Sorry it's a harry one

Just getting a bit pissed off with hypocritical people lately and turn on twitter to find it full of harry and Megan, which got me directing my annoyance at hypocrites to Harry.

I did used to love the guy, and no hate from me here, but what I can't understand is:

  1. The boy (man?) hates the press apparently, yet is in the media every second of his own choosing
  1. He didn't want the press to use Diana for media gains and money making. Now his new netflix documentary appears to be going to do just that, judging by the trailor (which has already exploited Diana for clicks without the documentary even being out yet)
  1. The man professes the royal family are all racist, but HE is the one who wore a nazi uniform, black faced himself, and has used racial slurs to many. (I don't think any of the other royals have gone so far as to dress up as a Nazi have they?)

Sorry for doing another Harry and megs thread, but the hypocrisy has really got to me today for some reason! (maybe PMT!)

If you r fed up with Harry threads, feel to coment on what other people you know have done hypocritical things that drive your nuts!! No need to mention Harry or Megan!

They never said that. They said they wanted to pursue financial independence, and not be full-time working royals. The royal family wouldn’t let them do half-in, half-out, and now here we are. But they never wanted to remove themselves from public life – and it would be fairly odd for an actress to want to do so, so I don’t know why people have bought into this narrative planted by Kensington Palace.

They did want privacy, they just used wanky LA terminology like “space to focus” and “next chapter”

BonnesVacances · 07/12/2022 21:29
  1. It's not that difficult to understand the difference between intense media intrusion against your will and managing media coverage on your own terms. Try it. It's really easy to understand when you try.
  1. A trailer is sensationalised. It's also produced by Netflix, not H&M. They'll likely have had editorial control on the programme (I'd hope), probably not the trailer. Diana is shown in the trailer as a comparison between her life (and subsequent death) under intense media scrutiny and Harry's desire to protect his family under the same. Maybe watch the programme before forming a view on it?
  1. When did Harry profess that all the RF are racist? IIRC he said he was (rightly) unhappy that the baby's skin colour would be a point of contention and something he should think about before entering into a serious relationship with someone who is mixed race.

And when did he use racist slurs? Do you actually remember the circumstances or are you just repeating something you heard?

If anyone is best placed to understand the casual racism in both the RF and the aristocracy/ upper class society, and be aware of how naive he was then, it's Harry who lived and breathed it. Fair play to him for confronting those and educating himself about inequality and racial prejudice. Maybe the public won't be happy until he's self-flagellating over it. But then he'd be accused of attention seeking. So I guess we'll leave it up to H&M to resolve that themselves, eh? Which one would assume they have done, seeing as they are married with 2 DC.

Ps - some of the royals WERE actual nazis - the queens uncle David who abdicated was a big supporter of HItler and it was widely felt in artiso circles that they would rather have the Nazis than the Russians. He was so partial that he leaked was secrets to the germans - which is well documented. There is apparently film of the queen and Margaret being taught the Nazi salute by him in the garden at Windsor.

You can’t just make stuff up! ‘They said “this” but I’m choosing to interpret it as “that”.’ They just wanted out of the royal family; anyone expecting two such enormously famous people who’d just had a televised wedding and set up a big website etc etc to want to disappear quietly and seek privacy has some serious cognitive dissonance going on.

People do things when they are young which are stupid - they can learn better as they get older which he appears to have done. Haven't heard about him using racist slurs. But did read that one of the things that pissed Harry off is that a lot of the things that he got pilloried for (the nazi uniform) William did too. But the heir could not be called out on that publicly, so Harry took the fall for both of them.

When did William wear a Nazi uniform

Re racial slurs - Harry was filmed in the army calling colleagues P**i

PicturesOfDogs · 07/12/2022 21:34

They didn’t want privacy, they wanted to control the narrative.

And I really don’t blame them tbh. I wouldn’t like to live in a gilded cage either.

They should have just left, got on with their lives and enjoyed their lovely children. Not one person I know has ever said anything negative about them wanting to leave.

But what happened is that they indicated they wanted to be financially independent, without seemingly ever considering how to actually do this.
And then seemed surprised to be ‘cut off’ after saying this publicly?

