Can this be true?

I don't know the word but the power of certain minds? Is it real?

3 years ago I had a week's horrible unexpected hospital stay. I swelled up so much I took my engagement ring off (not my wedding ring).

When I came home I put it somewhere "safe" as I was still bloated and since then I haven't found it. I'm almost certain it was in the kitchen but to this day I haven't found it.

It's a beautiful ring, not massively expensive (cost £375 18 years ago). It was designed based on Monica's ring from Friends but opposite settings - emerald cut sapphire, with a small diamond either side on a white gold plain band.

Can anyone help me find it please? 🙈 I'm not spiritual but willing to try this ridiculous plea to being my lovely eing back to me.

Underneath the cutlery tray thingy.

Drawer in the livingroom

Try using a dowsing pendulum. How these work is through ideomotor phenomenon, i.e. your subconscious controls the movement. Theoretically, your subconscious knows where you left the ring. It might work.

Can what be true? You haven't any actual question.

CallTheMobWife · 12/10/2022 10:03

haven't asked

My mum lost her wedding for about 3 years. She found them in a pocket of some trousers that she only wore in winter when it was really cold

Mistlewoeandwhine · 12/10/2022 10:08

Corner of the kitchen windowsill

Mistlewoeandwhine · 12/10/2022 10:09

Ask out loud to the spirit of the house for it to be returned.

NewNameNeededNow · 12/10/2022 10:10

DGM lost a ring for a few years.
When it got cold she took a chunky cardigan out of the wardrobe for the first time in years, put it on and put her hand in the pocket and there was the ring!

FirewomanSam · 12/10/2022 10:11

You did put it in the kitchen but then you retrieved it soon after and put it somewhere else. Somewhere in your bedroom. Maybe an old jewellery box?

milveycrohn · 12/10/2022 10:15

I recently found a wedding ring in a small box of keys. (not mine).
My advice would be to take each room in turn.
ie in the bedroom, go through all your clothes drawers, etc. (a good way of sorting out old clothes). I recently found a small bracelet this way, just when I wasn't looking for it. If you have already looked in the most obvious places, then next is the unobvious places.

FruitPastilleNut · 12/10/2022 10:16

Do you (like me) have a row of sad unused mugs at the back of a shelf? I have some I'm sure haven't seen the light of day for a year at least. Could you have dropped it into one?

AlmostThereMaybe · 12/10/2022 10:19

Is it on a sill/shelf, hidden under/behind something (like a plant pot saucer, small plate/bowl)? Or did you hang it somewhere (like on a key hook)? If you're like me, it'll turn up somewhere you're sure you've looked several times already!

PorkPieForStarters · 12/10/2022 10:21

I hope you find it - I do this frequently. It's always an obvious place at the time!

If I'm putting something somewhere safe/out of sight, my new tactic is to send myself a note at the point I put it there, so I can check the note later if i forget. Eg. ring in black trainers by front door.

BlueKaftan · 12/10/2022 10:25

Picture it in your mind, very intensely. Spend all day thinking about it and putting it out to the Universe that you want it back. Then forget about it and go to bed. This will hopefully stimulate your subconscious into finding it.

theDudesmummy · 12/10/2022 10:28

I also never found a piece of jewellery after a hospital stay. I was having an operation on my neck and had to take off a necklace, not very valuable but quite precious to me as DH had given it to me. I swear I put it in my purse but never found it again, searched purse, bag, pockets, everything. Big mystery to this day. (Possible someone stole it while I waws in theatre I suppose).

Feel around the hemline of your coats and jackets. If there’s a hole in the pocket lining, it could have fallen through

This is a good suggestion. When my husband lived with housemates a few years ago he lost his front door key. He looked everywhere but couldn't find it so had a new one made. He then met me and told me the story of the lost key a few months later. I suggested maybe he had a hole in his jacket pocket. Turns out I was right and the key had been inside the lining the whole time.

Robe pockets?

This one!

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 12/10/2022 10:31

It is apparent to me that if you stamp around the house, slamming cupboards and drawers shouting "Why are my f **king keys" (or another specific item) somebody else usually points out where they are.

As a thank you to St Anthony or whoever, the response is "Well, who the f **k put them there?"

Dixiechickonhols · 12/10/2022 10:32

Wash bag compartment or lining?

EvilRingahBitch · 12/10/2022 10:32

The Rory Stewart Method states that it is in the first place you looked. You looked quickly, didn't see it, panicked, and moved on. If you go back to the most obvious place you thought it was and look properly then you will find it.

Mind you, Rory Stewart still hasn't found his own wedding ring despite the whole of Twitter trying to help him.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 12/10/2022 10:33

Can you retrace your steps of the last time you had it?

RosesAndDahlias · 12/10/2022 10:33

I think you may have taken it off in the kitchen, but it then got moved to the bedroom (by you or someone else, being helpful).
It could have been put beside the bed. Then when you reached for something in the night, or when you changed the sheets/duvet cover, it got flicked off and onto the floor…..
So it could be under the bed, or behind the bedside table. Wedged right in between the carpet and the skirting board?
Good luck!
(Oh, and I’ve taken to sending myself notes via my phone too, or taking a quick pic of where I’ve put something).

Worthyornot · 12/10/2022 10:34

Ah I really hope that you find it op. It is probably somewhere in your house. Seems like it has alot of sentimental value to you.
