I'm being ripped off aren't I?

Not in a great position with my finances so trying to sell extra bits on vinted to make extra cash for Christmas.
Sold a brand new bottle of perfume and it was delivered on Tuesday.
She was online since then every hour or so and didn't confirm delivery.
A hour before I was due to get funds released she claims it hasn't arrived.
Yodel tracking shows delivered,I have proof of postage,I spoke to yodel customer service who have checked and the drivers sat nav have showed delivery to exact location.
I'm gutted -it's £40 I need
I'm worried vinted will refund her and she has my perfume.
I've forwarded all this to vinted but not hopeful

Buyer hasn't replied to any messages either

@amyneedssleep surely if this was the case she wouldn't of waited 2 days to tell vinted?
She's been online every day (as I checked to see if she had marked as received)

Well if it wasnt delivered it wasnt delivered... shes not going to raise a case before the end of when its suppose to be especially with the current postal disruption.

I just had to get a refund on one of my DS xmas gifts, I waited 8 days past when it was suppose to be its maximum delivery date to raise it incase it showed up late... only seemed fair to give them the benefit of the doubt until I had to make the claim or it would time out.

CheapWine · 15/12/2022 14:07

I hate yodel, they swore blind they delivered my VAX and showed the tracking. I had been following the van online and saw it on the next street, it never came to my street.

I only hit my Vax by knocking on the door of number 21 on the next street. It was there.

WindUpPenguin · 15/12/2022 14:13

Yes, you might have been scammed, but also the driver could have delivered it to the wrong door (Sat Nav is not that accurate), left it on the doorstep for someone to steal (whatever the tracking says) or have just kept it for themselves.

I had an eBay parcel which Yodel insisted they had delivered to me at my address. They kept insisting that CCTV in my building would show the driver, but the CCTV was only at the entrance to our block of flats, and it had clearly not been delivered to my flat. The seller would not (or could not?) open a case with Yodel. I eventually got my money back through eBay. I felt bad for the seller, but Yodel were clear that they needed to open a case to claim a refund, which the seller refused to do because the tracking said 'delivered' and that was that as far as they were concerned.

sayalittleprayerr · 15/12/2022 14:06

I really don't want her getting the perfume and a refund

You seem agressively convinced this woman is scamming you... I HIGHLY doubt she is, this company is notorious for doing this and with the postage in crisis non delivered packages are happing to loads of people right now.

EVRi has 3 packages for me that have been lost for a month, some say 'delivered' on some days and revert back to 'at the sorting office' other days but they have not been delivered (it seems there might be a timer that is auto-updating undelivered packages and then it reverts back when they get rescanned at another point).

Why are you so argry and convinced this woman who has done nothing wrong is the person you should be mad at?

sayalittleprayerr · 15/12/2022 14:17

@mam0918 it was delivered two days ago -a buyer has 2 days to raise a case before vinted pay you-she's allowed it to show as delivered and received for 2 days and waited 1 hour till the money was meant to be released to me to say she hasn't received it

OP posts:
sayalittleprayerr · 15/12/2022 14:17

@mam0918 I'm sure they've been delivered
It's been confirmed they have been delivered

OP posts:
Diyextension · 15/12/2022 14:17

Maybe the yodel driver scanned it at the property, before nicking it ….. this happens…….

OtterInABox · 15/12/2022 14:19

@mam0918 someone who genuinely did not receive the goods would respond to the seller's messages. They'd also not leave it 47 hours to report as not received to Vinted.

id be fucking aggressively pissed of too. Maybe you're one of the 'be kind' crew? 😑

OP - All you can do is really push Vinted on this. You sent in good faith and you have proof it was delivered. Ask them what more you can do

sayalittleprayerr · 15/12/2022 14:19

Why did she wait a hour before I was due to be paid ?
Why didn't she say it hadn't been delivered 2 days ago when she was constantly on the app
Why is she ignoring my messages asking her could she check garden /safe places /neighbours
It is coming across as dodgy
And I'm angry because I'm selling things to make extra money and you have potentially people trying to rip people off
So yes I'm upset
£40 is a lot of money to me

TruffleShuffles · 15/12/2022 14:20

Even if she has got the perfume, she’s ripping off Vinted not you. You will get your money as you can prove you posted it, it’s up to her to prove to Vinted that she hasn’t received it and for them to decide if they will reimburse her.

mam0918 · 15/12/2022 14:20

sayalittleprayerr · 15/12/2022 14:17

What you have said is NOT confirmation... you are taking a notoriously shite delivery company that is actually famous for not delivering to the correct places word without ANY proof.

Legally they have to provide a photo or signature, them saying they delivered it via GPS means NOTHING.

mam0918 · 15/12/2022 14:22

OtterInABox · 15/12/2022 14:19

No Im one of the people that have been in this situation like many posters here.

