Feels Meghan has done to him to justify the vitriol and misogyny of that article he wrote where he’d like to see her naked and assaulted?

I mean WTF? How in earth did a major publication think that it was fine to publish his little sexual fantasy about hurting a woman like that?

I’m no fan of the Royals in any form, and could care less about their infighting, but why are we surprised that there is so much violence against women and girls when this kind of article by an influential man is seen as okay to write?
Where’s his description of a naked, vulnerable Harry being assaulted??

Clarkson is first and foremost a journalist, Harry and Megan rightly or wrongly have pissed off a lot of journalists. Journalists hold a lot of power, they can influence so strongly to the point of making or breaking governments (it's why dictatorships don't allow freedom of the press).
Journalists can do a lot of good, but only if they have a moral compass.
Clarkson is typical of an abusive male; he's charming, witty and charismatic, he knows how to manipulate and how to use words to great effect. Except his vitriol towards Megan has clearly stunted his ability as what he has written is neither witty or intellectual....obviously this will be Megan's fault too.

At Easter, will it be okay for a journalist to write that MM should be stripped, whipped and crucified? And then say, it’s okay, it’s just a reference to Jesus Christ’s sufferings. Just because there is a cultural touchstone for something, doesn’t mean it’s okay to apply it.

Camilla wasn't the host. The Daily Mail article title was a bit misleading. Lower down it says

If you have never watched GOT then it reads absolutely bizarre. I think it was funnier in his head as Cersei is pure evil (The things she does to a nun in the show, you would struggle to write down) and the shame walk is her comeuppance.

Depressingly I fear there will be no consequences for Clarkson over this. Mind boggling that there are people on here defending what he said. Even if it was a reference to a TV programme (which is no bloody defence anyway) not everyone has seen that programme, so the reference is completely lost on a lot of people, me included.

A couple of points.

GOT may have been misogynistic but there were some pretty gruesome deaths for the men too. There are also eunuchs and one poor sod had his penis cut off.

Camilla needs to be more careful, I think she is accepted rather than loved. One of her main virtues is her work with DV victims, now it looks like that may be opportunistic.

And of course Catherine has had Botox and some kind of surgery on her jaw line, totally up to her but don't insult people's intelligence by denying it.

I have a couple of JC’s books and watch the Grand Tour, he makes me laugh. Gone way too far here. I get he is a columnist and therefore must have strong opinions in his piece but this was dreadful. Like others have said why the hell didn’t an editor somewhere along the way say no, we are not printing this. How many people (men?) saw this before it was printed. I worked in publishing for decades and anything remotely contentious was sent to our lawyers, then a couple of sub editors checked it, an editor would see the piece and it would pass through the art dept and production staff. Lots of opportunities for someone to say hang on we can’t print this. It’s just nasty.
