Come to mine for a 'cuppa'
Do you want a 'cuppa'
Have a 'cuppa'
While we have a 'cuppa'
Urgh

Probably unreasonable, but I just bloody hate it

May I also add “a brew” to the hate list?

And this one may be personal to me but “a coffee” rather than “coffee”. Can’t stand it.

ShaunaTheSheep · 08/11/2022 17:08

Can I add 'coffees and teas' please? Something about the plural does not sit right.

housemaus · 08/11/2022 17:10

YANBU, I hate 'cuppa' (but with apologies to a PP, I use 'brew' instead)!

ParentallyUnprepared · 08/11/2022 17:10

I hate to too.

ParentallyUnprepared · 08/11/2022 17:10

It too.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 08/11/2022 17:10

Can't bear simpering oh do you wanna come round for a coffee?

DorritLittle · 08/11/2022 17:13

I don't mind cuppa which is presumanly how some people say it.

I irrationally dislike the term 'jacket spud' though.

JustAWeirdoWithNoName · 08/11/2022 17:15

Aw I love "cuppa" - makes me feel really cozy

londongals · 08/11/2022 17:22

Always seems to be upper middle class female Twitter vicars who say ‘cuppa’ obvs trying ingratiate themselves with the lumpen proles aka parishioners 🙄🙏🏽☘️👍🏿🕊

APJ1 · 08/11/2022 19:11

I cringe every time I hear it, with the exception of it being about a Cuppa Soup.

IfIGoThereWillBeTrouble · 08/11/2022 19:12

Going at a slight tangent, “coffee shop”.

HairyMcLarie · 08/11/2022 19:18

'Meal'. Ugh

Schmeeeee · 08/11/2022 19:30

I hate the word cuppa and most shortened forms of words. Telly, brolly, hollibobs, prezzy. Ugh. They're awful

PinkiOcelot · 08/11/2022 19:31

It’s not as bad as brew!

kitcat15 · 08/11/2022 19:34

Doesn’t offend me….we say a brew where I am in NW

Sparklesocks · 08/11/2022 19:36

I don’t use it but I don’t care enough for it to bother me

MandyMotherOfBrian · 08/11/2022 19:36

Yes! And Ciggie. And Lippy. Urgh.

CatchYouOnTheFlippetyFlop · 08/11/2022 19:38

Don't mind cuppa or brew. Brew only for tea though.

Sorry OP. You would hate me 😂

stuntbubbles · 08/11/2022 19:38

Shall we have a cuppa after our jacket spuds with a side of cherry toms? Or maybe instead some roasties and Yorkies and veg, then a nice cuppa.

(It’s often a “nice” cuppa, as though the rest of us drink horrible tea.)

Circleoffifths · 08/11/2022 19:39

’Brew’ actually makes me grind my teeth. Someone said it twice in a meeting today 😬😬

Wineinthegarden · 08/11/2022 19:41

Agree! Something about cuppa that makes me want to bite my tongue. ‘Cuppa’ and ‘portion’ make me feel a bit odd.

MakkaPakkas · 08/11/2022 19:42

It's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick though, ey?

SomeChickensAreJustTooBig · 08/11/2022 19:43

Awful.
also detest ‘sarnie’

HotCoffee22 · 08/11/2022 19:44

YANBU I posted a similar thread a few years ago - under a different name!
