Holly and Phil

Apologies if there are other threads on this. How do we feel about it all? I don't particularly like a pile on but it seems like the tide has finally turned on these two. There was a time when everyone seemed to love them and their 'oh look we've turned up to a This Morning still pissed from an awards ceremony' was funny at the time. But I think it's gone to their heads and they've become more and more arrogant.

The queue jump situation for me was a clear sign of them thinking they are special, for want of a better phrase. Queuing showed dedication and respect but they just bypassed that. And the weak excuses since haven't helped at all. I see now Holly is consulting lawyers. It must be difficult for them to go on air knowing there's so much public bad feeling against them but I can't help but feel like they've had it coming for a while....

Anyone else?

OMG!! Holly and Phil were caught yesterday printing off the petition, wiping their arses, and giving them to Alison to make chavvy 3D Paddingtons.

You are right, this is about the third post on this subject. I’ve never like Phil, Holly is Ok. My adult DS said it was ok for him to stay on tv after he groomed a 19 year old boy, then came out as gay, but for queue jumping he should be sacked. They are definitely not the golden couple any more.

A 19 year old is not a boy.

I'm sure lots of celebs and others all jumped that queue at some stage.
They were probably given a pass by their friends who are MPs or other well knowns.
The backlash is because people don't like the presenters. The way I deal with it is don't watch it. It's drivel mostly anyway.

Nail on head.

1000s of celebrities have special privileges and special concessions, it's just the way of the world. Ditto rich people... (not famous just rich.) It's not fair, but then LIFE is not fair. I have not had certain favours and privileges and money given to me like some people I know. In fact, me and DH have had fuck-all given to us - ever. I used to get quite bitter and resentful, but I don't now, as I am happy with my life now. No mortgage, part time job I enjoy, very low outgoings, decent marriage, a gorgeous cat, several close friends, and several close family members, a wonderful adult daughter who is happy and successful, and I live in a beautiful area, not far from a flurry of hills and lakes.

Anyway, I digress. H & P have got way more privileges and riches in life than me, as have 100s of 1000s of others. I really don't give a shit, and I couldn't care less if they jumped the queue. As the poster above said ^ LOADS of famous people have special treatment, and most people don't seem to care! And I agree the call for their sacking is because they are disliked by quite a lot of people now - especially after the 'energy bills paid for 4 months' debacle on the spin-the-wheel game.

However, although I don't care that they cut in, I DO care that they are lying about it. They DID push in/jump the queue, and they are fervently denying it. People are pissed off they cut in, and although H & P thought 'explaining they were there for journalistic reasons' would calm people down; nobody is buying it. And everyone knows they are lying. If they WERE there for journalistic reasons, where is their story/the filming they did? I haven't seen it...

And yes, as the pp I quoted says, people are calling for them to be sacked because they don't like them. If it had been someone very popular/well loved, who very few people dislike (maybe Alison Hammond or Rylan) then I think people would have shaken their head and tutted, and then moved on. I do think though, that Alison or Rylan would have held their hands up and admitted it. H & P have lied about this, and they can't take it back now and admit they DID cut in line, because people will dislike them even more!!!

But saying they should be sacked for this is daft. They haven't killed someone FFS. They are not endearing themselves to anyone though by sticking to their (fake) story.

Did they just visit like the general public were doing or did they do film a segment there?

If they did a segment for This Morning then I don’t know what else people would expected them to do. If for a segment assuming there would also be camera people/crew etc. there too so why not pile on them too?

Imagine getting told you need to be somewhere for work, then getting bollocked by the public for going and doing your job. 🙄

No filming was allowed inside the abbey so there's absolutely no reason for them to say it was because they were "filming". Sorry if that's already been said I haven't RTFT.

Daytime TV is brain rot.

Mumofsend · 22/09/2022 16:31

The whole thing is utterly ridiculous and shows the media has learnt nothing after Caroline flack.

Of all the things to be outraged by, two TV presenters jobbing a queue is so far down the list of priorities it's laughable.

Nonsense, this is not the same as Caroline Flack at all. She physically assaulted someone and killed herself because she didn’t want to face up to the legal consequences of her crime. Totally different to Holly and Phil who have been a bit dickish but haven’t actually hurt anyone or broken any laws.

It is still an absolute media hounding. Hounding someone the way they did amd are is despicable.

Really? I didn't know those details about CF but I would bet my life it wasn't the legal consequences but the publicity consequences that would have tipped that one over the edge.

Had a look what she was charged with and...

What does assault by beating mean?
It is a type of common assault, which is is the lesser of three types of assault and involves either intentional or reckless acts. Battery is when a common assault involves violence in a way that results in a minor injury, tops. This can mean beating someone up, but also pushing, grabbing or spitting at someone.

Who knows whether the altercation was down to just her, him, or both, and what did she actually do? I doubt there would have been much legal recourse on something as minor as this.

I don’t think it’s on the same level as Caroline flack at all. She feared the body cam footage and how it would affect her career and had no help from ITV from what I gather. She deserved the same level of assistance, protection and support that Ant got. Little did everyone know it would have likely (or could’ve been) eclipsed by covid.

H&P jumped the queue, I think it’ll be forgotten about by Monday 🤷🏼‍♀️

Social media as well.

Time to stop this witch hunt against Holly and Phil I think.

ForeverbyJudyBlume · 22/09/2022 17:05

Which is exactly what Holly and Phil were doing - and reporting back just like CM. There's this idea you only count as "press" if you report from Ukraine. Anyone with a media accreditation could go in the "pen"

A 19 year old is not a boy.

No he’s been a grown up for a year which makes it a ok for someone knocking on sixty with s lot of power over them to go there.

aye.

@ForeverbyJudyBlume , I thought it was them going into the pen , implying that they queued then joining the public ( who had queued) on the carpet? It that not right then ?
so many stories doing the rounds

Has she No Shame!!!!!

There’s already a reporting ban on the rumour that she fracked her husband’s brains out!

I’m not in the UK, have never watched This Morning. I know who Phillip Schofield is because he used to present a music show here 30-odd years ago, but - surely it’s obvious that this vitriol is actually little to do with the queue jumping (given lots of others had similar excuses to jump, and did so). And much more to do with the fact that people actually just don’t like Phil and Holly.

VroomVrooom · 22/09/2022 19:08

Gawd, it was probably more like 40-odd years ago… 👵🏻

DuvetHugger · 22/09/2022 19:09

I'm not a fan of either of them but I must say, they've done absolutely nothing wrong.

People these days are so cruel and won't stop u till they destroy someone. There are far, far more important things to be worrying about ffs

Snoozer11 · 22/09/2022 19:26

Fed up with the constant allusions to Caroline Flack every time there's a negative media reaction to someone.

Caroline Flack was messed up and violent. There are quite a few stories about her and her behaviour.

The fact that the papers reported on the bloody scene left after she beat her partner with the base of a lamp does not mean they are responsible for her decision to take her life.
