Apologies if there are other threads on this. How do we feel about it all? I don't particularly like a pile on but it seems like the tide has finally turned on these two. There was a time when everyone seemed to love them and their 'oh look we've turned up to a This Morning still pissed from an awards ceremony' was funny at the time. But I think it's gone to their heads and they've become more and more arrogant.

The queue jump situation for me was a clear sign of them thinking they are special, for want of a better phrase. Queuing showed dedication and respect but they just bypassed that. And the weak excuses since haven't helped at all. I see now Holly is consulting lawyers. It must be difficult for them to go on air knowing there's so much public bad feeling against them but I can't help but feel like they've had it coming for a while....

Anyone else?

Fed up with the constant allusions to Caroline Flack every time there's a negative media reaction to someone.

Caroline Flack was messed up and violent. There are quite a few stories about her and her behaviour.

The fact that the papers reported on the bloody scene left after she beat her partner with the base of a lamp does not mean they are responsible for her decision to take her life.

I agree, plus apparently she had ongoing mental health issues that her family & those close to her were well aware of.

The pile on wasn't nice and people are cruel though, so not trying to downplay that either.

@ParrotsAteThemAll love Eamonn saying it how it is when everyone else on tv is afraid to, ghastly Vanessa Feltz has shown her support saying how lovely they both are, but then she's also from the same itv stable so she would.

If they were doing nothing wrong why did she look so furtive in her mask nervously glancing back at Phil who had a face like thunder, you could clearly see members of the public right next to them. Im surprised she didn't bring her kids along too or maybe she did.

Radyward · 23/09/2022 07:24

The faux giggles / nnunendos / fake drunk on air after tv awards etc etx is soo contrived. The narrative pushed that they are so loved and popular is really wide off the mark..
in an era of carefully designed public images and the media telling the public what to think this is a massive pr disaster for the perfect pair

that aside.
They did queue jump. Their
Excuses are just so weak
Their sense of entitlement is grating on the public.
The excuse so polished on the audio.couldnt even do it to camera.
Phil make my skin crawl. Poor holly they have marketed themselves as " this lovable " package on tv and now they are stuck with each other.
The perition is growing .tbe court of public opinion is not on theiir side. Not sure they can brazen this out As its just not going away.
The event so historiic the piblic outpouring so fantastic..the effort ordinary joe public went to to honour the queen and these two walk past the whole exhausted cowd .
Press / journalists !what!! maybe did am item in take a break once !!
Their justification on air just doesnt wash. Yes they killed no one but its their holier than thoigh act on tv which has now been blown out of the water.publin images are seriously tainted at least for a while

My take on Phil and Holly is that they are difficult to take setiously now. After PS came out live on air and there were rumours he was seeing a lad from work, it felt disrespectful to his wife and kids. There was talk that Hollys husband would help her get some distance from PS careerwise after that but it didn't happen. She stood by PS and fair enough but something feels unethical and self serving - they seem like one and the same now. The viewers haven't forgotten and the truth is they have become unpopular.

So just unsubstantiated rumour and homophobia then. Nice…

Inkanta · 23/09/2022 07:56

It was a rumour yes. Homophobic not at all. This is where the unpopularity stems them in my opinion.

Definitely homophobic. You’ve only got to read the vomit emojis and the use of “cringe” accompanying comments about his coming out.

And what is the point of repeating rumour. Just makes you come across as small minded.

Inkanta · 23/09/2022 08:09

Definately not - give over.

lollipoprainbow · 23/09/2022 08:18

@Draughtycatflapreturns his coming out live on this morning with holly soothing him was utter utter utter cringe. Ruth asking him if he feels better like a mother to her child ! I wonder if she regrets that now.

Alltheholidays · 23/09/2022 08:21

It must have been utterly humiliating for his wife and kids. poor woman!

ilovebrie8 · 23/09/2022 08:32

@Radyward totally agree but somehow my post got deleted! @Inkanta i agree too this is my take on things too ...but my post was removed 🙄...truth hurts hey !

lollipoprainbow · 23/09/2022 08:58

@GrilledSneeze from what I've read she isnt always 'kind' I'm sure she'll be fine she has a very charmed life this is a mere blip for her.

Floweryflora · 23/09/2022 08:58

To be honest I’m not sure we can classify Caroline’s fight as petty. The blood stained images and ambulance etc was public info

lollipoprainbow · 23/09/2022 08:59

@GrilledSneeze also was it really a petty argument that Caroline had ????

CPL593H · 23/09/2022 09:16

@GrilledSneeze Caroline Flack was 40 when she died. HW is 41. Neither of them had fitted the definition of "girl" for a couple of decades. It is not food for thought, it is an example of infantilising mature women who get paid more money than most people can dream of for doing a public role of their choosing.

Anyway, in this instance the criticism is also directed at Phillip Schofield, or perhaps at 60 he is considered a "boy"?

Alltheholidays · 23/09/2022 10:22

It’s interesting people trying to play down flak’s voilence. She was a very troubled woman, but that doesn’t excuse her violent and abusive behaviour!
image if it was the other way round and she’d been the victim of male voilence!
Shocking hypocrisy!

Alltheholidays · 23/09/2022 10:23

I though HW was 48!!

Floweryflora · 23/09/2022 10:24

Agree if the genders were reversed in flacks case no one would be calling the man who did it a boy and saying it was a petty argument.

caroline was hounded but it was clearly much more complex than just media and no one is done any favours by down playing assault and domestic abuse. No one.

I'm not sure that starting a thread about something highly topical at the moment is 'hounding' anyone. It's been discussed everywhere.

Be kind doesn't mean ignoring shit behaviour either. Nobody would ever be challenged on anything if that were the case. I've seen that photo doing the rounds on Facebook this morning and eye rolled tbh.

I literally said in my op that I don't like a pile on but at the same time I do think the pair of them have ridden the gravy train for a long long time and are now being viewed differently by the public.

H&P are all over Twitter, as well , as gossip and celebrity sites.
Telling people to be kind for discussing a topical subject doesn’t cut it!
People refuse to be shut down any more by this!
