I don't know the word but the power of certain minds? Is it real?

3 years ago I had a week's horrible unexpected hospital stay. I swelled up so much I took my engagement ring off (not my wedding ring).

When I came home I put it somewhere "safe" as I was still bloated and since then I haven't found it. I'm almost certain it was in the kitchen but to this day I haven't found it.

It's a beautiful ring, not massively expensive (cost £375 18 years ago). It was designed based on Monica's ring from Friends but opposite settings - emerald cut sapphire, with a small diamond either side on a white gold plain band.

Can anyone help me find it please? 🙈 I'm not spiritual but willing to try this ridiculous plea to being my lovely eing back to me.

I agree with floral china cup or pot, but in the bathroom, maybe downstairs W/C?

This one has freaked me out a bit because I'm pretty sure this is what happened. I'm sure it was in the kitchen in the top cupboard and I thought it could easily get knocked into the bin and I moved it. But I can't for the life of me think where and can't quite remember this scenario happening but do think this for some reason...

Oh don't be freaked out, I'm the least 'woo' person ever but I do think people's brains generally work in similar ways and that we are more predictable than we like to think! So I tried to imagine what I would likely have done in the same situation, from your description, and it just felt obvious to me somehow that the ring had been moved from the kitchen. Probably when you were a bit distracted and not giving it your full attention, something in your subconscious went 'hmm I'd better move this' and you did it without fully absorbing what you were doing.

Try putting on some music or a podcast or something and kinda mooch around the house 'looking' without really giving it your full attention, just see where your subconscious takes you. You might be surprised!

I found a ring in the back pocket of a handbag (ie a pocket on the back, not inside)

3isthemagicnumber3 · 12/10/2022 12:01

I am guessing wine rack or near some wine, no idea why!

There is no such thing as “the power of certain minds”.

People can offer helpful suggestions though.

You might try that yourself.

PassThePringles · 12/10/2022 12:10

Check your underwear drawer or partners underwear drawer! When I took off my wedding ring and mindlessly put it in a 'safe place', I'd forgot all about it as soon as I did it and was convinced I'd accidentally binned it. Luckily bought some new drawers a year or two later and happened to come across it 😅

bloodyhell19 · 12/10/2022 12:11

If you moved from kitchen...

Do you have a cupboard in your dining or living room? Somewhere with ornaments that no one really pays attention to so you know it wouldn't have been disturbed?

I feel for you OP. I lost my grandmother's engagement ring a few years ago. I was devastated, I swore blind I had put it in our safe with my wedding jewelry and I emptied and checked so many times and didn't find it. Out of desperation, my sister asked a medium friend of hers who described our loft area with the safe perfectly and said "it's in metal but it fell she needs to look again." I said well I'm sorry cause she's off, it's not there, I've checked.

Fast forward a few months later and we're moving house (and countries!) and I stood in my hallway and said "St Anthony, now is your time to shine, find that ring because I can't leave without it".

I went back up to the bedroom, opened the crawl space in the loft, went back into the safe and then put my hand around the inner rim I hadn't felt or seen before. The ring was there, standing up, locked between the inner rims of the safe. I don't think I've ever cried with such relief before!

Try St Anthony, he's usually pretty bang on.

TheHappyTortoise · 12/10/2022 12:19

I agree with going back to the first place you looked. DS2 looked in his wallet for his bank card, not there, searched the whole house, just about to call the bank when I suggested one last look in his wallet, and there it was.

My dad couldn't find mum's wedding ring after she died, he searched everywhere, Eventually he found it in her glasses case in the drawer under the phone. I often use my glasses case to keep things safe when we're on holiday.

Another fan of St Anthony here. DS1 was packing up his flat into the van and managed to pack his keys somewhere in the van. It had been a long horrible day for them, so when they realised and they rang to tell me, I did a proper prayer to St Anthony and I got a call back 2 minutes later to say the keys had appeared!

DH and I both "lost" our wedding rings in the last six months. We looked EVERYWHERE with no luck. I found both by sheer chance.

His rolled out of the cupboard where we keep tins.

Mine was found in the linencupbord, must have slid off as I was putting clean sheets away. When that sheet set rode to the top of the pile, there was the ring.

Under the cutlery.

JudgeJ · 12/10/2022 12:22

Stop looking for it then it'll turn up like magic!

Quietmouse · 12/10/2022 12:24

What about the toilet bag you used in hospital - did you tuck it in there?

NotJustAnybody · 12/10/2022 12:29

I lost my passport months ago, even posted on here for suggestions. I had a sense/feeling it was in the house.
I eventually found it in an old bag I'd used the last time I went on holiday. Sounds obvious I know but this bag just isn't the type you'd think of as a holiday bag and it wasn't in any holiday photos (must have used it on the plane).

I'd think about the clothing you were wearing around that time - dressing gown pocket, comfy clothing?

mamabear715 · 12/10/2022 12:32

With cleaning products.
But I've asked spirit for help before, & been guided to the right place!

Blackberrybunnet · 12/10/2022 12:36

St Anthony

Vegetablesupreme · 12/10/2022 12:38

Have you got a jar or pot with Emery board, nail scissors, handcream etc? It could be in there

LittleBear21 · 12/10/2022 12:39

St Anthony Prayer

LetMeSpeak · 12/10/2022 12:46

What a load of absolutely gobwash.

ThatCheeseIsMine · 12/10/2022 12:52

What the St Anthony stuff?

I don't think it is, even if you don't believe in saints/supernatural help, it probably works in a similar way to the other methods. You take on board that St Anthony will help you find lost things and that idea probably helps to unlock your actual subconscious knowledge of where it is or is likely to be.

Also, it's nice to think of him helping you (I say that as a total atheist!) and that improves your positivity and frame of mind.

chocorabbit · 12/10/2022 12:59

Did you put it in a kitchen or bedroom drawer? Remove all drawers and check underneath.

TheWolves · 12/10/2022 13:07

Put another ring on and see where it occurs to you to put it.

It'll be in a 'safe place'.

heathspeedwell · 12/10/2022 13:07

When I lost my engagement ring it was in the bathroom cabinet. Good luck with your hunting, hope it turns up soon.

millymog11 · 12/10/2022 13:14

have you contacted the hospital (are you sure you did bring it home?) have you looked through all the luggage bags you used for your hospital stay? Have you checked your washing machine (if you put it in a pocket?) coat pocket of the coat you were wearing?

Failing that, get/borrow a metal detector?

SanFairyAnnie · 12/10/2022 13:19

Do you use those scented drawer liners? If so lift them out to check. I use one of those retractable metal tape measures to rake under the fridge for lost small items.
