For those following this existing thread: www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4635864-tradesperson-inviting-people-into-my-home?page=1 aka the tale of the fluffy blanket and the dodgy electrics thread, it continues here.

Nothing new to add at the moment though, but the previous thread is almost at capacity.

Very satisfying conclusion Op, thanks for updating us, so many posters don't bother. I'm glad you got your keys back an most importantly the precious certificate of works.

This was my favourite bit:

"Me (Taking out the next photo): 'So why do I have this photo of you kissing this woman in my kitchen up against my worktop?'
^^
Him: 'Er, um - it was just whilst I was waiting for the kettle to boil.'

I mean we all have a passionate snog when we are waiting for the kettle to boil, don't we? 😂

BattyOrange · 24/09/2022 01:24

And threads like this is why I love Mumsnet.

Vecna · 24/09/2022 01:48

Sorry, I do find it suspicious. It's the unsociable hours they were sent that bothers me.

Oh ffs. I always wonder how people respond to the wrong thread. Having done it, I still don't know how it happens 😳

TheLadyofShalott1 · 24/09/2022 02:46

Thank you @IvyPlant, thank you xx

Him: 'Er, um - it was just whilst I was waiting for the kettle to boil.'

This has been one of the most beautifully crafted posts I have read, the conversation and plot exquisite in the various twists and turns. I'm just curious about how long it takes for a kettle to boil... 😂

I think you have been more than fair. You achieved a reduction in your bill (you shouldn't have had to ask for it, but you got it), and you were understanding about his marital problems and allowing him a way out on that basis.

I wonder whether you have considered writing a TV series? How about "Off Duty" as a working title?

AiryFairyLights · 24/09/2022 03:10

I’ve just spent the best hour reading this and your previous thread from start to finish 😂 Brilliant @IvyPlant 😂

Zonder · 24/09/2022 03:37

Well handled OP!

NeapolitanDreams · 24/09/2022 03:49

Thank you @IvyPlant - this has been a great night-feed read!

UnavoidableTask · 24/09/2022 04:10

Should we all clap?

TooHotToRamble · 24/09/2022 04:32

"Forgot to attach the crucial identifying photo"

Oh I knew it was you! I'd recognise that forearm anywhere. 😬

WiddlinDiddlin · 24/09/2022 04:43

Ahh I can sleep soundly knowing somewhere in the world someone has actually confronted someone and got a reasonable and proportional outcome (and some squirming from the bloke involved).

I've had the odd conversation over the years with a bloke who continues to lie despite evidence, it's like theres a default setting just keep digging that can't be switched off until the game is completely up. Baffling to me but there you go.

custardbear · 24/09/2022 06:01

Well done @IvyPlant for holding your nerve and sorting the issue!

I assume by the fluffy blanket that's the woman's arm and not yours giving an example of the picture the camera provides? As she appears to be sporting a sizeable engagement ring?!

£425 a day !! £60 an hour! Bloody hell ! I'm waiting for a quote for a new kitchen and the electrician came round for a reccy the other day , I'd better brace myself!

Yep, I had two ceiling lights replaced recently, took hardly any time and as I had bought the lights he 'only' charged me the callout price. Wish I had become a sparks.

Well, he filled the kettle full nearly every time so it took a bloody age to boil let me tell you. Considering he was an electrician, he had no respect for electricity costs at all.

This thread is absolutely fabulous @IvyPlant , thank you so much! Well done for calling him out on it, cheeky f....

BorsetshireBanality · 24/09/2022 07:17

Sorry I doubted you IvyPlant.

Looking forward to watching “Off Duty”!

Forgot to attach crucial identifying photo.

That looks like a big ring on her left hand…

Mindymomo · 24/09/2022 07:33

Thanks for the update, joking aside, it couldn’t have been easy confronting him and it’s really out of order having someone round. My DH is a bathroom installer and has worked in a few houses with internal cameras, mainly to check on pets, but we’ve always said, they are probably checking up on his work. I’ve been to where he has been working, just to drop off something and have a look at his work. Some tell him cameras are there, some don’t. I don’t suppose he will be asking you to put a review on checkatrade and hope he’s learnt his lesson about having his lady friend around.

Where's the pic of them kissing gone? I swear I saw it yesterday with faces scrubbed out but can't see it now. Beginning to think I may have dreamed this now

Plus ... is there a glitch in that mumsnet posts things twice on this thread as it's just happened to me too (tears in the fabric of the Trumann sky or something)
