Are women getting angrier?

Bosebeau · 07/12/2022 08:52

The BBC have published an article about rising anger and stress levels in women…as if this is news!

Yes I am angry. I am angry that equality means I get out to go and have a job whilst still having to pick up most of the domestic work at home. I am angry that I pay most of the bills, but still have to be the one who organises Christmas, birthdays, the weekly food shop and even pull the damn blinds every morning.

I am angry that when I bring it up with my partner I am told “just tell me what you want me to do and I’ll do it”….you’re 40 fucking years old, the floor is dirty you shouldn’t need to be told to put the hoover round.

Im angry that the washing basket is overflowing with his clothes because they haven’t been washed in 5 weeks, but I’ve stopped doing his washing to see at what point he notices.

bloody hell BBC.

I'm fucking livid.

Ankleblisters · 07/12/2022 08:55

I'm angry that someone thinks you're being unreasonable when your anger is the most reasonable thing I've heard this week. YANBU and keep ignoring his washing!

shivawn · 07/12/2022 08:56

I'm not angry but I love my job and my husband and I are a good team at home.

PinkPlantCase · 07/12/2022 08:56

I know I’m missing the point but your relationship doesn’t sound very healthy. Surely your wait and see game with the washing is just winding you up. Tell him you want him to do his washing if you do. Sounds a bit petty tbh.

There are lots of things to make women angry but your relationship with your partner is something you have some control over

Axolotlquestions · 07/12/2022 08:58

I agree the OP should skip the passive aggressive approach and have a very clear conversation about her needs.

Whatafool123 · 07/12/2022 08:58

Me too, about everything you say OP. And I am angry about misogyny everywhere in the world that i can do nothing about. FGM makes me rage! Leave little girls' and women's bodies alone, FFS! Furious.

And I am now also furious with US Rowing for rank hypocrisy.

It's very tiring, tbh.

Dittosaw · 07/12/2022 08:58

Are they getting angrier or do they finally have the freedom and an outlet to express their anger? Did our grandmothers feel angry at not being allowed to work, own property, at being raped in marriage, at having to stay virgins until marriage etc?

I don’t feel particularly angry but if I feel there is injustice I will say so and I have outlets and groups that will listen and understand.

CrackingcheeseWallace · 07/12/2022 08:59

Agree OP. Sick of it. DH is great...when I ask him to do something...🤦‍♀️ why can't they (kids and DH) see the dirt, dust, dirty washing, full & clean dishwasher that needs emptying though??? Baffling. 🙄 I've stopped doing loads of stuff but then I end up screaming at them when the untidiness gets too much...and they all stare, goggle eyed wondering why Mum has lost her shit again. FFS.

Itisbetter · 07/12/2022 08:59

Well that makes me feel angry for you, but you know that’s him don’t you?

I don’t care if someone thinks women are getting angrier. It’s an emotion, people have those. Perhaps women are getting happier and more empowered to show their emotions? Perhaps men are becoming more empathetic. Most likely someone needed to be paid to research and someone got paid to write an article.

barneshome · 07/12/2022 08:59

you need to get a better husband
I am not angry at all

Axolotlquestions · 07/12/2022 09:00

Low expectations from their mother and previous girlfriends etc. We have to breed this out of them.

hamstersarse · 07/12/2022 09:00

I don’t feel particularly angry but I often fantasise about fucking it all off and disappearing to a remote island. So maybe that’s just ‘past angry’

starfro · 07/12/2022 09:00

OP - I think you need to work on your communication skills.

ForTheLoveOfSleep · 07/12/2022 09:04

I don;t think women are getting angrier, just more willing to show emotion and not feel as though we have to models of sterotypical decorum all the time.

I'm not angry. I'm a SAHM so the heavier domestic share does fall to me when he's at work but the second my husband is home it's 50/50. He's up a 6am everyday so on weekends by the time me and the children get up he's already given the house a quiet tidy and is making breakfast.

Your anger seems to be from a situation of your own making OP. Your relationship sounds shite.

Toloveandtowork · 07/12/2022 09:04

Women collectively need to get even more angry, and use that as fuel for change.
Yes, I'm very angry too. Single mother for eight years doing all the graft with two children, so that it's very hard or impossible to meet my own needs.
Anger is good, a natural response to not having needs met.
I'm trying to forge a way to make life more fulfilling.

Phrenologistsfinger · 07/12/2022 09:05

I’m furious - not only is the world on fire (climate change) and biodiversity is dropping like a stone and noone wants to do anything about it, our politicians are venous cretins and I’ve lost 12 pregnancies in 2.5 years, been pumped full of 4 IVF rounds of high dose hormones and steroids (roid rage is a thing) and I am
not even allowed to call myself a sodding woman anymore so as not to offend ‘vulnerable mXn’! Fvck this, I’m raging.

CrazyJoPavlova · 07/12/2022 09:05

I hear you, OP. I’m angry too. “Communication” means fuck all when the men/children/whomever in your life act as if their ears are painted on. Solidarity, Sister ♥️

Jellycatspyjamas · 07/12/2022 09:06

I think a woman expressing any dissenting opinion gets categorised as angry. I also think as a woman, if you’re not angry about some of the shit show that is women’s rights just now you’re not paying attention.

Chickenvoicesinmyhead · 07/12/2022 09:14

Sorry, just had Gerald from Not the 9'oclock News pop into my head. Wild? I was livid...

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 07/12/2022 09:17

Words like 'stroppy' and 'bossy' are rarely if ever used about men. Women's anger has a tendency to be seen as irrational and 'hysteria' - another word tending to be used exclusively for us.

I'm not angry about our division of paid vs. home labour. We both pull our weight equally in that respect, and if one of us is going through a particularly stressful period or is unwell, the other will pick up the slack for a while without a murmur about it.

I'm still angry. I'm angry that I simply walking down the street minding my own business might well bring an injunction to 'smile love!' I'm angry about being a victim of misogynistic abuse - two instances of rape, two more of stalking, countless instances of lower-level unwanted sexist conduct - at the hands of men. I'm angry that men - sometimes it's women but usually is men - telling me I'm not allowed to talk about those experiences, and that I've faced further abuse for daring to speak up. I'm angry that women's healthcare is secondary to that of men as 'default' humans, that women's health concerns are taken less seriously and that we need to fight harder to have them listened to. I'm angry that I'm expected to cede over my own spaces to men to spare their hurt feelings whilst my involuntary trauma responses are dismissed as a triviality.

I'm angry as fuck.

I'm super angry at our government..Can't wait for general election

Axolotlquestions · 07/12/2022 09:25

Rule of Misogyny 13. Angry women are crazy. Angry men have trouble expressing themselves.

bellinisurge · 07/12/2022 09:28

Op, your partner is a lazy cock lodger. And yes, I'm angry about a lot of things about the way women are being disregarded by men's rights activists masquerading as trans rights activists.

SeenAndNot · 07/12/2022 09:28

Are women angry or just standing up for themselves?
