For those following this existing thread: www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4635864-tradesperson-inviting-people-into-my-home?page=1 aka the tale of the fluffy blanket and the dodgy electrics thread, it continues here.

Nothing new to add at the moment though, but the previous thread is almost at capacity.

Thank you @IvyPlant 👏🏻

DobbyTheHouseElk · 24/09/2022 07:39

Missed the photo. What did we see?

Plus ... is there a glitch in that mumsnet posts things twice on this thread as it's just happened to me too (tears in the fabric of the Trumann sky or something)

It's saying not posted when it has, so people resend . This often happens so I always check before retrying now. Most of the time your first attempt is there even though its said it was unsuccessful

liveforsummer · 24/09/2022 07:42

Like this but as you can see my post was indeed there (I pressed cancel rather than retry)

Thank you @IvyPlant 👏🏻

I was with you all the way through OP, despite the 3yo "baby", and the bit where he didn't come back to your house for s

IvyPlant · 24/09/2022 07:53

Just took a look at the updated invoice he sent through yesterday and absolutely dying at the description regarding the deduction 🤣🤣🤣 also, my bad, his day rate was £432, not £425

Nice blanket and watch

I also thought she had an engagement ring but not sure if it’s part of the blanket

if I ever see a clock like that i will be on my best behaviour 😂

outoctober · 24/09/2022 07:57

@ liveforsummer yes, that came up for me too

Serenitymummy · 24/09/2022 07:58

OP you are a legend, I'd love to be friends with you in real life. Your sarcasm is just on my level but my god I aspire to write as well as you do. I've been feeling crap all week and this has seriously kept me going. Have a fantastic weekend.

IvyPlant · 24/09/2022 07:58

I'm not sure why people are so fixated on the age of my son. He was 2 when this thread started and 3 by the time it concluded 🤷‍♀️ I know someone was apparently shocked I had a camera in my son's room and the only acceptable reason was because he was a baby.

When is it acceptable age to get rid of the baby camera monitor? It's not like he's 28. My garden is pretty big, I do have the camera on when I'm out in the garden hanging out the washing out because I like the reassurance of seeing him in case anything happens. Sorry that's unpalatable for some people 🤣 #NotSorry

£54 per hour

can only dream at that

Serenitymummy · 24/09/2022 08:01

I also love the invoice wording! It always astounds me how posting on here makes people think they can tell you why all of your life choices are wrong. Mind blowing.

outoctober · 24/09/2022 08:02

But where has the pic of them kissing gone? Did you delete it, OP?

Loving his creative rewriting of the misdemeanour. Are you sure he wasn't on your Eng Lit course 😂

My DC is nearly 7, still have a camera. But we have a big house and I basically use it as a "baby" monitor. I'm not spying on them.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/09/2022 08:06

3 is nothing @IvyPlant

you have another 2yrs at least 😂🥲

mini blondes is 5 and we still have one

she likes /wants it still and will call out good night and I woke up to morning mummy at 730am this morning 💕

it’s for also when we are downstairs at night. If she woke crying /nightmare as otherwise of
hOuse we may not hear her

i would hate to think of her sobbing upstairs 🥲

not sure when will stop. Obv won’t have it at 11/12 but while she is happy for it so are we

there was a baby monitor thread somewhere and many said mad even bordering on privacy issues

but it’s only on her bed and while she wants /happy with it we shall use

keeptheaspidistra · 24/09/2022 08:12

I am entitled to a lunch break but I've never had any employment that allows me to bring a "friend" on site for it! What a rubbish excuse

Pinkfluff76 · 24/09/2022 08:34

Thanks OP for a truly entertaining, intriguing and enjoyable thread! I was longingly checking for updates each day (I’m not as sad as that sounds!) I’m glad it all worked out in the end, well done to you! and happy birthday to your 3 year old. I know this is off topic but holy fuck £432 per day! I should be an electrician!! Most people work on average 20 days per month which is a whopping £8640 per month!! I don’t think this guy is going to be stressing about increases in the cost of living! And actually tradespeople often add in a few Saturdays and Sundays in too, he’s making a killing!! Do you live in Mayfair?? I thought electricians were about £250 per day. Since he’s not honest maybe he just upped his rate according to your post code!!

PurpleWisteria · 24/09/2022 08:35

I do wish MNHQ would just ban troll hunters. They are far more annoying than trolls with their smugness.

PinkPanther50 · 24/09/2022 08:35

OK I was a believer until the invoice. No tradesman is going to write that - they would just put something like discount as agreed. But great entertainment OP, exactly what MN needs. Well written 😃

I requested it was taken down because I didn't want the photo on this thread forever. I posted it for a short time to show I was genuine. The photo showed both of them in my kitchen kissing, with their faces coloured out.

It will have be screen shot and put on other sites that talk about mumsnet.

@Blondeshavemorefun

Not sure if you're still doing your old job now you have your own DC (beyond thrilled for you still & smile every time I see you post!!) but if you look on Amazon there are loads of different things with cams in them.

I now treat every room, in every house I'm in , as if it has a camera. It's a horrible feeling, especially when staying over

PasnipPasta · 24/09/2022 09:27

Sorry you had this experience but its been bloody entertaining to read
