DH says this is gross

Snipped open the plastic on a pizza with kitchen scissors. Then used same scissors to cut the pizza into slices. DH actually said this was “vile and unsanitary” as the plastic could have been exposed to anything.

I’ll admit that for things like this I’m on the more disgusting end of the spectrum and he’s on the more disgusted but I honestly thought this was uncontroversial?

Your husband needs to get a life.

Personally, I would have used my fingers to rip the plastic off and a pizza cutter to cut the pizza. But as long as the pizza is ready to go in the oven, I couldn't get worked up about how you opened it.

Blossomandbee · 11/11/2022 17:31

Unless there was raw meat on the pizza I wouldn't see a problem. Kitchen tools aren't sterile anyway and he's probably touched food after touching food packaging.

takealettermsjones · 11/11/2022 17:32

I mean technically he's right but... I can't live my life like that. I don't wash the tops of drinks cans either. 😱

cosypeppermint · 11/11/2022 17:33

He’s being weird.

Not sure about wrecking scissors by using them to cut pizza though? Get a pizza cutter!

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 11/11/2022 17:33

The kitchen scissors that have been rattling around in your kitchen drawer touching other implements that while clean are not sterile? Those scissors?

He's over reacting a little.

Bitterbean · 11/11/2022 17:36

If the scissors were just from the drawer and not cleaned first it is bit gross. Less so the plastic connection. But I really don't like pizza being cut with scissors. It gives me the heebies 🤢

JamSandle · 11/11/2022 17:37

Wouldn't even think twice about it 😅

Bownus · 11/11/2022 17:38

Do you wash kitchen utensils before use?!

if this is a thing I have never heard of it before

Pizza cutter means also have to dirty a chopping board rather than straight to plate then cut with scissors for a truly lazy Friday tea

People cut pizza with scissors??

Nothing about it bothers me hygiene-wise but...scissors?

Pizza cutters exist for a reason!

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 11/11/2022 17:40

If your DH isn't a MNer he needs to be. He'd have an absolute ball on the competitive towel/bedding/sex organ washing threads.

How dirty is your drawer that you need to disinfect the appliances first? 🤣

Not if you use the pizza box as a plate!

(Misses point of thread)

MonkeyPuddle · 11/11/2022 17:43

I assume he autoclaves all utensils before use then?

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 11/11/2022 17:43

Yeah, can't see a problem with this

Seriously? He must be amazing in bed - NOT! 😂

Crackof · 11/11/2022 17:45

Does he clean a lot? Or just moan a lot?

BitOutOfPractice · 11/11/2022 17:46

Cutting the pizza with scissors is the future. As you say, no chopping board gets dirty. It’s a win for me.

as for the plastic packaging - he realises that’s been touching the pizza anyway doesn’t he?

@Bitterbean do you wash knives, forks and spoons that have been in a drawer before you use them? Or is it just scissors that the germs adhere to?

SellingMyDiary · 11/11/2022 17:46

I use scissors too, I don't think there's a right/wrong way to do anything but I couldn't survive life with him.

LivingChess · 11/11/2022 17:47

You are going to cook the pizza (at like 240 degrees) before you eat it aren't you?

ErrolTheDragon · 11/11/2022 17:47

Kitchen scissors are brilliant for cutting up pizza and many other things. Much easier than ferreting around in the bottom of the odds-and-sods kitchen implements drawer for a wheel.

You can cut the pizza on the plate.
People who cut pizza with scissors are disturbed.
