I don't know the word but the power of certain minds? Is it real?

3 years ago I had a week's horrible unexpected hospital stay. I swelled up so much I took my engagement ring off (not my wedding ring).

When I came home I put it somewhere "safe" as I was still bloated and since then I haven't found it. I'm almost certain it was in the kitchen but to this day I haven't found it.

It's a beautiful ring, not massively expensive (cost £375 18 years ago). It was designed based on Monica's ring from Friends but opposite settings - emerald cut sapphire, with a small diamond either side on a white gold plain band.

Can anyone help me find it please? 🙈 I'm not spiritual but willing to try this ridiculous plea to being my lovely eing back to me.

Fingers crossed.
I mislaid my engagement ring when newly engaged. Fairly distraught.
It turned up at the vanity unit / sink in my bedroom. The most obvious place in the world and I had, of course, looked there. Numerous times.
Miraculously appeared.
Years later I can't explain it.
Someone somewhere was looking out for me.

Any luck @DNo ?

None so far but I am making a more concerted effort to look for it in more obscure places. I've asked St Anthony to find it a few times now too and I promise if/when it turns up at a later date to update this, however long it takes! 😂

I've just found a hat that I lost months ago. At a checkout this afternoon, I suddenly saw it in the bottom of the supermarket trolley!

After a brief moment of thinking, “What magic is this?” I realised it must have been in the bottom of my shopping bag all this time, and just fallen out.

Needless to say, I had bought a new one to replace it just a couple of weeks ago.

The prayer I was taught is "St Anthony find, St Anthony seek my __"
But you must put money in the St Anthony box ( charity box ) in a church or give to charity to thank him when the lost item shows up.

The St Anthony thing is fascinating! I almost feel like losing something so I can give it a try!
Out of curiosity, does a general prayer to him work? Or does there have to be specific wording to the request?

What we say is "Antony Antony come around somethings lost that can't be found" honestly hasnt let me down yet

And I thought he was the patron saint of travel, but I must be wrong (though it would kind of make sense for runaway items!).

St Christopher is the patron saint of travel.
St Ryan is the saint for cheap air travel (St. Anthony also deals with lost luggage) whilst St. Thomas is the saint for steam railways.)

I have a trick for finding things. It never fails.
Go to the place where you just KNOW it is e.g. the drawer you keep on opening even though you've checked it 20 times already. Now imagine a 1 meter sphere around that place. Methodically look in every inch of that sphere. It will be there.

Sorry! You basically get something sharp (eg a badge, pin, needle etc) and stick it into a cushion whilst saying 'I pin the devil to find *' 3 times.

No idea where it comes from, my mum used to swear by it, I thought it was nonsense until I tried it once to find something I had been searching for for hours, walked upstairs 2 mins later and there it was right in front of me 🙀

How does this work if you only have one cushion and that's the thing you are trying to find?

Or worse - you only have inflatable cushions? (e.g. the whole family suffer from piles).

But I'll give it a try, although I do worry a bit that this is the slippery slope to making a pact with the Devil. 😱

I had never heard of that saying either but maybe like a magpie likes shiny things, the devil has absconded with the OP's ring.
This is what I found when I searched for "Pin the Devil":

Even with the link I’m still unsure 😂

This is sooooo strange, but after reading this thread I was talking to my 11yo DD about the St Anthony thing. She has lost her mobile phone and despite an extensive search, we’ve not been able to find it. I told her how to ask St Anthony to look for it and she did it yesterday. I have also lost a (v.expensive!!) necklace and earrings and have also searched high and low to no avail… until I found them in a cosmetic bag under the sink in my bathroom today!!!!!! They have honestly been lost for so many months that I had given up looking and thought I’d never see them again! I’m not religious or a believer of woo, but what a coincidence!! The mobile is still lost unfortunately, but I have asked him for help this time, in the hope that it works for her, because her request worked for me. Worth a try I guess?!

Have you had all the things out that can be pulled out, ie washing machine, fridge etc pulled fully out? Not relevant if it’s all fitted it but worth a try if they are moveable.

Haha! You say that but several years ago I lost a metal badge (Girlguiding one - I'm a leader). Convinced it must have fallen off at an event I'd gone to that day but it was never found. 3 years later our built-in dishwasher started leaking. I pulled off the kickboards to dry underneath and there was my badge. How did it fall off my top onto a stone floor and fit through a tiny hole at the top of the kickboard without me noticing?

Weird!

Just remembered a hopeful/amusing Lost Ring story - a friend was cooking and took her engagement ring off in the kitchen and then it was just gone. Eventually, she got a replacement.

Two years later, and by then married, she opened a cookery book from her kitchen bookshelf and there it was, acting as a bumpy bookmark at the last recipe in that book she'd cooked, two years previously!

I think it's very important to continue to search, OP, at the same time you're petitioning the Little Folk or St Anthony to bring it back. The Little People reward assiduous searching, I feel sure. Wink There's a thing called Regression to the Mean, but dammit, I too am lacking my engagement ring and I think I'll ask the Little Folk to help me tomorrow.

In my case, I feel very uneasy about it. I don't normally wear it and it's usually buried in a very hard-to-find place, in case of burglary. It's an antique diamond solitaire and one of the claws seemed slightly wonky so I was always concerned it might let the stone out, and I do lots of work with my hands so used to be forever taking it on and off. When I had my babies I stopped wearing it and hid it away, and that was 14 years ago!

But for some reason I got it out a few months ago, admired it and determined to wear it more often. I wore it, remembered about the awry claw and popped it on a ring tree to take to a local jewellers later. Then I forgot to. A few weeks later it wasn't there. But because I seldom wear it, I don't know when it vanished. In that time we had a guy in to service an issue with the boiler/tank and I think he did need to be in the bedroom at one point. Confused And also a friend of DS's who used to help himself to DS's lego. I'm almost certain he's not capable of lifting something like that, but he's a bit of an unknown quantity morally. But I have absolutely NO reason to assume it was either DS's mate or the plumber and feel horrible even thinking it. But I've looked and looked. It's not in any of the safe hidey places I'd use for jewellery. It's not down the back of the chest of drawers. We do have an extremely messy house and the bedroom's worst of all, so I'm not discounting that it's in some dusty corner, but what I can't imagine is HOW it levitated off the ring holder and onto the floor/wherever.

I think I'd prefer to believe that the elves took it than the plumber, so I think I'm going to ask them to return it tomorrow. Grin

My great-aunt hid a ring for fear of burglars before going on holiday and never found it again. Years later when clearing her house I found it in a disused teapot in a cupboard full of disused teapots.

They do say you'll often find something if you look for something else, or buy a replacement. I really don't know if this is superstition or psychology, but I lost something several years ago, finally bought a replacement a few weeks ago – and then found the lost thing the same day, while looking for something else.

A family member lost a very precious ring belonging to a deceased member of their family. A few years later, inexplicably, there it was just in the middle of their stairs to their upper floor.
