Cocaine

We have come away for Christmas with our children and our parents.

Last night we had a meal in and sat around chatting and drinking.

Half way through the night DH went upstairs and did a line of coke.

I’m pissed off.

He thinks he’s done nothing wrong.

AIBU?

If he needs it on a night in .. you have a bigger problem.. doing coke socially is one thing , doing it on your own is a whole different ball game .. your looking at the wrong problem

Probs not ideal, but was any harm done

I couldn't give a fuck if the OP's DH harms himself, bt I do care about the trail of murder, rape, kidnap, enslavement and general misery caused by the illegal cocaine trade. Just look at the situation in many central American countries where cartels are in open warfare with the government and local population.

People who take and trade cocaine are directly responsible for this, and should be suitable punished.

Absolutely this. All those who use drugs 'recreationally' need to consider the role they play

Thingshavebecomeweird · 23/12/2022 13:56

Cocaine.with mates on a night out- no issue. Many people.do it. I'd prefer it was legalised.

Sneaking off to do a secret line in these circs would piss me off. He has a problem.

antelopevalley · 23/12/2022 14:08

Mumsnet. Where if you have wine with kids in the house you are risking their lives as you may not be able to drive them to the hospital if you have an accident. But having a line of coke is no issue.

Aye, it’s Christmas!

Yeah, we cover the stollen and mince pies in the stuff here. Makes a nice change from icing sugar.

Talaforniababe · 23/12/2022 14:21

I think that's utterly pathetic. Who needs a class A drug to get through a dinner? More seriously, is he not worried about coke heart? Gerry Ryan, an Irish celebrity, died of a coke induced heart attack a few years ago. Pathetic and sad for his family.

JamSandle · 23/12/2022 14:31

Really surprised how many people don't seem to have an issue with cocaine. It's interesting how the perception seems to have changed. I'd be concerned about the cost and health implications. There's a huge gap between recreational use and addiction but addiction is a devastating path for all involved.

Brightstarowl · 23/12/2022 13:21

Oh stop clutching your pearls!

Not every one has lived such a sheltered life as you....

Clearly. I'd rather live a 'sheltered life' than contribute to the exploitation of vulnerable people whilst putting unknown shit into my body, with my children present.

Idiot.

Fairislefandango · 23/12/2022 14:42

The 'It's the government's fault for making it illegal' argument in response to discussion about crime, county lines etc is pathetic imo. Whether you are in favour of legalisation or not, you're still the one responsible for buying it when it's not legal, in the knowledge of the repercussions. I mean... how hard is it to choose not to?

CheesenCrackersmm · 23/12/2022 14:54

It sounds like he is getting an addition first night out with friends, then a night in with family. You need to be having words very soon.

DdraigGoch · 23/12/2022 14:55

ILoveeCakes · 23/12/2022 12:58

The hypocritical one is you.
The people who aren't the hypocrites are just living their lives and not moralising everything (when it suits).

I DGAF about the backstory to everything I buy. Not my problem. "I don't care" are some of the most powerful words I know.

I find people hypocritical when they refuse tested and approved vaccinations on the basis of "you don't know what's in that", "evil pharmaceutical companies" etc. yet are quite happy to stick a substance in their system that was delivered via someone's anus and could have been cut with anything.

Remind you of anyone?

fatsocatso · 23/12/2022 15:07

Liz1tummypain · 23/12/2022 13:43

you have children. Do you like the idea of your children doing drugs too? presumably not. Hope he agrees to get clean, if that's the right phrase. All the best OP. YANBU

The middle class, middle aged twats I know who are still prolific mdma/coke etc users are absolutely insistent that they expect their children to take drugs when they're older as it's part of growing up/experimenting etc and they are fine with it, and will just teach them to be 'careful'. I'm not sure how you can be careful when it's an unregulated industry and you can't be certain what's in the shit you're taking. Depressing really.

No. I don't actually take coke, but I don't have a problem with people who do.
Either way, I could still do what I like as you can go off and do what you like. I don't care what you do and you should feel the same about me. I don't like people telling others what to do when they have no business doing so.

What even when kids are raped and murdered in the process. You sound of low intelligence as nobody in there right mind would think this is normal behaviour.

Oh shut up. One day you'll find out how your phone and trainers are made.

Your arguments are as vacuous as you. If anyone needs to shut up on here it's you before you embarrass yourself even more.
It's a public forum though so froth on about how drugs cause no problems blah blah.

DanseAvecLesLoups · 23/12/2022 15:32

I would be pissed off too OP.

Utterly selfish behaviour not to have offered a line to everyone sat at the table rather then sneak off upstairs.

Depends where you live I suppose. I live in London and coke is pretty much easily available if you want it and these days, it does not cost much. I tried it probably half a dozen times on my 20s, mostly out of curiosity, it was fun but it was not something I felt I had to have in order to have a good night out. I had a few friends who got really into it and to be honest they became utterly tedious company when on a high. I'm also very sporty and was very aware of potential heart conditions regular use can cause so that was the major concern for me as well as at the time i playing semi pro rugby when and drug testing was carried out by clubs. I have seen more issues with alcohol abuse over years rather then drug abuse. I still have a few friends who are occasional users, typical middle class professional types, it's not my thing but I don't judge them for partaking.

ILoveeCakes · 23/12/2022 15:21

I've never known someone who had a heart attack from putting on a pair of trainers. Nor get stabbed over them or cause an RTC. I've also never known someone become an utter bore specifically while wearing trainers.

This is a really pointless, stupid and infantile argument.

One day you’ll grow up and realise that.

LlynTegid · 23/12/2022 16:10

Never go in any vehicle he drives again. If his work involves any machinery his employer should be made aware so he can be drug tested.

Sorry to read you are married to a racist.

BrookieButter · 23/12/2022 16:20

Why are you with someone who takes drugs?

Your bar is so low.

It’s because the majority on here are lower working class, and drug use is sadly prolific in some circles

This is MN, and on every thread about cocaine all the posters who use it/have used it/have friends who use it simpy don't believe that there are a lot of people who have never tried it/don't want to try it/have friends who don't use it.

Because all their social circle use it they think it is normal. It isn't for everyone.
