The BBC have published an article about rising anger and stress levels in women…as if this is news!

Yes I am angry. I am angry that equality means I get out to go and have a job whilst still having to pick up most of the domestic work at home. I am angry that I pay most of the bills, but still have to be the one who organises Christmas, birthdays, the weekly food shop and even pull the damn blinds every morning.

I am angry that when I bring it up with my partner I am told “just tell me what you want me to do and I’ll do it”….you’re 40 fucking years old, the floor is dirty you shouldn’t need to be told to put the hoover round.

Im angry that the washing basket is overflowing with his clothes because they haven’t been washed in 5 weeks, but I’ve stopped doing his washing to see at what point he notices.

that's a very black & white take on things....the most successful predators don't reveal their true colours until the victim is locked down & powerless. They have a lot to gain from fooling women into being their servants, that's why they put so much effort in!

No, I'd imagine she's angry because she chose a decent person to marry, who has ended up to be shit in some very predictable ways.
This type of behaviour is so very prevalent and the bar so low, that unless he also abuses her, cheats or is an alcoholic, in the eyes of the world he's probably quite the catch.
This isn't about one woman making an unwise choice, it's about the creeping realisation for many women that even a relatively good choice is often simply not good enough. Especially in the context of the other challenges and barriers unique to women.

The majority (by here and friends' experiences anyway) don't reveal their shitness until children and the responsibilities that comes with them comes along. I think many, many men have deep rooted ideas about what a woman's role is, which are kept well hidden in the early wooing, dating, rope you in days. Then it's too late.

My colleague's husband sounds horrific. Not physically abusive but coercive and manipulative who cannot decide for himself what to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner until she relents and does it for him. Ditto cleaning etc. She swears blind he wasn't like that until marriage/kid/mortgage came along.

You’re talking to intelligent grown women (defined as adult female human) who have had enough of men trying to dictate their lives, invading spaces, mutilating children, putting forward an ideology which gives rapists access to women in prison, vulnerable women in hospital, both of which have led to rapes.

It's possible to be generally happy, not have 'self hatred' as you say, and have anger at situations. The erosion of women's right to sex based spaces is a valid one. Trans people have the same rights as everyone else. It's a select group from that section that incites anger in women, and justifiably so.

Men used to use the very tired "You'll be 40 with no kids and no husband, only you and your cats." As a means to terrify women and now that women are replying that that sounds fine to them it's really put the shitters up the men. If a woman can now be financially independent and have ostensibly no 'need' for a man then where does that leave the men. There's a reason why childfree single women and married men live longest with greater reports of happiness. I don't think it's so much that women have become angry, I think they now have the platforms and means to really say it with no fear.
