Has anyone got a dyson air wrap ?

Has anyone got one ? Is it worth the money? I have naturally curly hair and I prefer it smooth and swishy . I've been debating it for a long time and now they are out of stock everywhere !

I don't but my daughter does, her hair has never looked so good.

Whitechocraspberrycheesecake · 08/01/2022 13:18

Yes and yes. I have long, thick, coarse, wavy/ curly hair and I love it. It takes 15 mins to go from wet hair from the shower to sleek, straight, lovely hair. It used to take me at least 40 mins with a normal hair dryer and GHD’s.

gunnersgold · 08/01/2022 13:27

Ooh this sounds promising , my hair repels the straighteners so never really goes flat . Ibe set up alerts for all the shops ! 🙏🙏

I bought one in October. I have naturally curly hair and it's very thick.
At first I thought it was the biggest waste of my money ever. Now I like it a bit better but definitely not ideal for our hair type. I'd watched so many videos before hand and was convinced it would solve all my hair problems.
Basically, each tool has failed me in some way 🥴😅 the curl tool leaves my roots all curly and frizzy but the rest of my hair curled nicely.
Same with the smoothing tool. I'd find I'd spend ages doing my hair for it to look lovely then an hour later my roots were all curly. I'm guessing it didn't dry them properly. This has been the biggest problem. Hair looks lush for an hour and then my curly frizzyness shows through as the top and underneath, it looks so bad.
The only victory I have found is with the round brush attachment, it gives me a nice curly blow. Roots aren't as bad as on the other attachments. Genuinely smooths my hair so I could sttaighten over it and it will stay smooth for longer.
Ultimately, it doesn't work like it does on straight hair for us. I will still have to straighten over my hair to get it to stay straight. Mega disappointed and I would have sent it back if I could but I'd already used it. Be prepared for it to help a little bit but not solve all of your hair problems.

Yes. Curly hair too and prefer it sleek with a wave, this is the quickest styling tool I’ve ever used and creates much less damage than straighteners etc

ivfbabymomma1 · 08/01/2022 13:33

I've got one, unfortunately I don't rate it but that's probably because I can't use it properly!!! The curls seem to drop within an hour no matter what I do 😥

gunnersgold · 08/01/2022 13:35

Mixed reviews , I'd like to buy it from qvc as you can send it back after trying but they aren't selling at the mo! 🙄

Such a lot of money if I c at make it work for me isn't it !

I had one and sold it on. I just did not have the time to spend working out how to use it and practicing with it.

gunnersgold · 08/01/2022 14:22

There are loads on eBay so I don't think you are alone .. I'm pretty good with hair so I'm sure I can crack it . It's wether it will do what I want it to! Or I'm asking the impossible !

Just wait for QVC to get stock, it removes the risk of you spending money on something you might not want in the end.

Greyhare · 09/01/2022 09:20

I had one and sold it on as it just didn't work for me, the only attachment I liked was the round smoothing brush, and so I brought a Revlon One Step for a fraction of the price and I get far better results which last longer.

mandoforever · 09/01/2022 09:28

I wanted it to straighten and smooth my hair mostly, didn't work.

When I did curl it looked old fashioned, not beachy waves, thank goodness it did drop out.

I bought it direct from dyson so sent it back within 30 days free of charge.

I agree completely.

I had one for Christmas expecting it to be amazing and transform me.

I find it tricky to use to get lift at the roots. It's fine if you want a relaxed barrel curl.

My hair is fine and the force of the dryer dries out the surrounding flat hair meaning I have to keep wetting it to use the air wrap. The hair has to be straight and slightly damp not wet.

The attachment I use the most and have had very good results with is the round styling brush.

Overall it feels like a huge amount of money for a device that (for me) is a normal styling brush on a hair dryer.

The rest of the attachments don't get used.

I just can’t bring myself to spend that sort of money, no matter how good it is?

Really? I’m amazed by this. Dis you use the hard brush attachment? I use that plus thx round brush for the very top layer, works an absolute treat.

I used Qvc and was willing - hoping really! - that I’d want to send it back but it’s absolutely brilliant. I haven’t even used the tong attachments yet but it’s worth it just for the brushes.

mandoforever · 09/01/2022 15:32

@MrsKDB, yes honestly!
I tried everything and watched videos.

I've actually bought the dyson hairdryer and can get a far better finish with that.

IloveJudgeJudy · 09/01/2022 20:56

I wanted to love it. I already have the Dyson hairdryer which I really get on with. Unfortunately, it dried out my hair as it works tip to root of the hair. I did rate the smoothing brush but that was the only thing. I returned mine. Also, curls weren't great and dropped out. It also took ages to style my hair.

Thatswhatmamasaid · 09/01/2022 22:36

I have thick, curly hair which is now wavy due to regular Keratin blow dries. I can't imagine life without my Air Wrap! It gives me a nice, bouncy blow dry without needing to get the same finish at the hairdresser. It won't curl hair that's already quite curly, because as others have said, the curls will drop out.

gunnersgold · 03/02/2022 12:39

They are back in stock from dyson so I've ordered one ! Exciting!

Lifeisforalimitedperiodonly · 03/02/2022 12:44

It is literally the best thing I have ever bought. I got it and didn't think much of it until I took time to use it properly - now I can dry my long hair in 7 minutes with waves. Brilliant.

jeaux90 · 03/02/2022 13:30

Best investment I ever made for my hair. I also have the straighteners.

I have thick curly hair.

You will have to learn how to use it, kind of hard at first but really worth it.

MaterialWorld · 03/02/2022 13:37

New owner of one here and I am in love! It's hands down the best thing I've ever owned for my awkward not straight not curly but very thick hair. Hope you get on well with it too!

gunnersgold · 03/02/2022 20:13

Great! Can't wait for it to come!

Reading this with interest. Have watched so many instagram videos and reviews, and it seems like a good buy. but like PP cannot bring myself to spend that much. Although I can afford it, I just can't justify it... would be really interested to hear how you get on OP!
