Feels Meghan has done to him to justify the vitriol and misogyny of that article he wrote where he’d like to see her naked and assaulted?

I mean WTF? How in earth did a major publication think that it was fine to publish his little sexual fantasy about hurting a woman like that?

I’m no fan of the Royals in any form, and could care less about their infighting, but why are we surprised that there is so much violence against women and girls when this kind of article by an influential man is seen as okay to write?
Where’s his description of a naked, vulnerable Harry being assaulted??

Repulsive, sick hateful man. Like most of MMs detractors he doesn't even attempt to justify his words; for some reason they think the fact that she's an established hate target is enough reason to spew the vitriol.
It's reassuring that there has been widespread condemnation of this piece. Not that JC will care: horrific, right wing racist misogyny seems to be all the rage, and is being less and less censored. He'll have his fans and may have attracted new ones.

M0nica44 · 19/12/2022 09:07

Several years ago Clarkson liked to drop whenever possible that he had played tennis (once it appeared) with Prince Harry and talk about him like they were BFFs... Presumably he is sad that Haz is no longer counting him as his bestie and no doubt avoids the odious twerp because he would hardly fit the H&M brand... And blames Meghan for taking his friend away... Sad twat.
I did like Kathy Burke's tweet though, calling Clarkson a 'Collosal Cunt'!!

Lalliella · 19/12/2022 09:07

Your first sentence of your OP comes across as victim blaming to me. You know that Meghan has done nothing to justify that. Don’t even go looking for reasons. That man is a vile, misogynistic cunt.

MzHz · 19/12/2022 09:08

Nogbreaks · 19/12/2022 08:44

It’s so depressing. The constant threat of violence against women and girls seems so accepted that this kind of thing can be printed, with absolutely no come back whatsoever.

Agree.

and I know she isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but imagine reading ANY of this about yourself and how that would make you feel

imagine how your daughter would feel if this was happening to her. What about the girls who HAVE seen her as an inspiration and now see her being pulled apart by the wolves of SM/press. Being racially abused means that THEY deserve it too?

whatever she’s said/not said, done/not done NOBODY deserves this campaign of hatred meted out day after day on all forms of communication for the whole world to see.

it has to stop.

all of this shit potentially proves her point more than any Netflix episode.

ToastingToes · 19/12/2022 09:09

He's as entitled to his opinion as anyone else.

TheaBrandt · 19/12/2022 09:09

Agree it undermines Camillas work in this field

Alexandernevermind · 19/12/2022 08:44

Its a very odd thing for him to say. I usually like JC's bluntness, but this is so wrong.
The actress from GOT said she even found filming that scene very traumatic and upsetting. The producers of these shows need to stop abusing women for titillation and entertainment.

GOT (tv series) and the books it’s based on are deeply misogynistic.

cakeorwine · 19/12/2022 09:10

The silence from the Palace is shameful.

It's not a minor person on Twitter making this comments.

This is a popular TV presenter writing in a national and influential newspaper.

csos · 19/12/2022 09:10

The palace needs to release a statement condemning what was said about Meghan.

I wonder if this was about Kate, would they stay quiet?

Wasn't it years ago when Kate and William were newlyweds and a paparazzi took pictures of Kate topless, the Palace condemned it and legal action was taken against the newspaper?

I can't remember what exactly happened, but there was some degree of protection.

Nogbreaks · 19/12/2022 09:10

‘Camilla is patron of a women's charity against gender abuse and violence.’

well, there’s an irony. While hosting these misogynistic journalists like Clarkson and Morgan.
it really does all feel a bit Harvey Weinstein. Bowing to the power and influence. Perhaps they need the feel to keep men like this inside to stop them turning against the Royals.
Can you even imagine a world, though, where Clarkson writes an article like this with Camilla as the target ?

Could the (currently) 12% who voted YANU please come and explain their 'reasoning'?

‘The palace needs to release a statement condemning what was said about Meghan.’

Not in a million years will they do this. Clarkson was literally just at a Xmas party with the QUEEN CONSORT

OP posts:
TheaBrandt · 19/12/2022 09:12

Camilla was herself a hate figure for a while so should know better than to endorse men like Clarkson and Morgan.

cakeorwine · 19/12/2022 09:13

There would be front page headlines and calls from politicians for resignations if a similar view had been expressed about Kate - or other Royals.

But the only way for Clarkson to feel any consequences would be for ITV to do something. And then there would be outrage from some quarters about cancel culture and 'you can't say anything nowadays'

Tigofigo · 19/12/2022 09:14

Very telling that all the people Clarkson lists as hating are women, isn't it.

And the one he hates most of all, more than a child murderer, is mixed race.

cakeorwine · 19/12/2022 09:15

I hope it gets discussed on programmes like Jeremy Vine or on LBC.

Lessoftheold · 19/12/2022 09:16

Delectable · 19/12/2022 09:06

Camilla is patron of a women's charity against gender abuse and violence. William is chairman or so of the FA. He never spoke to protect Meghan nor does he speak against racism in football. So I'm not surprised Camilla had a party with Clarkson, Piers and other journalists who hack at Meghan for a living. Gives step parents a bad name, endangers women and emboldens racists.

William was extremely quick to speak out against his own godmother but not saying a word in defence of his sister in law is disgusting.

‘ToastingToes · Today 09:09
He's as entitled to his opinion as anyone else.’

If my opinion included a violent sexual fantasy against a young woman who I didn’t know, I’d probably keep it to myself.

I certainly wouldn’t feel empowered to share it with the world in a national publication,
leading to my own daughter ( herself the target of online abuse) feeling the need to publicly speak out against me.

But then I’m not a wealthy, privileged,
Misogynistic man being paid by the word to be as vile as possible to those weaker than me so
what do I know.

He's as entitled to his opinion as anyone else.

An opinion not based in any fact is just a bias. Or, in this case, a prejudice. If you hate someone "just because" then your feelings are actually not valid.

Im actually less bothered that Clarkson (who's always been a shitstain) wrote this than that a whole chain of people thought it was ok to publish it. Sad

You don't have to like it or agree with it, but he's still entitled to it.

It doesn't need to be based on fact, it's his opinion of how he feels.

I actually don't know if this falls under freedom speech and "having an opinion".

To me this sounds very much like hate speech. If Meghan can sue him, I hope she does.

And there are people who don't want to be associated with it.

Brand Clarkson has been damaged.

There will no doubt be some people who are with him. There will always be people who are on the hater's side.
