I'm being ripped off aren't I?

Not in a great position with my finances so trying to sell extra bits on vinted to make extra cash for Christmas.
Sold a brand new bottle of perfume and it was delivered on Tuesday.
She was online since then every hour or so and didn't confirm delivery.
A hour before I was due to get funds released she claims it hasn't arrived.
Yodel tracking shows delivered,I have proof of postage,I spoke to yodel customer service who have checked and the drivers sat nav have showed delivery to exact location.
I'm gutted -it's £40 I need
I'm worried vinted will refund her and she has my perfume.
I've forwarded all this to vinted but not hopeful

Buyer hasn't replied to any messages either

Wow, I am so sorry to hear this @sayalittleprayerr Sad It's soooo easy for people rip people off and con them with mail order like this. Luckily most people are honest and it doesn't happen massively often. Sounds like this woman has taken off with the perfume though, and does have it.

Not sure how you can prove it though. I'm sorry. Looks like your money is gone. Flowers I don't think you will get a refund as the package was delivered to that address exactly.

PurpleButterflyWings · 16/12/2022 19:54

So easy for people TO rip people off!

SpideyCraw · 16/12/2022 19:56

Yes you’re blatantly being ripped off and I’m surprised other people think you aren’t

Strangestthings · 16/12/2022 00:04

Missing the point but £40 for 25ml perfume?!

It's £55-£65 for 35ml of Chanel. (Depending on where you get it from, and if you get it in a sale.) Not an uncommon price for a nice, good quality perfume.

trampoline123 · 16/12/2022 20:06

They are ripping off the system more than you personally as you'll get refunded as you have proof of postage.

XelaM · 16/12/2022 20:12

I'm so sorry Op. it sounds absolutely like a scammer ☹️I hope you get your money

BackInTheDales · 16/12/2022 20:23

So sorry for you op. I hope that you get it sorted. Not sure why some posters are being nasty towards you.

I would like to use Vinted but I have read so many horror stories with similar issues to yours so I'm steering well clear which is a shame. I feel the same about selling on eBay now after a similar issue.

Good luck.

The buyer chose the shipping method and bought the label
All I did was use the label she chose
Surely if it wasn't allowed vinted wouldn't let me post it ...

I’ve sold loads of things on Vinted and have had quite a few instances where the tracking is updated as delivered (mainly with Evri and to a parcel shop rather than a home address) and it hasn’t turned up. Vinted have contacted the courier and issue a refund to them and compensation to me.
Unsure how this will work if yodel are saying that it’s been posted through the letterbox but don’t panic just yet. Vinted are pretty slow at responding at the moment because I think they’ve had a lot of queries to answer recently. Just make sure you send them as much information as you can and hopefully all will be sorted for you.

Justbefair · 16/12/2022 20:26

I ordered some perfume and it didn't arrive, I just kept in touch with sender but couldn't confirm it had arrived which means I guess she didn't get the money but it had been taken from me. 2 months later it arrived!

TreadLightly3 · 16/12/2022 21:17

@sayalittleprayerr tell vinted PR you’ve written a thread about this on mumsnet which is trending and which shares all the details that show she’s clearly a scammer and they’re effectively supporting her by saying it’s not their issue. I for one will never use the platform if it’s this easy to get ripped off and I bet it’s putting off tons of other people too. I hope you get your money xx

Schnooze · 16/12/2022 21:21

Fingers crossed.

what is the point of tracking then?

Yeah it's really put me off using Vinted.

In that case it shouldn't even be your issue in any sense as long as there is proof you've sent it.

mcmooberry · 16/12/2022 22:22

Hope you get paid by Vinted and they take the money from her. I had an expensive pair of boots listed there but couldn't see a way of insuring them up to their value so took the hit and sold them on ebay and paid all the fees.

lindabennett17 · 16/12/2022 22:57

Just saying i had problems with yodel they delivered to wrong door and address also took picture of parcel it never saw it had to phone fight got my money back i blame driver my address was clear i dont think he read it properly

LNEAX · 16/12/2022 23:17

This happened to my partner on eBay to the tune of £5,000. Would’ve been protected by PayPal had the delivery address been the same as the PayPal address (of course it wasn’t, scammers know what they’re doing). PayPal ruled in the scammers favour, seems there’s more protection for buyers. Fortunately we got it back some months later via the help of the ombudsman service, so may be worth looking into Vinteds policy on this, gathering all your evidence and speaking to someone over the phone if possible / making a case. Otherwise contact the ombudsman. These people know what they’re doing and will do it again and again unfortunately, so whether it’s 40 quid or thousands don’t let it go, you’re entitled to that money!

ABBAsnumberonefan · 16/12/2022 23:17

OP, you need to help yourself here. Open a disputed delivery claim with yodel - not vinted.

JoyBeorge · 16/12/2022 23:26

Not a great help I know, but if £40 is a lot of money to you then somewhere like vinted isn't the place to be trying to sell to raise urgent funds. I lose count how many of these stories come from there. At least use somewhere like eBay where you have more protection if it goes wrong.

Autumn61 · 16/12/2022 23:40

If you have proof of that horrible accusation I hope you have been to the police !

whynotwhatknot · 16/12/2022 23:47

my amazon delivery today said it was handed to resident-

it wasnt it was left outside my front door-im not saying shes not lying for sure but just because a company say something doesnt mean it true

Layersoftaytoes · 16/12/2022 23:48

The cheeky little cnut. I’d be fuming too! I get annoyed when they don’t confirm they have it even when it’s only £5 🤣 and have to wait out the 48 hours to get the money, so I can’t imagine how frustrating this is. Some people are cheeky bastards

Readaboutyourself · 17/12/2022 00:10

It might be a scam.

It might just be a person who is busy and this isn’t a priority.

Henrysmycat · 17/12/2022 05:04

This proverbial has put me off vinted. If I’m gonna get scammed as a seller, I’m using EBay instead.
shameful behaviour from Vinted.
what does it even mean, it wasn’t delivered to the buyers hands. What’s next? Disgraceful.

EsmeSusanOgg · 17/12/2022 05:17

sayalittleprayerr · 15/12/2022 11:46

Vinted have replied saying
"Yes we can see it's delivered to address but you can't show proof buyer has it in their possession-maybe they weren't home and it was left in safe place"

What can I do about that ?
Anyone could just claim they haven't received it

You need to claim the cost from Yodel.

This. Which is why buyers are entitled to a refund. But the seller is also owed compensation from the courier.
