Were couple in M&S queue cunty fuckers?

Really busy in M&S today, I just had a couple of items to buy. I glanced down the queues and picked the one that looked quickest. There was a big shop on the belt but only one person queuing with one item in her hand.
Just as there was room for her to put her item on the belt her partner turned up with a trolley. I’m not exaggerating to say this trolley was loaded as high as it was possible to load it.
So Aibu to think it is not ok to hold a place in a queue like this?

Have been known to fire my shopping on floor in this situation and stomp out... Difficult to return the next day as relative is the store manager.

HangerLaneGyratorySystem · 02/12/2022 15:15

I think this is professional level Cunty Fuckery but I bet others will think it’s nothing 🤷‍♀️

monsteronahill · 02/12/2022 15:16

Hmm I wouldn't be too fussed, it would have been nice for them to let you go first with a few items though!

HangerLaneGyratorySystem · 02/12/2022 15:16

See? Told you. 😉

squashyhat · 02/12/2022 15:17

What did they say when you challenged them?

PuttingDownRoots · 02/12/2022 15:17

One or two extra items... fine. More than original queuer has is unreasonable

caramac04 · 02/12/2022 15:17

Of course it’s unfair. Me being somewhat gobby would have said something. My DH would rather I didn’t.

Pineapple41 · 02/12/2022 15:19

Yup, massive twats.

MavisMcMinty · 02/12/2022 15:20

All the same shop but in two trolleys? Fair enough, my partner and I do the same, but I would have warned you that there was another trolley coming. If it was a separate shop, each partner buying their own trolleyful, then yes, that would be wrong to queue-jump, particularly as you had so few items. If someone had come up behind me with just a couple of items, as I was unloading my trolley onto the conveyer belt, I’d’ve waved them through before me, if the cashier hadn’t started ringing mine through yet.

But I always, always, always pick the wrong checkout queue, I should wear a sign to warn off other shoppers.

Would that get you anywhere?

WalkingOnSonshine · 02/12/2022 15:24

I’d be annoyed in somewhere like Aldi that doesn’t have the self-service checkout machines, but I’d be surprised at an M&S store that doesn’t have them.

Izzabellasasperella · 02/12/2022 15:26

I would have smiled and said could I go through in front as I only have a few bits? With a thank you if they said yes.

😂 the perfect x post!!

123woop · 02/12/2022 15:32

I do a big shop (and I mean, BIG!) when I go as I hate having to nip back for things during the week.
I always always let people with less go in front of me even if they've got a basket full of items. It really pisses me off when people don't!

Sonyrecording · 02/12/2022 15:38

So I'm not the only one who reads CF as Cunty Fucker 😂

DeeofDenmark · 02/12/2022 15:38

I didn’t challenge them but didn’t hide my surprise and looked pointedly back and forth between my shopping and the fully laden trolley. The guy just gave me the biggest cheesy grin in return. The queue for the self service was winding round the store and as I had alcohol I knew I would need a real person to authorise it. I think I just don’t do much shopping in person anymore and it was the cherry on the cake after fighting round the shop in amongst crowds of people.

kittenkipping · 02/12/2022 15:39

Cheeky fuckers imo. I go so far as to feel it's wrong when one half of a shop team "nip" to grab a few bits (read an armful- fine for a forgotten loaf or milk) . Once you are in the queue that's that to me. No add ons, otherwise it makes it impossible to judge which queue to join!

Blanketpolicy · 02/12/2022 15:39

I would have said something if they still insisted on queue jumping I would have stayed calmed but been awkward and asked the staff or their manager to sort it out.

These CFers only keep up this behaviour because noone challenges them.

Fancylike · 02/12/2022 15:41

Really annoying. If she was waiting for someone to bring the bulk of her shopping, then she should have waved you through.

I was similarly fucked off yesterday at a store that had two registers but just one queue with about 3 people in it. I joined behind as seemed very obviously that both registers would call people from the central queue as they became free. I’d look like a pushy arsehole if I tried to start queuing directly in front of either register instead.

Of course when the queue got to me being the next to go to a register, someone started lining up in front of the one slightly further away from the central queue. I said oh the line is behind me, but he just blanked me and the bloody useless cashier waved him over.

Fuckface, I thought, but stayed waiting as surely I was next at the other register. Nope! The two women there decided to start querying the price of everything scanned, and had selected display items so needed to wait for the boxed one to be brought over. Meanwhile others were lining up in the fake queue, and 3 of these newcomers were checked out while these women held up their register. I should have just started my own line to begin with!

😂This is what I guessed too!

NoSquirrels · 02/12/2022 15:45

Very cheeky. I’d have said ‘Gosh! I’d have picked a different queue if I’d known. It’ll take you a while to unload, do you mind if I go in front of you then?’

Don’t ask don’t get etc.

GlitteryGreen · 02/12/2022 15:45

I don't think they did anything wrong by only one of them waiting in te queue, but I would definitely expect them to let you go ahead with your couple of items.

Blossomtoes · 02/12/2022 15:46

Cheeky fuckery at its finest.

Just to restore faith in human nature, a woman in Tesco’s today with a huge trolley packed to the brim waved the woman behind her with a couple of items ahead. It was a lovely thing to see.

NotQuiteHere · 02/12/2022 15:47

Could you just ask them to let you go first? It would not do any (more) harm. People should talk rather than "look pointedly".

That’s just as shitty though, to throw a tantrum. Some poor staff member has to put it all away.
