Simon Pegg is a dick. Rude and acted like he was above everyone else. I was so disappointed as I love Spaced.

Sadly have heard the same

Was a massive fan of spaced.
(On the plus side mark heap is delightful and charming and just as funny in real life)

MsJuniper · 23/10/2022 15:58

Ken Dodd was awful, very slobbery.

Sodullincomparison · 23/10/2022 16:08

Justin Fletcher ( Mr Tumble) was horrible both times I’ve met him.

DH had a different experience with Simon Pegg- said he was really affable and they chatted about BBQs.

Worse person I’ve worked with is Tony Blair- really dismissive of anybody he doesn’t think has decision making control and all about the money!

I used to work at the BBC in Bristol where the Natural History Unit is based. David Attenborough is not a twat, he is a very polite person and I've never heard a bad word said about him, which is unusual for a TV presenter and even more so for someone who was a senior manager at the BBC.

I'm so glad to hear this after the nasty report about him up thread.

I don't think she deserves to be on a list of unpleasant celebrities because she has the audacity to wear make up and speak. She's also had a horrific year or so with a chronic health condition and anxiety and probably could do without this kind of negativity.

Ohhhhh get a grip 😂

ThisIsNotThePostYourLookingFor · 23/10/2022 16:27

This might be in bad taste but Robbie Coltrane🙄 I once stood behind him in a sports shop where he asked the shop assistant ‘ do you know who I am?!’ Because they didn’t have a particular item in stock. This was pre-2010 and never forgot it. He really disappointed me because I loved him as an actor.

Lowering the tone a bit, worst person I’ve met is Mr Tumble. Totally ignored my daughter who has Down Syndrome who ran up to him, he was filming in a Special Needs School.

He came to my DS's SEN school: DS's teacher said he was an absolute twat.

Stuart Hall. Honestly the most ignorant, arrogant, loathsome piece of shit. But could turn some charm on if he thought you were useful. I wasn’t surprised about Yewree at all, but think it was all about arrogance and control.

I wondered if his name would crop up. Back in the 70s my dad did a couple of TV appearances connected to his job, and Stuart Hall apparently acted towards my dad like they were best mates, but from the sounds of things he was a slimebucket. My dad couldn't stand him.

It's very hard to know how to judge some of these without context.

A celebrity could look a bit sour if they've been approached for the 10th time during a family meal out for a selfie. Or if they're being asked for their autograph while trying to pay for and pack their shopping or are talking on their phone.

Obviously no excuse for telling anyone to fuck off or for behaving miserably during a paid for public appearance. But I'm sure there's just as many rude fans as rude celebrities.

Years ago DH's colleague B met a famous singer on holiday: B told my DH the singer was dull and rude. B's wife told me that she had been mortified the whole holiday, as her DH tried to hang out with the singer and his group. Wouldn't leave them alone, despite them clearly wanting him to go away. She said the singer was polite and likeable.

Lord Louis Mountbatten pushed in front of my mum in a village shop queue. She told him off.

Badbadbunny · 23/10/2022 16:47

Jane McDonald (cruising). Apparently used to be warm and friendly but turned into an obnoxious diva once she became famous.

Pamlar · 23/10/2022 16:52

Dermot O'leary very friendly, chatty and polite esp as I was the office junior at the time and totally ignored by the rest of the team.

Nikii83 · 23/10/2022 16:54

Nicest Celebs I have met, lee evans, Stephen mulhern, diversity.

my sister also tripped at the tv BAFTAs and ant from ant and dec caught her. She said he was so nice as she apologised for almost taking him out. (She was a professional seat filler)

worst was probably when my girls tried to say hello to Justin fletcher after the panto in reading… ignored everyone

CambsAlways · 23/10/2022 16:55

I’ve heard holly Willoughby is not as nice as she comes across on the tele, wouldn’t know as I’ve never personally met her, or her side kick PS

Rowan Atkinson... I met him at the stage door after seeing him play Fagin in Oliver. He was very unfriendly. I've heard similar stories from other people. There was an arrogance about him.

On the flip side, Graham Norton is one of the nicest I've met. He was very friendly and unassuming.

I had a totally different experience of Rowan - he was in my taxi a few years ago, was a funny character and brought me a sandwich lol

LaMigraine · 23/10/2022 17:01

Haha, love everyone saying that it just isn't possible David Attenborough could be rude, as though he's some kind of latter-day saint! I worked in a bookshop many years ago and he came to buy some books and was very grumpy indeed. I expect he was having an off day, as we all do, not that he is a terrible person. I don't believe that any more than I believe that he's never rude and always perfect 😆

Mine is Kate Middleton, the new Princess of Wales. Met her through work, mind you, I meet quite a few AAA listers.

Oh no! That's disappointing. Why was she so bad?

ExtraOnions · 23/10/2022 09:31

Sarah Pascoe …. What an arsehole. Rude Rude Rude, and about as funny as foot rot. Met her at a mural friends party.

glad to have it confirmed
(what is it with the pious ones? Always unpleasant)

MaChienEstUnDick · 23/10/2022 17:06

Nicolas Witchell is rude and sexist and very much cut from the 'do you know who I am?' cloth.

Natasha Kaplinsky is icily polite but takes herself very seriously.

Diane Louise Jordan (ex off Blue Peter) and Dick and Dom are total poppets though.

IsThePopeCatholic · 23/10/2022 17:07

Paul Weller. My niece did his hair a few times (he has his hair done every week). He’s as mean as hell with his tips.

Anjo2011 · 23/10/2022 17:08

Michael Crawford. Rude and arrogant.

Dwayneswain · 23/10/2022 17:09

Had a meet and greet with the band members from ZZ Top after their gig.

They kept everyone waiting for nearly an hour after the scheduled time, didn’t make eye contact with anyone, just signed our tickets and wouldn’t engage in conversation or anything at all. There were fans from all over the world there who had travelled thousands of miles and you could they were utterly devastated by their rudeness.

Surely Paul Weller hasn't had his hair done since 1983??

Lord Louis Mountbatten pushed in front of my mum in a village shop queue. She told him off.

Many years ago when Savile was infesting Stoke Mandeville regularly, my then MiL was in there with a broken back, and he walked into her ward smoking a cigar. (Yes, it was a while ago!) She called him "young man" and told him to put that thing out because another patient in the ward had breathing difficulties.

He did as he was bloody well told, and never went near her again! She was one scary lady.

Dermot O'leary very friendly, chatty and polite esp as I was the office junior at the time and totally ignored by the rest of the team.

Someone I used to be friends with was at an event with a friend who'd broken their leg. Dermot was there, and broken leg woman was a big fan. She hobbled over on crutches to ask for his autograph and apparently he just blanked her, got up and walked away.
