Apologies if there are other threads on this. How do we feel about it all? I don't particularly like a pile on but it seems like the tide has finally turned on these two. There was a time when everyone seemed to love them and their 'oh look we've turned up to a This Morning still pissed from an awards ceremony' was funny at the time. But I think it's gone to their heads and they've become more and more arrogant.

The queue jump situation for me was a clear sign of them thinking they are special, for want of a better phrase. Queuing showed dedication and respect but they just bypassed that. And the weak excuses since haven't helped at all. I see now Holly is consulting lawyers. It must be difficult for them to go on air knowing there's so much public bad feeling against them but I can't help but feel like they've had it coming for a while....

Anyone else?

It's not homophobic to not feel comfortable with PS - no one cares about his sexuality, but they do care about the rumours of him having a relationship with a much younger runner (where is the runner now, I wonder), the power imbalance if true, and the wife he has been married to for many years.
Holly's interview with him did make a lot of people cringe, simpering over someone who has lied for years!

Radyward · 23/09/2022 14:03

Like this will settle down and will continue as before with the inane guffawing BUT if Holly does im a celeb/ phil does the cube they wll be forever referred to by joe public as Q jumpers bo matter how they brave it out. Their brand image is tarnished

mydogisthebest · 23/09/2022 15:37

According to The Mail (so may not be true) they were heckled by people in the queue when they went to the lying in state. Supposedly they were told they should queue like everyone else

@GrilledSneeze - I don’t think that image has had the impact you thought it was going to have.

And no mention of the 60-odd year old ‘boy’ Phillip Schofield? Or do we only need to pause and be kind to fully-grown ‘girls’?

Covered on Have I Got News For You. Quite funny 😉

I wonder whether part of Holly's reaction (in particular) is the realisation that perhaps she's not universally adored by the general public. I wonder whether any This Morning viewers watch despite P&H, rather than because they like them as presenters.

It amazes me how sensitive people like Holly are to public criticism. If I was in the public eye, I'd assume that a significant proportion of people wouldn't like me, as I don't like everyone I meet. Are they so arrogant to assume that everyone loves them such that any criticism meets with crying and engaging of lawyers?

If so, that's pretty telling in itself. Frankly they're both pretty dim and uninspiring so they've done well to remain centre stage at ITV when fresh blood has been brought in elsewhere. I think they're probably more scared about some of the experiences of cast and crew coming out and shredding their Mr and Mrs Nice personas. In which case they only have themselves to blame, frankly.

lollipoprainbow · 25/09/2022 09:25

@red4321 she's been built up to believe she's princess holly, the guests and other presenters all fawn over her, she generally believes she's wonderful.

Spot on. Also I wonder if she's ever had any criticism. I doubt it. Welcome to the real world.

lollipoprainbow · 25/09/2022 10:02

She's never had to deal with the real world, her life is one charmed perfect bubble. She's overdue a swift dose of reality.

So this is the equivalent of doorstep gossiping. You've 'heard' something from someone but it may not be true, but you'll pass it on anyway.
Why would you do that? It is just becoming a pile on for the sake of it.

Alltheholidays · 25/09/2022 11:52

I actually think the queue thing is irrelevant now.- it is for me anyway, but yes, I’m sure they are arrogant enough to think that the normal rules only apply to the little people and they skipped the queue!

People are sick to death of them. Her little girl simpering and crying act is a fucking joke., and he’s an embarrassment with his cringy confessions and his attempt to stop discussion of his dodgy behaviour with super injunctions.
They (especially her) are only in the job because of who they know!

How did I "hear something" when it was in the paper? I didn't realise reading a paper and then repeating something was gossiping. Strange ideas you have.

I was just saying that even before the papers started printing the stories about the awful pair it seems some people were already not happy with their stuck up attitude.

I didnt say you heard it in the paper. I said it what you posted was the equivalent of hearing something that you dont know to be true but said it anyway. That is idle gossip.
You admit that the mail story may not be true but posted what they printed anyway. Just pointless.
And you say I have strange ideas!🤣

SplendidUtterly · 25/09/2022 14:53

But it may well be true. I would not be happy if I were in a queue for 16 hours and that arrogant pair rocked up and walked in. If true and I hope it is, it proves that they are not as popular as they think.

True journalists might not bother me but let's not pretend those two are anywhere near being journalists.

I guess no one should post anything they read in the papers because it may not be true.

jcyclops · 25/09/2022 15:25

President Biden has said the UK is at the back of the queue for a trade deal. Downing Street sources say Liz Truss is going to send in Phil & Holly.
