Cheese on toast

saltedpretzel2 · 14/01/2023 20:51

This delicious snack is made by first grilling one side of the bread. Turn it over, cover with cheese and pop back under the grill to melt the cheese yum.

DH thinks you should grill both sides of the bread and then put cheese on the toast and back under the grill to melt. Results in edges being pretty burnt.

AIBU that my way is the correct way to make cheese on toast?

He is wrong 😱

Kinnorafron · 14/01/2023 20:52

YANBU your DH is weird

ClementWeatherToday · 14/01/2023 20:52

Your husband is correct. You seem to be making cheese on bread!? If the edges burn you're not using enough cheese...

Nugg · 14/01/2023 20:52

I lightly toast in the toaster then cover every single part of one side with cheese.

When I'm not on low carb 😫

LTB

blueluce85 · 14/01/2023 20:53

He is right, lightly toast it in the toaster then cheese on. Cheese can't go on bread, it has to go on toast

Surely your way is soggy? I lightly toast in the toaster then cheese (worcestershire sauce) under the grill

HRTQueen · 14/01/2023 20:54

You are right

your dh is wrong

and best cheese on toast is made under a gas grill sadly it’s not the same under an electric grill so rarely make it now though it’s the best snack/tea every

I like cheddar or Cheshire

milkmonitor20 · 14/01/2023 20:54

No.

You are right.

He is wrong.

Lightly toasted in the toaster then under the grill with cheese…..then add marmite. Perfect

meow1989 · 14/01/2023 20:54

I'm almost afraid to admit that I toast the bread in the toaster the put cheese on and microwave for 10 sec intervals until melted....Blush

Coffeellama · 14/01/2023 20:55

Lightly toasted on both sides, then cheese and back in. Your way is passable but soggy, if he burns the edges then I’d LTB.

Hoolihan · 14/01/2023 20:55

It's cheese on TOAST, not cheese on bread. I do the toast in the toaster first.

FortyFacedFuckers · 14/01/2023 20:55

Your DH is wrong

But so are you it's called Roasted Cheese (hides)

baconbarm · 14/01/2023 20:56

I toast both sides, one lighter than the other then cover in cheese on the lightest side. With a dash of Lea & Perrins on top. I love cheese on toast.

A relative of mine microwaves cheese on a plate then slides/spreads the cheese on

Soubriquet · 14/01/2023 20:56

No. Team dh. Toast needs to be toasted both sides, or it’s cheese on bread..with a crispy bottom

WaxingGibbon · 14/01/2023 20:56

He is right, the cheese side must be lightly toasted first, but essential to cover the edges to avoid burning otherwise it's a fail

purpledalmation · 14/01/2023 20:58

He is correct. It's actually delicious in an air fryer.

AutumnIsMyFavouriteSeason · 14/01/2023 20:58

I toast both sides on a pan (gas hob) with butter. Then cheese loaded.

TheProvincialLady · 14/01/2023 20:58

Never in all my born days have I heard of anyone making toast and then putting cheese on it and toasting it again.

Ifailed · 14/01/2023 20:58

OP is right. When the cheese melts and crisps up under a grill, the bottom part of it melts into the bread part.
