I'm being ripped off aren't I?

Not in a great position with my finances so trying to sell extra bits on vinted to make extra cash for Christmas.
Sold a brand new bottle of perfume and it was delivered on Tuesday.
She was online since then every hour or so and didn't confirm delivery.
A hour before I was due to get funds released she claims it hasn't arrived.
Yodel tracking shows delivered,I have proof of postage,I spoke to yodel customer service who have checked and the drivers sat nav have showed delivery to exact location.
I'm gutted -it's £40 I need
I'm worried vinted will refund her and she has my perfume.
I've forwarded all this to vinted but not hopeful

Buyer hasn't replied to any messages either

Just read these.

@trrk I stick to eBay but to be honest I don’t sell a lot of things, most goes to charity.

sayalittleprayerr · 15/12/2022 14:55

Just checked full tracking and it was delivered through letterbox

Surely a bottle of perfume wouldn’t fit through a letter box in packaging?

sayalittleprayerr · 15/12/2022 15:04

@TruffleShuffles it was a 25ml bottle of perfume in a small Jiffy bag

I’ve PMd you OP x

Surely if Yodel say it was delivered to Customer then it means the customer has it in her possession

There are some scammers about.

Although I did have a signed for delivery that the customer didn’t receive and found it at the delivery office. The postman had signed to say it had been delivered where the customer should have signed but no one was at home so without leaving a card he took it back to the delivery office and put it on a shelf. Only reason I found out it was the postman was I could read his name and the buyer knew the name of there new postman.
You couldn’t make it up sometimes but in your case I think she is getting worried that you aren’t dropping it. Probably thought you just click a button and your money is back in your account.

I am presuming she lives with her mother otherwise the mother having the same initials makes no sense.

I wish there was a list companies like eBay, Vinted etc that could flag those that do this sort of thing on a regular basis as it is theft and you can almost guarantee that the people who do this sort of thing do it over and over. It isn’t a one off.
Even if this is the first time this person has done this if she thinks she can get away with it she will do it again and again as there isn’t any sort of penalty apart from paying what you were supposed to pay for your purchase
Yes their are reviews and people can leave feedback but they can just start another account

I hope you get your money. £40 is a fair chunk in atones book

My amazon deliveries last week all said handed to resident, they weren't i was out and when i asked my neighbours the parcels were next door! I tried to rise a complaint with Amazon but they were only interested if i found them in the end.

TiddleyWink · 15/12/2022 13:03

Ask vinted how exactly you’re supposed to have proof that they received it, beyond confirmation from the courier that they did. What would they expect you to be able to provide? And if the answer is nothing then respond ‘so how am I supposed to protect myself against fraudsters when using your app, or are you actually saying that isn’t possible and that the service isn’t fit for purpose?’

This is perfect

PunishmentSnart · 15/12/2022 15:44

Call her bluff and message her saying you have proof of delivery and Vinted have confirmed they will not refund her. She might panic she'll be outed as a scammer with negative feedback

Hopeyoursproutsarealreadyon · 15/12/2022 15:47

Google her name and 192.
.if indeed her dm lives there with the same initials you will know!
Might help your case with Vinted that she is dishonest..

Coffeeandcake15 · 15/12/2022 15:58

If you do get your money back, make sure you boycott Vinted, supporting a business that thrives on scammers, isn’t one anyone should support.

Flamingopinko · 15/12/2022 16:04

She might be being dishonest and the thing about her mum sounds suspicious to me but I’ve had delivery staff for both Amazon and Royal Mail steal my stuff before. The Amazon one was really blatant and a really expensive item. Amazon just refunded and didn’t seem to care that their driver was on cctv taking away my laptop whilst saying it was delivered to a safe place. I wanted them to chase him down and find it because I needed it on a time limit- but they didn’t care. Also they pay them so poorly it’s little wonder this happens.

PrancerandDancer · 15/12/2022 16:11

I've always found that Vinted have released the money. As a seller they have been pretty good.

sayalittleprayerr · 15/12/2022 16:59

Hopefully il get it
I've showed enough proof she has it

geonosis · 15/12/2022 17:18

Threaten to make it a theft case. Can contact police and get an incident number if necessary. Me I take it to Facebook too!

Usernameisunavailable · 15/12/2022 17:19

It is possible the driver delivered it to the wrong house. A few months ago a lady came round to my house with a parcel for me that was delivered to her house by mistake. It had been left by her bins as the so called “safe place” and a card put through her door. She lived at the same house number as me “21” but in a totally different street. I wouldn’t have known anything about it except for her honesty, as the tracking info just showed it had been delivered. (Which is had been, but to the wrong person).

sayalittleprayerr · 15/12/2022 17:27

@Usernameisunavailable no as yodel sat nav showed delivered to exact location so she deffo has it

OP posts:
ThirtyTwoSea · 15/12/2022 17:35

Interestingly the only issue I’ve ever had with eBay was for perfume. The buyer knew that it was a restricted item on many delivery services so assumed I wouldn’t declare it properly. As soon as I explained I had, they suddenly found the parcel. Not quite sure what their plan was though!

TheNestedIf · 15/12/2022 17:50

I hope you get your money.

However, without a photo of the parcel in the buyer's hands it's very plausible that the problem is Yodel and the buyer has done nothing wrong. I say this from regular personal experience.

I frequently get "handed to customer", or "pushed through letterbox". Well, maybe, but not my letterbox. Only this week, Amazon marked a next day parcel as "delivered" on Sunday, then admitted when I asked that it wasn't arriving until Wednesday. I often don't message sellers in the situation of a missing parcel until the last minute, in case a neighbour I haven't already checked drops the parcel round.

poefaced · 15/12/2022 18:47

I’m in a similar situation. I sold an item and posted it first class signed for via Royal Mail. Buyer has raised a request for a refund saying he hasn’t received it. I’ve provided the tracking number but it says it can’t provide an update until delivery has been attempted.

I do feel for the buyer but I think the Royal Mail strike is the issue.

I may have to refund and claim via Royal Mail.

swg1 · 15/12/2022 19:21

All sorts of things that can explain this.

I won't report something missing until I've checked with a neighbour its not there and checked all the usual random places they leave stuff. I've been embarrassed a time or two by reporting stuff missing that was somewhere I haven't looked so now I wait until I can look. Sometimes this takes a day or two. Online doesn't mean "home and free to see if its in that weird space behind the wheelie bin" or "has time to check its not been given to the house down the road".

AngeloMysterioso · 15/12/2022 19:33

I bought something on ebay which the dumbass seller sent with Hermes… they presumably dumped it on my doorstep (the “proof of delivery” said they’d left it in my porch… I don’t have a porch) while I was out so any passer by could see it and help themselves to it, which I’m guessing is what happened because when I came home there was nothing there.

sayalittleprayerr · 15/12/2022 21:49

Well surprise surprise she hasn't messaged me back.

OP posts:
Claudia84 · 15/12/2022 22:17

It doesn't really matter whether she's telling the truth or not. If the item is lost you'll still get your money. I wouldn't worry about it.
