Come to mine for a 'cuppa'
Do you want a 'cuppa'
Have a 'cuppa'
While we have a 'cuppa'
Urgh

Probably unreasonable, but I just bloody hate it

OP posts:

Omg yes this is my most hated word! It's so annoying! More so when it's an FB status like "cake and cuppa with this one" 🤢🤢

Cam22 · 08/11/2022 19:47

Hate “hubby”.

ABlindAssassin · 08/11/2022 19:48

I don't mind cuppa, but don't ever say it.

I HATE the phrase 'sweet treat'. My friend owns a cafe and is always sharing Facebook posts about 'homemade sweet treats'. It fills me with irrational rage!!

barbrahunter · 08/11/2022 19:49

YADNBU OP

Squeezedsquash · 08/11/2022 19:50

Hubby is worse.

Dsisproblem · 08/11/2022 19:50

YANBU I hate cuppa. I really hate when someone says "I'd love a cuppa tea". The combination of cuppa and tea really gets me

wibblewobbleball · 08/11/2022 19:51

userxx · 08/11/2022 19:52

I'm the same with "butty". 🤮

MaryBeardsShoes · 08/11/2022 19:54

Why are these sorts of threads coming up every day at the moment? You can't control what language people use. Get over it.

Can't bear simpering oh do you wanna come round for a coffee?

How is asking someone round for a coffee simpering? Weird.

Katypp · 08/11/2022 20:02

If we can widen the discussion to non-food, I am starting to die a little inside each time I hear the word 'tumble' or 'tumbler' Aka tumble dryer. I am a member of quite a, few scrimping Facebook pages and people are very keen to share how often they haven't used their tumble.

90yomakeuproom · 08/11/2022 20:07

Keep calm and have a cuppa

MrPoppysParka · 08/11/2022 20:08

‘Brew’ makes me want to burn things.

GrandOleOpryNights · 08/11/2022 20:13

I saw someone write ‘Vicky sponge’ on a thread not long ago. I’d never heard that before but I’ll never be ok with that. 😱 ‘Cuppa‘ seems mild in comparison although I just say ‘a cup of tea’.

Rockbird · 08/11/2022 20:34

Any sentence which involves someone offering me tea is fine with me, I don't care how you say it!

Righthandcider · 08/11/2022 20:43

HairyMcLarie · 08/11/2022 19:18

'Meal'. Ugh

I thought it was just me.

Also "a bite to eat".

SalmonEile · 08/11/2022 20:47

Is now a good time to say Platty Jubes??

i hate cuppa and “sweet treats” , im not a fan of the word treat in general though I don’t know why

It's the tone I promise, although I appreciate it's difficult to convey on a chat board. Coffeeeeey. Its almost a whine.

stuntbubbles · 09/11/2022 00:40

Chocs. Somehow worse if it’s posh chocs.

Thelongnights · 09/11/2022 00:42

SomeChickensAreJustTooBig · 08/11/2022 19:43

Awful.
also detest ‘sarnie’

Can I ask where 'sarnies comes from, I know it means sandwich but how?

I'm Irish we don't use the term.

CallieQ · 09/11/2022 01:04

Or even the word "posh".

AutumnCrow · 09/11/2022 02:06

I have a mental bingo when reading any thread about Xmas present or meal ideas.

Scrummy is in there. Appalling word.

May I also add “a brew” to the hate list?

And this one may be personal to me but “a coffee” rather than “coffee”. Can’t stand it.

God, thank you! Totally agree.
