Just getting a bit pissed off with hypocritical people lately and turn on twitter to find it full of harry and Megan, which got me directing my annoyance at hypocrites to Harry.

I did used to love the guy, and no hate from me here, but what I can't understand is:

  1. The boy (man?) hates the press apparently, yet is in the media every second of his own choosing
  1. He didn't want the press to use Diana for media gains and money making. Now his new netflix documentary appears to be going to do just that, judging by the trailor (which has already exploited Diana for clicks without the documentary even being out yet)
  1. The man professes the royal family are all racist, but HE is the one who wore a nazi uniform, black faced himself, and has used racial slurs to many. (I don't think any of the other royals have gone so far as to dress up as a Nazi have they?)

Sorry for doing another Harry and megs thread, but the hypocrisy has really got to me today for some reason! (maybe PMT!)

If you r fed up with Harry threads, feel to coment on what other people you know have done hypocritical things that drive your nuts!! No need to mention Harry or Megan!

Kate is elegant and still mysterious even after all these years and channels Diana with her shy but determined influence.

Kate is mysterious because even in 2022 she has to toe the line and not have a voice or a opinion, it's so regressive that society expects this!

Diana whether you were a fan or not had huge amounts of charisma & a big presence. Kate doesn't have that, very few people do.

I think what we don't widely understand, know about, is the depths the media sink to to harass celebs/public figures etc. It's not unreasonable for those people to want to use media for their own means whether it be business or personal, such as image. I think Harry rightfully despises the media but understands he can't avoid them so is trying to play the game. The royal family do the same by giving stories they want to get favours in return such as delays in publishing a story or getting one slanted a certain way.
I dob't think Harry is hypocritical by calling out racism against his wife (and children?). It has no relation to his "costume" in his 20's which was an obviously ignorant and immature error. Harry's character was shown in his royal military service and his ongoing support for veterans. He hasn't branded the entire royal family as racist either. With all of the criticism against them they have a right to tell their side. The papers make money off of them with all the salacious headlines they print. I say more power to Harry and Megan to make money using media. What is wrong with it? Is it that we're still holding them to the standard of acting dignified in a certain way and not giving interviews and airing dirty laundry? That standard was broken long ago, I'm afraid and in a much cruder way. Harry and Megan are doing a lot of good charity work and by their willingness to share their personal experiences I think they become more relatable. The fact is the media have stoked a division and keep it going. Regardless of the actions some of the royals took to include and welcome Megan it is clear other actions excluded her. I believe she endured racism and other poor treatment. It was seen in the press fgs! We need to stop minimizing institutional and structural racism.

Why are they allowed to use the media to their advantage, when Megan cut off her own father and never spoke to him after his heart attack, because he dared to pose for a photo so he could take control of his image in the media (he basically did a very mini and insignificant version of what H&M are doing, but M thought it was so bad she had to cut her father out of her life completely)

No, quite right @'stuntbubbles. And @LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet you surely are not suggesting that the press is never completely impartial in the way they report on things? The key word in your comment is wanted - there is a long history of the press picking on one family member and ignoring the bad behviour of others. I am sure there are all kinds of things to do with William that no one wanted to report like his shocking temper tantrums.

So you can both court the press and not expect to be paparazzied? Gotcha.

Prescottdanni123 · 07/12/2022 22:26

Martin Luther-King's granddaughter - a woman whose grandfather got killed by racists has told Meghan in an interview to not play the race card because she didn't get what she wanted.

The only member who has been 100% proven to say and do racist things is Harry. He dressed up as a nazi, called someone a p* and told someone else that they didn't sound like a black person. *

NOTANUM · 07/12/2022 22:27

I was thinking how distinctly middle aged Meghan and Harry are starting to look, as is Catherine and William. The glamorous days are almost behind them and after that, they just look bitter in the same way as Edward and Mrs Simpson did while exiled to Paris.

The Cambridge children are not far off being young dashing princes and princess, with their royal cousins as friends and accomplices. It’s a total shame that Archie and Lillibet will barely know them all.