You dont open a non delivery case until the end of the time period otherwise they tell you to just wait longer.

sayalittleprayerr · 15/12/2022 14:23

@mam0918 it wasn't a non delivery case
It was showing delivered to customer Tuesday at 12.30
The buyer has been active since yet didn't say she hadn't received it.

OP posts:
Diyextension · 15/12/2022 14:23

There is no proof “ it was delivered “ all there’s is a gps scan at the address. It could have been left on the doorstep and another courier/ some has taken it or as said before the driver could have scanned and then pinched it knowing it was perfume ? With no photo then these things could have happened.

or she could be pulling a fast one and trying to get her money back .

sayalittleprayerr · 15/12/2022 14:25

Why is she ignoring my messages then?
If she was a genuine buyer ?
I've sent her two messages
When apologising and asking her to check safe places etc as tracking showed as delivered and the other screenshots from yodel etc
Everything read and ignored and she's constantly active
It makes zero sense

OP posts:
BrilliantGreenFlamingo · 15/12/2022 14:33

It’s really annoying that she’s ignoring you. I’ve had things say delivered with a photo, but it’s not been my porch. It’s been next door’s. But to sort that out, I wouldn’t have ignored the seller or blamed the seller.

Diyextension · 15/12/2022 14:33

She’s said it’s not been delivered, how many times do you need her to say it’s not been delivered? It’s difficult to know if she’s genuinely not had it or is trying to scam you . These are the pitfalls off selling online…. Signed for is the most secure way… that way you have proof of a signature to back up any claims of non delivery. And yodel are shit.

Brefugee · 15/12/2022 13:08

I have tried Vinted once, after my DDs and friends say it's good.
And i was scammed on the first thing i bought, and Vinted were useless.
So i won't use them any more, and i tell all my friends who ask not to bother.

The only way i think i'd sell something on Vinted or elsewhere now is self collect, and film the handover and them examining it and saying on video that it's fine. And getting cash.

I'm curious to know, how were you scammed?
When the item arrives with you, you then have 2 days to confirm that you have the item and there isn't a problem? If nothing is sent then you are automatically refunded.

Stickmansmum · 15/12/2022 14:36

I have this today! Vinted telling me 2 items delivered today. Went into yodel tracking and it says ‘delivered to porch’. There is nothing at my house. I’ve texted the neighbours so hoping the just got the wrong house.

But I’m not lying and your buyer may have similar?

Brefugee · 15/12/2022 14:38

it's a weird one. I bought an item from someone (in Berlin, I'm in Germany) that was being sold as an unwanted gift, original packaging unopened.
I bought it, paid by credit card (only option). It just over half the price of the item on Amazon.

2 days later a package arrived, with the item. Brand new. Then 2 days later an invoice from a company requesting payment which was EUR 20 more than the Amazon price.
So the scam was this: they got my money. I had marked the item as received, as i had received it, and Vinted released the payment. The "seller" had my name, address and email, so ordered this item from a 3rd party, who trusted that it was me ordering it. I had to send the item back (at a cost, obvs) and Vinted don't want to know. And my credit card company can't get the payment back because Vinted say it's all fine. But it isn't.
The seller has vanished. But on Twitter i've heard about this happening to many others. So there it is.

I don't trust them.

sayalittleprayerr · 15/12/2022 14:39

Thing is mine doesn't say
Delivered to porch
Or delivered to safe place
It says delivered to customer and I don't want to keep repeating myself but she's left it a hour before I was paid to raise this apparent issue
I have a very very strong gut feeling she's trying to pull a fast one.
She has zero feedback also

Coffeeandcake15 · 15/12/2022 14:42

Unfortunately you probably won’t get your money back. I’d advise anyone to avoid Vinted because of their lack of rules to protect both buyers and sellers, it leaves many people open to scammers. I lost money and have since left the site. If you look at the Trust Pilot reviews you’ll see that many people have lost money through Vinted.

trrk · 15/12/2022 14:48

@Coffeeandcake15 Have you found any other better sites for selling stuff? I switched from EBay to Vinted since EBay always sides with buyer even when they are scamming you but this thread has made me rethink. Annoying since Vinted charge compulsory insurance too, guess it’s just their fee.

Thelnebriati · 15/12/2022 14:51

I've started to wonder, how bad do selling platforms have to get before Trading Standards will step in?

Potatosaladfiend · 15/12/2022 14:52

I hope you get your money OP but I wouldn’t rely on yodel being accurate at all. Packages delivered to us have been marked “delivered to customer” but actually they’d left it with a neighbour. No calling card was left either!
(But as a buyer, yes I’d query the ‘delivered’ status immediately if it hadn’t been!)
