Host fell asleep at party 😴

I don’t know how to feel about this! I was invited to a girl’s night get together at a friend’s place, from about 7.30pm til late. I was a little late (I let the group know ahead of time) so got there about 8pm. Turns out one friend was sick and the other had an unexpected online meeting so she couldn’t make it either. It was just myself and the friend host. She wasn’t around when I got there, so I chatted with her DS for a while, and watched tv. She came downstairs about half hr later,
apologised and I made nothing of it. The food was all set up on the table buffet setting, so we got stuck in. I hadn’t even finished my plate of food and I looked up, host was sleeping. Throughout the eve she kept falling asleep mid conversation. I should have just got up and left, I’m still wondering why I didn’t. I felt uncomfortable knowing the host is sleepy and yet I thought getting up and leaving would make it further uncomfortable. For purposes of context, we’re not very close friends, just getting to know a new group of friends.

I've got it! The host was driven to drugs after the disappointment of the other guests cancelling, assumed you'd also bail on her too so went upstairs to have a hit, you surprised her by turning up and poor host did her best to appear completely fine but failed.
Maybe just be a good friend, she's clearly struggling.

Host or Horse?

Don't blame her you should have left and maybe contacted her the next day to see if she was ok.
Anyone that tired is tired for a reason.

A neighbour of mine once invited me round for some wine, I got there she was clearly already drunk and she fell asleep after about 15min. It was so awkward... Her sober husband apologised on her behalf and I scooted off home.
She avoided me (or so I thought) for a few months after that, then I moved house and thought that was that.
A couple of years later I bumped into her and she apologised - she is now teetotal and a fully fledged member of alcoholics anon!

We jest but this could actually be true! Maybe not the hard drugs part but she could have had some anti anxiety meds or had a few glasses of wine to calm her nerves and then struggled to stay awake.

@Ineedtosleep79 absolutely. I wasn't 100% jesting, tbf. We all turn to something when things look bleak. I meant it genuinely when I suggested the OP be a good friend and keep an eye on her.
