Feel embarrassed? Was I in the wrong

I normally go and get my eyebrows at the same place. I brought my kids with me. They only take cash, and the cash machine is literally two shops away, inside the mall. I have a double pram, one of my child wtrapped in, I said to the lady is it okay if I run and get the money and leave her with you. As soon as I left, her husband called me who was at the shop you needed to take your child with you, so angrily as if I'm being a bad mum, and neglecting my child for being two seconds. In hindsight maybe I am in the wrong, in my mind I have been there for years and would quickly rush and leave, rather than taking the pram out. I felt so shamed and embarrassed by the incident. Was I in the wrong, please be kind I already feel like a shit mum. I'm a single mother of two little one, and I must admit I already feel like I don't know what I'm doing.

Why have you come on to AIBU to ask this, if you’re feeling delicate, OP…?

How is this a good move?

What the hell is the problem with OP getting her eyebrows done? Whether threaded, waved, tinted or bleached what does it have to do with you? You sound miserable as fuck

DoubleBuggyDriver · 31/10/2022 01:39

@ProFannyTea show us your eyebrows

stuntbubbles · 31/10/2022 01:42

You should have left both kids, one per eyebrow.

What if she has a unibrow? 🤔

Billstopay · 31/10/2022 01:49

Plan better and have the cash up front. YABU

Shandyinthejarro · 31/10/2022 02:04

Don't worry OP. Just put it down to experience and move on. This won't be the last thing you do as a parent and regret. You live and you learn, and take these mistakes and their lessons on then chin. You obviously have enough of a relationship with the beauty therapist to trust her with your kids for 2 minutes and made a snap decision. I bet you never forge tto get cash first again 😀

I once had to refuse to let a very pregnant lady use the staff toilet in a shop I worked in because if she slipped and fell she could have sued us, I would have lost my job etc etc This made me sad, having been pregnant this year and in constant desperate need for a pee.

peanutbutterontoast7 · 31/10/2022 02:13

@Bre10 oh my goodness please be kind to yourself! This is absolutely not a big deal more liek soemoen trying to make you feel bad about yourself!
You say you normally go to this place so you obviously know the salon and the person you left the pram with. I really don't think it's a big deal.
You need to trust your own judgement and not one of those who wasn't even there!

NumberTheory · 31/10/2022 02:15

I think it’s really poor to go without the cash, knowing she only takes cash. However the way the husband spoke to you sounds like it was inappropriate. If it’s a policy he could have said so nicely. I think you should be a bit embarrassed about going without the cash, especially since it sounds like you do it regularly. I don’t think you should be embarrassed about making an arrangement with the beautician to leave your buggy for a few minutes.

It’s not up to MN whether it’s okay to leave your child or not. That’s only something you, the beautician and the salon management can decide. Though I do think it makes the rudeness of not having cash in the first place worse.

Husband shouldn’t have spoken to you the way he did and should only have stepped in at all if he has some responsibility for the salon that his wife does not, or his wife isn’t actually okay with it but is unable to tell you.

scarletisjustred · 31/10/2022 02:24

I wouldn't worry. She almost certainly requires cash because she is fiddling her income tax. People who do that should be careful not to annoy people unnecessarily. He should have held his tongue.

Cappuccino17 · 31/10/2022 02:28

It's not the worst thing in the world. But i would take my kids with me personally. In reality i reckon the man panicked as he didn't know how long you might be and might have thought you'd left him to babysit haha.
I have selected you were unreasonable but like i said it isnt the worst thing and you haven't done anything terrible. I'm sure many mums have done this. But personally i wouldn't.

Keyansier · 30/10/2022 23:08

Who would you have to leave for heroin?

What?? WTF does that mean??

a1poshpaws · 31/10/2022 03:40

Twiglets1 · 31/10/2022 02:28

Oh give over.

Jeez. There's always one.

As @Twiglets1 says- give over.

Some of us actually feel strongly about looking our best.

Confusion101 · 31/10/2022 03:44

Where was your 2nd child? You say 1 was strapped in?

I voted YABU because you knew cash only (assuming as youve been going there years) so shouldve got it out in advance, and prob shouldn't bring the kids in the first place. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing to ask but puts them in an awkward situation. You aren't a shit mother for asking

TheSilentPicnic · 31/10/2022 04:25

Fucksake what an arse that man was. Course it’s no big deal.

JennyJenny8675309 · 31/10/2022 04:37

Her husband sounds like a nasty prick.

Gingernaut · 31/10/2022 05:05

Yes. You were in the wrong.

You knew the place was cash only, but showed up without it.

BadLad · 31/10/2022 05:15

a1poshpaws · 31/10/2022 03:38

What?? WTF does that mean??

A wordplay joke, taking the meaning of "speed" to be the recreational drug, rather than haste.

Lalliella · 31/10/2022 05:56

The husband was a twat. The lady had agreed so what you did was fine.

People it was TWO shops away! It’s not a big deal!

MissMarpleRocks · 31/10/2022 06:04

I loathe cash only places. There is one eyebrow place I’ve stopped going to even though she’s so good. I was always forgetting my cash. I think it’s often a dodgy outfit when they only take cash.
