Not even a little bit racist, though given the way words meaning are used, misused, conflated, invented, they have very little actual meaning any more.

You'd use this language?

To think this is racist?

You don't think the last page about what 'some of these Asian people are doing' is racist?

To be honest, I could not careless what some random posts on Facebook it only offends you if you let it. If you read shit expect to get shit. Report it to Facebook and move on. He'll should be just burn every piece of text that offends us or just ignore it or remove it from your life.

gobbynorthernbird · 01/12/2022 18:58

warn people about what some of these Asian people are doing

Yup, that's racist.

Yes this.
I didn't realise there were 4 pages so initially didn't think so but the last page and the above sentence yes it's racist.

Sparklfairy · 01/12/2022 19:03

It doesn't surprise me one bit. There are many dark corners of Kent that are inherently racist, slurs are just used as normal language, proud brexit voters to get rid of the "forriners" etc.

One Asian man doing something, and she's "warning" people about Asian men as a collective. That's racist, end of story.

SadSackSam · 01/12/2022 19:03

There's just no need to mention nationality or ethnicity etc.
Not all kidnappers are Asian and not all Asians are kidnappers.
To mention it is just inciting racism and hatred, and there's enough of that in the world already.

Mangogogogo · 01/12/2022 19:04

Happy to use a variation of a common Arabic name for her little princess though

Daisy03 · 01/12/2022 19:05

The first time his race was mentioned it was a description, the second time it was racist

AccioChocolate · 01/12/2022 19:05

I think it's a bit weird that in a story where she claimed her child was being abducted she posted a little 'on my holibobs plane emoji'.

Or that she'd give this much info about an ongoing investigation and risk the person not getting in any trouble at all.

And Ashford High Street is one of the darkest. Trust me.

Sparklfairy · 01/12/2022 19:05

In fact, as she's so trigger happy getting the police involved, I'd be inclined to report her for hate speech, but then I'm a shit stirrer like that.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 01/12/2022 19:08

Why all the preamble about getting 'holiday nails' done?

Whataretheodds · 01/12/2022 19:13

NotDavidTennant · 01/12/2022 18:57

Yes it's racist. The people saying otherwise clearly haven't read all the way to the end.

This.

If you don't agree try switching the word 'Asian' for 'short' or 'tall'.

Ramble0n · 01/12/2022 19:13

I doubt it's true anyway. FB is full of this racist bollocks.

YumSushi · 01/12/2022 19:16

Why are you even having to ask? Why are you doubting yourself?

TulaDoesTheHula · 01/12/2022 19:16

Mangogogogo · 01/12/2022 19:04

And? Are you assuming she’s white with no Arabic connections? We have no idea of her own ethnicity or religious background. All we can deduce is that she’s probably not Chinese.

FOJN · 01/12/2022 19:18

The first mention of the man's heritage could very reasonably be interpreted as descriptive.

The two further references to his race are racist because they are not descriptive and generalise about Asian men.

I would like to point out that the man in question did try to defend his attempted abduction by saying it was a "cultural misunderstanding", the quotations marks suggest it is a direct quote.

EscapeRoomToTheSun · 01/12/2022 19:20

Absolutely racist and probably bollocks.

marzipaninyourpieplatebingo · 01/12/2022 19:22

this…with bells on

JohnStuartMill · 01/12/2022 19:22

The OP, 'Toospicey', has played you.

MRSDoos · 01/12/2022 19:27

“Help warn people about what some of these Asian people are doing” is racist

I didn’t see anything racist in the first couple of pages, more a description

Toospicey · 01/12/2022 19:27

YumSushi · 01/12/2022 19:16

Why are you even having to ask? Why are you doubting yourself?

Because none of the FB comments mentioned that it's racist.
I live in Kent and I'm used to hearing some awful comments about the boat arrivals. I wondered if I spend so long arguing against racism that I was looking for it where it doesn't exist?
I'm glad to see some people on here agree with me.

There may be a tiny grain of truth (mother believed Layla was about to be abducted) amidst all the goady exaggerated bollocks.

The police for starters would not be giving this woman the amount of information she claims to have been given.

The Home Office would certainly not be telling the police that China can't give information as to why he claimed asylum. That bit is farcical. Someone claims asylum in the UK and the UK authorities contact their home country to ask why? Bollocks do they.

She'd have had more credibility had she said the perp was Nepalese given that in the tumbleweed that's Ashford High Street the only Asians (apart from my students who attend the school) are the Nepalese families who have been in the area for generations. Mind you, she probably can't spell that.

Nothing in the local press about it.

And Layla being so traumatised will have nothing at all to do with her ignorant racist redneck mother shouting her mouth off all over SM.

This!!

LikeTearsInRain · 01/12/2022 19:31

If it was a white British man would have posted the exact same story in the same way? Warning people of middle aged white British men out in the streets doing this. I do doubt it.
