For those following this existing thread: www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4635864-tradesperson-inviting-people-into-my-home?page=1 aka the tale of the fluffy blanket and the dodgy electrics thread, it continues here.

Nothing new to add at the moment though, but the previous thread is almost at capacity.

Thank you @IvyPlant for updating all the way through to the end (often despite some extreme provocation). I didn't want to post earlier as the last thread filled up with people essentially saying nothing other than "place-marking!" You are the stuff of MN legend and I admire your wisdom.

Every good wish for the future in your newly-wired house (and debauchery-free (though obviously not your own, personal, debauchery)! x

MRSRUDEBOX · 24/09/2022 18:48

Thanks for this thread. Love your humour. Great outcome, handled well.

Flowerpower2022 · 24/09/2022 18:54

OP I really enjoyed this thread. I love your no nonsense, human and humorous approach to a massively CF series of incidents. Man booker prize maybe not but very well written and entertaining. I could learn a lot from your assertiveness.

I still have an unanswered question for @IvyPlant
In one of your updates earlier, you said he helped himself to food from your kitchen. Did you not mention that in your chat with him?

almostfamousme · 24/09/2022 20:04

Nicely done, @IvyPlant, in every way.

The ending was even worse than the final of game of thrones😆

😂😂😂

debwong · 24/09/2022 20:10

There is a lesson here. Next time you hire a tradesman, don't choose Jacko from Brush Strokes

I haven't, but here you go amzn.eu/d/4KQAuCf

I did buy another one but wouldn't rate it unfortunately so not linking the other one.

Please write this whole saga as your Amazon review, or even just something along the lines “perfect for catching your tradesman on the job whilst on the job!”

No, in the end I decided to go with the univited visitor as my point of contention because if he hadn't invited her over, I would never have known about the food. I picked my battle.

What did he wrote as the discount reason?

IncompleteSenten · 24/09/2022 22:27

Write

LittleSid · 24/09/2022 23:26

@IvyPlant, and all the other beautiful people - trolls inc. - thank you. This has been the best novel post I've ever read. It's been such a shitty time for you OP, handled immaculately btw. I absolutely love you all, you've made my week, all of you. OP, I wish I knew you irl. Failing that, let us know when your book is published, I'm looking forward to it! 💜

rhianfitz · 25/09/2022 09:37

That was so amazing thank you, 100% for classics @mumset

Nameless3 · 25/09/2022 09:50

If this thread is what passes for a classic niw then MN has well and truely had its day.

TheodoreMortlock · 25/09/2022 10:06

I think it was either Viz or Private Eye which printed in its very first issue "not as funny as it used to be" to pre-empt the moaning bores of future years. Perhaps MN Classics should have done the same.

@IncompleteSenten

see OP post 7:53 yesterday. Click on the photo. (I think that was the time, around then anyway)

Thanks.

It's a good one, I'll give 'em that.

Couldn't agree more. The true classics usually start with a completely self- unaware OP and are not so utterly 'polished'.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/09/2022 13:20

What did he eat @IvyPlant

esp as he was seen buying own food /gf bringing lunch

as I said previously I wouldn’t begrudge a workman making a cuppa etx but also a Sarnie if hungry wouidnt bother me

Abaiia · 25/09/2022 13:28

Well done for waiting until he'd finished the job to get it resolved OP. You are a lot calmer than I would have been. Hats off to you 👌

HopScotchBump · 26/09/2022 11:09

Well done OP, and thank you for updating! :)😁
