You should be more concerned that a man who tried to grab a child is still out there...

It isn't racist to point out someone's ethnicity and it seems his immigration status contributed to him wriggling out of being charged.

Of course the parents are going to be massively pissed off.

thehorsehasnowbolted · 01/12/2022 19:32

You are more worried about being 'racist' than a child potentially being abducted? Blimey!

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 01/12/2022 19:34

Of course it's racist.

ditherydotty · 01/12/2022 19:35

No ffs it's not, it is however quite concerning that a potential child abduction could of taken place

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 01/12/2022 19:35

"warn people about what some of these Asian people are doing "

Could definitely read as racist Confused

Regardless of the ethnicity of the predator what a frightening experience for that family

It never happened.

Lost me at holiday nails

Shit.... another thing to add to the holiday list.

There may be a tiny grain of truth (mother believed Layla was about to be abducted) amidst all the goady exaggerated bollocks.

The police for starters would not be giving this woman the amount of information she claims to have been given.

The Home Office would certainly not be telling the police that China can't give information as to why he claimed asylum. That bit is farcical. Someone claims asylum in the UK and the UK authorities contact their home country to ask why? Bollocks do they.

She'd have had more credibility had she said the perp was Nepalese given that in the tumbleweed that's Ashford High Street the only Asians (apart from my students who attend the school) are the Nepalese families who have been in the area for generations. Mind you, she probably can't spell that.

Nothing in the local press about it.

And Layla being so traumatised will have nothing at all to do with her ignorant racist redneck mother shouting her mouth off all over SM.

Yes. This. Way too much story telling going on. And way too similar to the "fake abduction" posts that are on nextdoor and the like all the time.

ohyouknowwhatshername · 01/12/2022 19:36

They mentioned a cultural misunderstanding. That's why it said to look out for Asian men. That's all.

Zanatdy · 01/12/2022 19:37

Yes, last page is. No all would be kidnappers are Asian, fact. No need to accuse a whole continent of this

SpotlessMind88 · 01/12/2022 19:37

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 01/12/2022 18:53

Have those who are saying it's a description actually read the whole thing? I was in agreement until the last page

Agree! The last page is racist

amylou8 · 01/12/2022 19:38

How is that racist? His defence is that there's been a cultural misunderstanding. Aside from the fact it is a description, saying he is Asian was necessary to put that in context.

BedTaker · 01/12/2022 19:39

Yes, I think the last page is a bit racist tbh.

Then again, the complete and utter refusal to acknowledge race or culture was how groups of men got away with raping and assaulting young girls for years in places like Rotherham.

There is a thread in the FWR section at the moment about being allowed to discuss the impact of men from other cultures and how they see women in the UK.

As an aside, the terrible grammar in that post made me cringe.

Butchyrestingface · 01/12/2022 19:41

Yup. Somebody doesn't like Asians.

SoundsOfThunder · 01/12/2022 19:44

"Cultural misunderstanding" seems like a very odd reason to give. Why not make up some actual reason? He thought she was lost or she went up to him or whatever.
Wtf is his cultural misunderstanding.
I think the whole thing is odd.

arthurfonzerelli · 01/12/2022 19:46

AccioChocolate · 01/12/2022 19:05

I think it's a bit weird that in a story where she claimed her child was being abducted she posted a little 'on my holibobs plane emoji'.

Or that she'd give this much info about an ongoing investigation and risk the person not getting in any trouble at all.

The way it was written was 🙄

Exaggerated, overly emotive, over the top drivel. Nobody needs to know about them getting their "holiday nails" done.

"Asian" description on first page was a description. Not racist.

The "Asian man" comment later on and then the wanting about "what these Asians are up to" - yes, racist.

MereDintofPandiculation · 01/12/2022 19:48

Murdoch1949 · 01/12/2022 18:48

How is it racist? The potential abductor was identified as Asian, that's not racist. Saying all Asians are abductors is racist.

That’s pretty well what the last page says

Eatglass · 01/12/2022 19:50

Definitely racist and i doubt any of that happened.

arthurfonzerelli · 01/12/2022 19:51

Further to my last post in agreement that the fb post was racist.....this is also a good point.

Still don't agree with the way the post was worded (for so many reasons) but I think instances like Rotherham, and the race issues at play, can't be ignored.

HeraldicBlazoning · 01/12/2022 19:52

It's fine to say that a Chinese man attempted to abduct your child as that is a matter of fact. It is not fine to make general statements about warning "what these Asians are up to".

It is VERY badly written though, lots of "we was" and they were "wondering" through the shopping centre "ect". Also naming her child - not cool. If it's even real. Which being on Facebook, it's probably not.

HeraldicBlazoning · 01/12/2022 19:53

Funny how there has been no mention of this serious incident on news media.

It's almost as if someone's made the whole thing up.

AnxiousStepparent · 01/12/2022 19:55

Unless it's for the purposes of a police report, I don't see that there is any need to say whether he was 'Asian' or otherwise. The last page is racist as it's insinuating that people should be wary of all Asians based on this event.

CourtneeLuv · 01/12/2022 19:57

Ramble0n · 01/12/2022 19:01

She says 'to warn people about what some of these Asian people are doing'

You think that's ok?

Well, it's not like there aren't many, many, documented cases of Asian grooming gangs is there.

I don't think think this is racist.

TiptoeThroughTheToadstools · 01/12/2022 19:58

Not racist at all, but I'm not sure said parent would appreciate it being posted on mumsnet without her permission, there is a lot of outing information on the post that was not yours to share. I think you should remove the screen shots.
