To not feel safe in changing rooms anymore?

nypost.com/2023/01/14/sighting-of-trans-womans-penis-in-ymca-locker-room-sparks-tears/

Another story about an inappropriate man in a woman's changing room - is this what we are going to see more of in the UK now too? Having been both flashed and sexually assaulted in a public place, this chills me to the bone. Men who get a thrill out of exposing themselves to women will use any opportunity to do so. To think that they won't abuse women's spaces is to be wilfully and dangerously naive.

YANBU - Not unreasonable to think that flashing is flashing regardless of self ID and magical feelings.

YABU - Be kind to men etc etc

I, like most of the population couldn’t give a flying fuck who is using a changing room.

That's a very arrogant assertion, with no evidence to support it.

Many on here regularly forget their anti trans views are a minority one.

What you claim falsely as "anti-trans" is, in fact, protecting the existing sex based segregation rights for women in spaces where they can expect to be in a state of undress.

And if you think that most people are for trans in women's spaces, a Scottish survey was about 65% against self ID, which would allow men to legally access women's toilets and changing rooms.

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 15/01/2023 14:51

Of course, we are supposed to weep at the mere sight of a penis as women are so ‘vulnerable’

Men can keep their penises to themselves. And in the male changing rooms

Emmamoo89 · 15/01/2023 14:51

YANBU

LadyKenya · 15/01/2023 14:51

Why do stores just not make single cubicles with doors? Do away with the curtains, and have someone man the changing rooms. That would not be an issue for me.

Thats my position. Many on here regularly forget their anti trans views are a minority one.

Not all women feel vulnerable in a changing room, I’m used to mixed sex changing rooms and see this as a lot of hysteria

No one is being anti trans. I would feel uncomfortable using mixed sex changing rooms. They should stay separate

Sideorderofchips · 15/01/2023 14:54

I, my 16 year old ad 11 year old daughter don't want to see dicks where we get changed. Men's rights do not trump women's rights. Women do not have a penis.

VinoDino · 15/01/2023 14:56

It's not transphobic to want biological males to stay out of womens spaces.

This for the posters struggling with the meaning of transphobia.

LampLamp · 15/01/2023 14:57

YANBU, anyone who thinks otherwise is validating men who think they can get away with anything by forcing women to be kind.

ParrotsAteThemAll · 15/01/2023 14:58

YANBU 100%

jeaux90 · 15/01/2023 14:58

@Limesodas men commit 98% of sexual crimes. Sex segregation in services and spaces are for this reason but also for dignity and privacy.

Male performance of femininity in these spaces are not a right, they are an incursion.

They have every right to be changing in the women’s changing rooms

thankfully most get this

midgetastic · 15/01/2023 14:59

Ah no
Transwomen are not women or they couldn't be transwomen

SinnerBoy · 15/01/2023 14:59

Oh yes,

YANBU!

They don't actually mean "transphobic," they mean won't bow down meekly and gladly accept what they're ordered to do and behave.

Are supposed to be outraged and offended by the mere sight of a penis? Let's not get all coy and Victorian!! Surely it all depends on what the owner is doing with it?

”The mere sight of a penis”?

Why on earth should a penis EVER be visible in a changing room?

VinoDino · 15/01/2023 15:00

Except they aren't. And they don't.

If they don't feel comfortable in the men's then take it up with the men to be more kind and understanding, or lobby for a third space. It's not a women problem to solve.

Nobody should be subjected to naked people in changing rooms, regardless of their gender. If this had been a naked woman I still think that is not appropriate around children.

Garbage. A naked woman does not pose a threat to children. I take my daughter swimming every week and the communal female changing room and showers are always full of naked women of all ages, shapes and sizes. I actually think it’s healthy for my daughter to see what real female bodies look like and not the porn inspired women that we see in the media.

If a naked man walked into the changing room is would be an entirely different matter and I would raise the alarm immediately.

Sideorderofchips · 15/01/2023 15:02

Trans women are not women and can never be women. You can not change your chromosomes

RinklyRomaine · 15/01/2023 15:02

Nice agism and misogyny in one post there, @Limesodas.

Most of the young women I know have no desire to see strangers penis' to be 'kind', my teen and her peers find the obsession with gender ridiculous and cringe, and wanting privacy as well as penis free spaces is hardly 'hysteria'. It isn't most people. As soon as the question was honest about what 'transition' actually means, the most recent government survey was absolutely the opposite.

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 15/01/2023 15:03

They really aren't. They are male. They belong in the male changing room. Thankfully even my 12 year old child and friends understand this.

It's not just women in females changing rooms though is it? It's young children, it's teenage girls, it's other women who have been abused by men. Like you I am not afraid of men, but unlike you I'm not ignorant enough to fail to understand why other women might be.

Wrong. If you've got a dick you aren't a woman. Maybe your views are accepted in your circle but absolutely nobody I know thinks like that.

stopthebarking · 15/01/2023 15:07

Yes, I'm offended by the sight of a penis in a public place. It's disgusting, tbh. I don't want to see women parading around in with their breasts out, either. It's gross!
