sleep in my awake places (ie the sofa/living room) and I can't chill in my sleep places.

Yep, up with the DC between 5/6am every day of the week so by 5.30pm/6pm I am ready to change into pyjamas. I get dressed 6am every day though. I don't like lounging in pyjamas in the morning, preferred to be up and dressed sharp to get on with the day.

InTheFutilityRoomEatingBiscuits · 15/01/2023 21:11

I struggle to get to bed any time before about 1am. If I can manage before midnight that’s an early night.

endless things to do! When do you do everything else other than work?

No I'd feel like too much of my life was wasted

Depends how early you get up each day and what you do with the start of your day doesn't it though.

I am up at the same time each day whether it's a weekday, weekend, holiday or term time. I get dressed as soon as I get up, and get on with my day. No pyjamas on until late afternoon. Reasonable if you wake 6am every day and have a busy schedule.

Agree. I can think of nothing worse. I only wear clothes that I find comfortable so I don’t feel the need to change. I put on my PJs at bed time and take them off fist thing before going downstairs. Eating breakfast in clothes I’ve slept in? Yuck, no thanks. And do you never do any sport / hobbies / take kids to clubs / go to the shops / meet friends?

Why yuck? are you incontinent or a dribbler at night? you don’t shower before going to bed ?

You'd still never find me in bed at 6pm. Work all day and then go to bed? No thanks, would rather have a life.

I can't understand folk that lounge in bed all morning at weekends. What a waste of a perfectly good morning 🤷 swings and roundabouts.

Is it swings and roundabouts though?

I mean I get up at 8am on a weekend, so that's not lounging in bed all morning.

But I couldn't waste my life lounging in bed from 6pm, or I'd have no social life at all.

rainbowandglitter · 15/01/2023 21:21

I couldn't go to bed that early. Do you have anything in your life other than work and your bed? We go to the gym, have friends over, go out to events, take dc to activities, cook and eat dinner. There's just no way I could fit in going to bed that early every night.

I get up at 6am every day but I’m not in bed for 6pm… closer to 11 by the time I’ve settled my disabled child to sleep, sorted the house and had a bit of chill out time.

Hedjwitch · 15/01/2023 21:23

I often go once dinner is done. 7pm ish. Its warm and cosy and i like it and can relax there. Feck all else to do anyway.

Igglepiggleslittletoe · 15/01/2023 21:25

Chance would be a fine thing! Often don't get home till 7 or sometimes 10 depending on kids activities after school and work. That said I would feel like a sloth doing it anyway. When do you eat or socialise? No hobbies or friends? It is fine to be in pjs at any time but actually in bed at that time is odd yes.

I often have most of my housework done at weekends before 9am so yes it's definitely a case of swings and roundabouts here.

I do very little by the afternoon as I am busiest and most productive in the mornings.

userxx · 15/01/2023 21:29

I do this if I'm very poorly and I've been at work all day.

itbemay · 15/01/2023 21:40

I don't get into my pjs until I've showered ready for bed around 9.30 and no TV in bedroom. Would love a very early chill like that though! Sometimes I put my tracksuit on after work to laze about in but to be honest by the time I'm home and cooked dinner etc I won't sit down till gone 8 anyway. Summer is lovely as I will sit in the garden after dinner for a while. I hate the darker nights, make me so tired

TeapotTitties · 16/01/2023 00:00

I'm at a loss here OP.

If you get up at 7.45am in the Winter and go to bed at 6pm having finished work at 5pm, where on earth do you find the time for housework and exercise?

My mental health would be shot to shit if I spent all day sitting in the house working, and then all evening lying in bed.

Lovemydoggiesomuch · 16/01/2023 00:10

Every day is different for me . Last night in bed by 8 whereas today bed time has been 11 .
Tomorrow lie in until 9 and then bed about 10 pm

KatysMumJen · 16/01/2023 00:16

Yes, I get home, get showered and put my house Pj’s on, then I usually light some candles and cook the tea.
I have sleeping pj’s and chilling in the house pj’s. I love to be comfy in the house when I’ve nothing else to go back out for!

thaegumathteth · 16/01/2023 00:18

No I'm at my most awake in the evenings. Also I think I'd get quite depressed.

Haruka · 16/01/2023 06:04

Those saying they couldn't sleep in clothes they've eaten in - I don't, I sleep in pants only, even in winter. So my jammies are exclusively worn pre-bed and post-bed (if I'm having a lazy morning) 😁

sociallydistained · 16/01/2023 06:28

I wish 😩

cocktailclub · 16/01/2023 06:32

When I wfh I really feel the need to go out for a walk in the evening however tired I am. Otherwise I would not have left the house. I usually get ready for bed about 9pm and watch tv for an hour before bed.

Alsonification · 16/01/2023 06:43

It's my favourite part about winter. The fact it's dark enough when I finish work to put on my pjs without feeling weird lol.
I work from home as a childminder. Usually finish work at 5:30/6pm. I sometimes go for a walk & then it's shower & pjs as soon as I'm in. If I don't go for a walk I will be in pjs immediately. Sometimes I'm in the pjs before the last baby has left in their car hahaha.
