Dyson airwrap

I would love one but it is totally out of my price range. Does anyone use anything similar and get good results? My main attraction to the airwrap is the reduced heat damage and its versatility - loose waves, curls or totally smooth. Appreciate a tool that does so much will cost but £400+ is crazy!

Please advise!

Same here, cannot bring myself to spend all that money! There must be a dupe surely! 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Unless a factory literally copies the fancy engineering tech I don't think there is a dupe sorry.

You can get a barrel tongs that has variable temperature, that's the most similar

They do money off reconditioned ones on the Dyson website.

Yeah, thanks, I saw the money off ones but they are still £375. Seems crazy.

The barrel tongs a PP mentioned? Any specific ones?

I bought a 15 quid dupe on Vinted and it's not bad but just a warm air styler really. The waves dropped right out of my hair.

I have purchased the Dyson airwrap and it is very cheaply made. I say this because as soon as I took it out of the box one of the parts fell off. Then the weight of the actual thing is super light, which means that the metal used to build the motor (the most expensive part) is not built with high quality steel.

Secondly the attachments are also super light weight, again left me thinking the quality is terrible.

The alternative are a good professional hair dryer such as Parlux and GHDs

Also the result I got as someone with fine mixed Afro hair was better with my the Parlux followed by GHDs, then with the Dyson airwrap which left my hair frezzy after 30 minutes sitting the house. I tested it doing half my hair with traditional and the other half with the Dyson. Really disappointed.

Wow, I'm surprised but that is good to know! What a shame!!

One glance at the current S&B page 1 tells me Dyson are busy today Grin

Don't get it! I've got the Dyson hairdryer and I love it. I tried the Airwrap. I really wanted to love it but I found it wrecked my hair as it's the ends that go around the barrels first, so I returned it. The only bit I did like was the smoothing brush. If they sold that separately I'd buy it. But the rest? 😒

Yes to be honest at home it takes me 1 hour to blow dry my hair (I use GHD blow dry brush with Parlux hair dryer) I was hoping that using the Dyson Airwrap would reduce the time it takes to do my hair, but in fact I felt the result was not what I wanted with the blow dry attachment, with Parlux you get a smooth blow dry, but with something like a cheap Babyliss hairdryer my hair is still frizzy and that is exactly what I got with the Dyson frizzy hair I think the entire Dyson thing is marketing hype; the result I got was not close to (and certainly not better) than a Parlux blow dry.

Also those people saying the Dyson hairdryer is great, I wonder have you also tried the Parlux hair dryers??

Using the Dyson Airwrap has also certainly made me think twice about the entire brand as a whole. Very disappointed.

My Parlux blew up after a year but my Dyson is still going well after 4 years. Great for drying the dog too!