I hope it’s worth it for Harry.

doorheckk · 07/12/2022 22:28

Fascinating

It really is, I'm not a fan of the RF particularly but the insane hatred of H&M is bizarre, people twist themselves in knots to find something to criticise. What drives people to be so triggered by these strangers, do they see it as personal rejection? I don't get it because I don't believe in being subservient etc.

stuntbubbles · 07/12/2022 21:48

Bonkers isn’t it? Fully expect the Harry and Meghan social media conundrum to be a whole psychology study unit one day. 99% of any thread about them is just bollocks presented as fact, and if you correct the bollocks with a fact people just swerve on to a different accusation like it’s Super Mario Kart but with rumours instead of banana peels. Fascinating.

Gosh, yes, isn't it just so fascinating how so many people are so stupid and wrong, not clever and right like me, even when I patiently correct them? They should really be studied. Fascinating.

🙄

doorheckk · 07/12/2022 22:30

And why do people say they don't care or at aren't interested in them? It's bollocks, look at all the headlines & threads.

doorheckk · 07/12/2022 22:31

@Mumtobabyhavoc far too much logic, too many people can only think in black
& white, no nuance.

Yes, it is. HTH.

theworldhas · 07/12/2022 22:32

It’s all a pantomime. Seriously why do people actually care?

BonnesVacances · 07/12/2022 22:34

@stuntbubbles There's a PhD right there! The speed it goes from made up bullshit to fact is more than fascinating.

doorheckk · 07/12/2022 22:34

Why are they allowed to use the media to their advantage

Because they can do what they want, they don't need to care what you think, why would they?

theworldhas · 07/12/2022 22:35

It’s kind of entertaining in a twisted sort of way, but it boggles my kind why people actually get worked up about Harry and Meghan. They’re just two rich celebs spouting BS, their principal target being a selfserving and corrupt megabucks institution. Who gives a flying one either way except for the odd bit of comic relief.

theworldhas · 07/12/2022 22:32

Because they're like a bad rash and they come back again and again with the same complaints that they love to rehash, sprinkled with the most hypocritical platitudes. I wish them well poor sods, but I don't want to hear from them every day.

I don’t understand why people can’t understand that things change.

I’m sure the media coverage, Oprah interview etc came after the royal family cut H&M off?

Don’t they have a huge security bill to protect themselves and small children, so they need a decent income too fund that? So of course they’re going to do that in whatever way they can?

I’m sure I read somewhere that they’re seen as the poor neighbours in Montecito - tiniest house on the street.

i'm not sure how they expect these guys to make money? they told hem to piss off, they did! told them to pay up, they did! what more do they want? What does a prince do once he isn't funded by royalty??

Really bored and pissed off at them now, whinging and whining at this and that.
They will make money from this Netflix deal. They are exploiting their connections. They both are full of shit.

billybear · 07/12/2022 23:11

laughing i read the title in a rush thought it said its a hairy one, was expecting bikini line/hairy chins etc, made me laugh

Pandor · 07/12/2022 23:12

Has anyone ever laid out the precise rules as to when you are, and aren’t allowed to dress up as a Nazi without that demonstrating that you are in fact terribly racist?

Ralph Feinnes put in an incredible performance as Amon Goeth in Schindler’s List, but presumably that didn’t make him a racist as it was a very serious film.

The whole Mel Brooks “Springtime for Hitler” routine in the Producers was done for laughs, but presumably isn’t evidence of appalling racism either?

I used to watch a lot of Allo Allo as a child and don’t ever remember Richard Gibson being hounded by accusations of racism for his portrayal of Herr Flick of the gestapo, but perhaps I missed it.

In fact, I suspect there are literally countless examples of people dressing as Nazis over the years that have gone utterly unremarked upon.

it’s almost as if the motivation behind someone dressing up as a Nazi, whether that it is to make a serious point, to make people laugh, or to showcase their love and support of Far Right political views, is actually really important.

You could almost say that whilst a young prince dressing up as a Nazi amongst friends in the context of a fancy dress night is clearly naive, it doesn’t “necessarily” demonstrate an actual love of nazis or reveal any deep seated racism.

But no…much simpler to just call him a racist.

Bollindger · 07/12/2022 23:15

To be honest, I would be very very scared if I were Harry and Meghan, they will have Millions of people fact checking their every word

Look how fast we all pegged them in that interview, for the lies.
Now they are giving us 6 episodes of ammo.

Hmm Yes, that’s the same as what I said. Or… where’s the William-bashing for attending a party with that theme? He got off Scott-free.

He didn’t wear a Nazi uniform. That’s a huge difference
