I'm sure the poster must be confusing DA with his brother Richard.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 23/10/2022 09:45

I actually thought it was a muddle up withDavid Hockney because of the DH

Gooseysgirl · 23/10/2022 09:45

Damien Hirst... thankfully I have not had the 'pleasure' but a member of my family has regular interactions with him in the art world. An absolute prick completely motivated by money, whose minions create most of the 'art work'.

LeMoo · 23/10/2022 09:46

The David Attenborough idolisation is ridiculous. I've heard similar stories about him - not many, but a couple. Just became you don't like the story and it contained a type doesn't mean it's not true - give the poster a break!

At the end of the last thread, someone mentioned Gyles Brandreth. I met him and I he was exactly the same as you see on TV, he was working at the time though so maybe he different when off duty.

David Walliams back in 2006 at a hotel in Nottingham where our team was on a residential training course.

We were in reception and I called over one of my colleagues (also called David) to go into the meeting room.

David Walliams looked up expectantly on hearing "his" name being called out and I realised David Walliams was staying at the hotel too as he was on a show tour in the city.

I'm not a morning person at the best of times but i am ashamed to say "oh no not you David Walliams I meant my co

I’m quite pleased to hear David Attenborough is a twat. It makes me feel better about not being able to stand him popping up on my telly every five minutes lecturing me about climate change, when it’s not me whose entire career is thanks to the wonders of air travel Blush

This...

PaulaTrilloe · 23/10/2022 09:54

......oops epic
post fail

"Not you David walliams, I meant my colleague David KING!"

He had a face on him like a slapped arse.

PaulaTrilloe · 23/10/2022 09:58

Tony Robinson was filming with the timewatch team on our street and he was really lovely.

Bill Oddie has a reputation for being "Mardy" but he was fantastic company at a Wildlife Trust event I attended, a thoughtful and observant man.

Following, thanks for new thread

Aussiegirl123456 · 23/10/2022 10:04

Sean Paul. He asked me if I knew who he was. I didn’t. He then told me how lucky I am to be near him. Okay.

TheyreOnlyNoodlesMichael · 23/10/2022 10:08

Paddy McGuinness. Utter slimeball. Tried desperately to convince my friend to shag him and when she told him to leave her alone he called her an ugly cunt. This is years ago I will add.

FallingLeaves111 · 23/10/2022 10:11

Megan Markle, and I have met quite a few AAA listers through work. The majority are polite or say very little.

Windbeneathmybingowings · 23/10/2022 10:12

The nicest famous person I ever met, hands down is Paul Whitehouse! Such a nice guy!

Humobean · 23/10/2022 10:13

Great name Windbeneathmybingowings 😁

PauliesWalnuts · 23/10/2022 10:15

Another one putting her hand up to say how lovely David Attenborough was - I worked on a project with him. Vicky Pendleton on the other hand was really unpleasant (not the same project).

I have read that Monty Don sometimes has to be “firm” with his admirers who constantly come up to him with gardening queries or plant IDs, which must be tiring when you’re trying to do the big shop. That’s the thing when you become a National Treasure - some people seem to think they own a piece of you.

DanceWithYourBalloon · 23/10/2022 10:19

David Attenborough is possibly the nicest and most unassuming celebrity/famous figure I've had interactions with through work. Cannot believe he's ever been anything but a perfect gentleman.

Nick Baker from the Really Wild Show was a misery guts though. He was doing a talk to kids but looked like he'd rather be elsewhere afterwards when they were asking him questions and trying to get his autograph.

I knew someone who worked at the Royal Academy, so not my story...
He told me that David Attenborough was absolutely vile.
( I know I couldn't believe it either)
Apparently the Academy does out of hours openings for their special members. On this occasion J had to open up, was thrilled to do so as he was a huge fan of DH.
Whilst unlocking the areas he turned to David H and mentioned he thought the last episode of xxx was the best TV he had ever seen. DH stood there and stared at him before saying coldly.. " I don't think someone like you should be talking to someone like me"
J was mortified.
On another occasion DH threw his coat at J and told him to take care of it.
He didn't left the coat on the floor and walked away.
Has never watched anything he's made since. Apparently his partner looked embarrassed both times.

How long ago was this? David Attenborough's partner died in 1997.

Elderemo · 23/10/2022 10:31

Derek Acorah.

Came in for lunch when he was touring. Seemed pissed off that nobody cared who he was. He treated the staff appallingly.

LeMoo · 23/10/2022 10:39

@LaGioconda he probably had another partner, don't have to disclose everything to the press

Charlize43 · 23/10/2022 10:46

A friend of my goes to the same gym in Chelsea as Louise Thompson (a reality TV Z lister from years ago; Made in Chelsea) and is always going on about how she turns up absolutely plastered in make-up to work out and is always looking around to see if anyone is looking at her. She's really tiny in real life.

It seems odd to go to the gym where one sweats wearing a full face of make-up. She also says that she always has a 'Don't you know who I am?' look on her face and seems rather ridiculous. She said that she speaks in 'very posh comedy accent that sounds like something from a Harry Enfield sketch' so it's impossible to ignore her.

So glad to hear this about Tony Robinson. I always thought he was lovely. I remember watching a documentary and it showed him visiting his mother in a retirement home and how he went every week, no matter his schedule.

I don't think she deserves to be on a list of unpleasant celebrities because she has the audacity to wear make up and speak. She's also had a horrific year or so with a chronic health condition and anxiety and probably could do without this kind of negativity.

Toseland · 23/10/2022 11:29

I've met Richard Attenborough, he was rather pink-cheeked and jolly and very polite. He seemed a decent person - he'd come to find me to thank me personally for my work even though I was not in a high position and he had no need to do that.

David Attenborough is LOVELY really lovely. My Daughter wrote to him a one-way letter about his programme. She got a handwritten beautiful personalised letter back to her and her brother within 4 days................totally unexpected and delightful.
My friend did a cartoon of him in the NH museum and sent it to him and likewise.
Have also met DH in person and he was lovely and gave his water to someone else. His WIFE not his partner died a long time ago -25/30 years.

My son received a hand written letter back from him too! It was so lovely, it's framed on his bedroom wall now. He even wrote the envelope himself and I don't know why but that really impressed me 😘

freesolo · 23/10/2022 11:36

Sorry about the 😘, not sure where that came from!
