Posting for traffic sorry - I’m back at work tomorrow and can’t sleep.

Should I bite the bullet and order a Dyson airwrap? to those that have it - what are your thoughts about it? Is it worth the £450 price tag?

Drying not drunk!

KenAdams · 28/12/2022 15:01

It's terrible don't bother. You have to dry your hair first, then the curler doesn't actually pick up your hair if it's too wet but if it's too dry you get a frizzy curl. Absolute waste of time. Doesn't look anything like straight if you want to use it for that either.

RUNPMTS · 28/12/2022 15:12

I love it because the airwrap is really for fine hair that needs volume like mine. They're not really designed to give you curls (even though that's why everyone seems to buy them) I get a lot of volume from mine but if I already had thick hair i wouldn't bother. There's a good facebook group with lots of tips.

JimBell · 28/12/2022 15:14

Agree with those saying that it depends on your hair type. Mine is really long and very thick with a tendency to frizz, I’ve tried every method/trick possible and the curls last about an hour. I sold it to mil in the end who’s had much better results on her shorter hair

ClaretBarret · 28/12/2022 15:26

DH got me one last year and honestly I can’t consider life without it.

Its amazing, my hair is always nice now (when before it would always be scrapped up in a messy ponytail)

I’ve never used mine on dry hair, always straight out the shower, the curler picks up brilliantly and they hold for more than a day (I do mine in the evening and the curls are still there the next morning for work)

crazycatgal · 28/12/2022 15:33

I love my airwrap. I have fine, frizzy wavy hair and I am able to get a smooth blow dry with the brushes or big bouncy curls with the barrels. However, I have friends with thick, straight hair who say that it just doesn't work on them.

roseretrox · 28/12/2022 18:13

Lots of opinions to consider, thank you! I was going to buy from boots but I’ll probably buy from Dyson direct as they allow returns after use. The GHD curling wands are also on my list 😀

Waste of money. Had mine a few years, it's used as a v expensive hairdryer. That's it.

I have long hair and the curls just won't stay. I've tried every video and Instagrammer version of curling my hair and it's limp in an hour.

Don't waste your money. I hear great things about the Babyliss Big Hair series.

This!

I sold mine as no matter what I did, my hair looked like a frizzy dry mess after a couple of hours.

elm26 · 28/12/2022 18:17

Also I bought off QVC, they have a money back guarantee for 3 months if I remember right.

MarysGirlChildWasLate4ChristmasDay · 28/12/2022 19:06

I love mine. I have frizzy kinky wavy hair. Initially I was a bit underwhelmed by the curls because they weren't like curling iron waves but actually they look nicer and more natural.
I find wet curling holds better but 80% dry produces waves quickly. Long small barrels are a must.

I occasionally blow dry but I don't think it's amazing, but still better than I can do myself with a hairdryer.

I got mine from QVC as they do a monry back guarantee.

If you get one get one now as they have a decent chunk knocked off. I'm currently eyeing the hairdryer because the airwrap doesn't have a diffuser.

I've had loads of compliments on the condition of my hair from hairdressers since switching, which is a bit of a feat because it's dry and prone to damage.

Mimimayhem18 · 28/12/2022 19:10

I have got one and I love it, it's broken my really bad habit of daily straightening. It can be tricky at the start but there are groups on Facebook with really useful tutorials and tips if you do struggle. They are also really easy to sell on if you are past your return period.

PomRuns · 28/12/2022 19:31

I found mine tricky to use, wasn't really pleased with the results so returning (from qvc so can return within 60 days). I purchased the hair dryer this week and love it - didn't need to use my straighteners today.

Have you used the diffuser by any chance?

I think they are likely both great tools but very dependent on hair type.

No- not the curly hair diffuser bit.
I used the end which distributes the heat then the soothing attachment - was miraculous.

Oh dear tempted. I need to start a Dyson fund.

JoeMaplin · 28/12/2022 19:52

I’m also considering getting one. My hairdresser uses one on me, the curls hold beautifully for 2 days. She says on others (eg her own hair) they don’t. I think it is because my hair is naturally wavy and holds curl well.

donttellmehesalive · 28/12/2022 20:03

Both of my grown up DD's received an air wrap for Xmas and tell me that they love them. They both have long hair, that has looked magnificently voluminous every day since. I believe they watched YouTube tutorials and practised but both say the curls stay in until the following day. Both have ditched their hairdryers, straighteners, tongs.

donttellmehesalive · 28/12/2022 20:05

Should add - I got one in the summer and never got the hang of using it for curls, although it dries my hair quickly, styles it better than before, and I get compliments on the condition of my hair.

PomRuns · 28/12/2022 20:17

@MarysGirlChildWasLate4ChristmasDay
Smoothing not soothing although I am ridiculously pleased with my smooth hair !
I felt the airdrop made my hair worse, so definitely think it depend son hair type and technique. My DH said my hair looked better than when I use my GHDs.
Start the fund imo !

Iamwhatiam52 · 28/12/2022 20:18

Absolutely love mine, as does my DD17. Halves drying time, literally in half. I've got very thick hair and it dries it completely in 10 mins. Normal hairdryer would take at least 20/25 mins. I've tried all attachments and they're all great. Def worth the money

JanetandJohn500 · 28/12/2022 21:04

I got mine from the Dyson Outlet on EBay. It comes direct from Dyson. They're usually returns. You get a 1yr guarantee and mine was half the price of new.
When it came, it was still in the sealed box so hadn't even been opened.

Isabelle70 · 28/12/2022 21:14

I got the long version from QVC so 2 months to try it out before returning and also pay over 3 months.
I like it and use the brush attachments day to day. My below shoulder hair is much smoother.

UsernameFail · 28/12/2022 22:54

I found it tricky to use initially and then paid for a tutorial at a Dyson shop (pre Covid opp Selfridges) which was a game changer for me in terms of how to use it.

I love it. I don't use it enough but whenever I do I feel like I've been to the salon for a fancy blow dry