Then their first thought on how to make money seemed to be slagging off the RF.

They needed to focus on themselves, yet they’ve declared all out war.
It seems that because they didn’t get their way they now want to burn the whole thing to the ground.

I feel like this is going to get very messy for them

You think more people support H&M than they do the Queen? Even though polls have shown a steady drop in support for the Sussexes.

And I disagree that the Queen supported Diana when she went on TV and claimed there were “3 of us in this marriage” (yeah Di and the rest, what about all the married men you were shagging). She supported her institution. Why do you think she supported Diana?

You’ve misunderstood my post. (Or maybe I didn’t explain properly, I’m knackered)

At the time of Diana there was more support for the queen than there was for Diana.

The queen is no longer with us and Charles is not as popular as his mother was. The “Royal family” is now more vulnerable as a result.

I never said the queen supported Diana.

For the record, I didn’t like Diana either and can’t understand the public obsession with her. The whole lot of them are a joke. The sooner “the Monarchy” is abolished the better.

awaynboilyurheid · 07/12/2022 21:36

Such hypocrites, especially Harry who said he felt every click of the camera reminded him of his mother, however happy to be filmed/ photographed close up at American award ceremonies. Megan’s loves the limelight, and falling out with her own family/ staff seems to come very easily to her, so much that she encourages a victim mentality in Harry.
But Me gan was never going to accept being second to Kate.

🎻

Poor H&M and their tiny tiny house

I'll happily swap my house if they are finding theirs too small! I'm sure my 3 bed bungalow will be affordable for them so the will no longer need to make netflix documentaries to fund their current lifestyle.

He was a nazi sympathiser not a member of the Nazi party. But he’s he was a shocking man - thank god he abdicated

These two said ages ago that they wanted to back off public life, so? Why on earth are they all over netflix? And worst... the news? Almost daily this week.
I used to be indiferent, now I am fed up.
Anythingvand everything for money! It is pathetic!

Agree!

They wanted financial independence - but still to have enough money to enjoy the life they’ve been accustomed to. And the way they e done that is by trashing his family and telling porkie pies. They moan about all this intrusion, but there’s absolutely no evidence of it, and they expose themselves to the media when they fancy it.

Also given the no-paparazzi agreement between the RF and British press, any paparazzo they allegedly came across would be from foreign press. The UK was the only place they were protected from press intrusion. Why move to a country that is dangerous and that won’t respect them as much?

Very well known.

Edward was vey pro nazi, and had an agreement to be a puppet leader for the Nazis.

Half of Prince Philips family were Nazis, most of his sisters were married to Nazis.

I’ve seen this used as a slur against Philip, to indicate he was also a Nazi, when he literally fought in a war against them. It’s crazy.

Oh I see, my apologies!

The Queen was more popular than Diana - but less popular than she was before in the 90’s when everything seemed to go to shit for the RF.

Charles is not unpopular. Most people still support a monarchy and it seems it’s been so long since he was VERY unpopular, it’s been a while since we’ve heard calls for him to abdicate and pass the title onto William. It’s highly unlikely that M&H will ever be more loved than the RF in the UK. I doubt they care because their target audience is not the US and that’s where they want to make their mark.

BonnesVacances · 07/12/2022 21:44

Bonkers isn’t it? Fully expect the Harry and Meghan social media conundrum to be a whole psychology study unit one day. 99% of any thread about them is just bollocks presented as fact, and if you correct the bollocks with a fact people just swerve on to a different accusation like it’s Super Mario Kart but with rumours instead of banana peels. Fascinating.

Yes, this is the apology from a spokesman that was reported.
It never came from him, and he’s personally never acknowledged it.

He should have, because whether it’s an in joke between friends or a nickname or whatever, once it became public it affected Asian people in society. People who had been called that word in a not so jovial manner.

He owed them an apology, and he never gave it.
The spokesman didn’t even mention that anyone else other then his friend might have been offended.

And now he’s receiving awards for fighting racism.

And mental health! The man who when asked why he didn’t help his suicidal wife, while heading up a mental health charity, said it was because he was ashamed

Its not great really, is it
