He's into environmental issues, wants a slimmed down monarchy, embraces multiculturalism and his speech was warm and heartfelt.
He shook hands with the crowds outside the palace with genuine emotion.
I am not sure how i feel about how he treated Diana but he should always have married Camilla.

But the assistant or people who set it up,had one job!

He had so much pressure on him at that moment?

I think many people have shown understanding to him at that moment

Novella4 · 11/09/2022 12:16

@theworldhas

Interesting post.

I do think they need removed rather than allow the slow fade into obscurity as they have access to power and they secretly weild it for their own benefit . That's before the costs

BMW6 · 11/09/2022 12:19

I saw straight away that the side table with the documents on was too small and cluttered with the inkstand and pen holder. Someone didn't think it through.

The King did get tetchy for a couple of seconds - reminded me of Prince Philip.

No big deal.

kateandme · 11/09/2022 12:32

Oh come on he was not seething.he was having to try write over ten pens and an open bloody inkwell in front of millions and his mum just died.pressure much. He got in a squid and twice they kissed his struggle and left it.
so it was just like ah shit get it away!
his face was more I don’t no what to do here! Than angry

never thought I would be, but watching him navigate these past few days with such calmness has made me warm to old Chaz. Obviously I would not like to be an ink pot on his desk.

AuxArmesCitoyens · 11/09/2022 12:37

I think he is a petulant spoiled dick and a massive hypocrite on the environment.

Mamamia7962 · 11/09/2022 12:39

He wasn't angry at all, he looked more irritated and annoyed, and he didn't say anything rude just gestured for it to be moved. It would have looked more awkward if he'd tried to pick up the inkwells himself. Imagine if he'd dropped it whilst trying to hand it over.

Mamamia7962 · 11/09/2022 12:40

Just to add, the inkpot was a gift from William and Harry, so a lovely touch.

theworldhas · 11/09/2022 13:08

@AuxArmesCitoyens
Yep, studies have shown that Charles and his Mrs have a footprint roughly 100x that of a normal couple. In 2019 alone he made 22 trips by plane, 17 of which were by private jet. But maybe royal Co2 is less damaging!

AuxArmesCitoyens · 11/09/2022 13:26

yes, converting one old car to run on bio fuel while maintaining a fleet of twenty odd other cars for one man is the worst kind of greenwashing. I mean they use five or six cars to drive a hat about, FFS.

I loathe and despise the man and think he will make a terrible Head of State. I know lots of people who feel the same.

Of course many people disagree with us. I know that; I wonder if there are more that want him as Head of State, or more like me. What to do? Bit of a problem, huh?

Maybe ... just maybe, we could arrange together and have a vote to see where the majority lies on this. I would certainly swallow hard and accept a majority vote if it went against me.

I know some other countries do this with their Head of State. They call it an 'election'. Strange idea, I know, but does anyone think there's anything in it?

No.

It was the teeth baring that did it for me.

He was seething and had clearly forgotten the presence of the cameras.

You’ve stopped saying he hissed then? He wasn’t seething, he was mildly irritated. I can’t believe the judgement of a man who’s having to endure a massive burden of ceremonial and meetings a matter of hours after his mother died. Or obviously I can because republicans are never happy unless they’ve got something to bitch about.

NanaNelly · 11/09/2022 17:24

Maireas · 11/09/2022 11:50

I agree, it's all got a bit exaggerated.

Yes. It has.

It’s all nonsense. People didn’t pay attention to detail when they should have and a historical moment was slightly marred by it.

And the face he pulled - he was making light of needing help and again he shouldn’t have been put in that situation. Even then were a bit slow on reacting to the situation and prior to that you could see when Camilla went to sign the document she had to kind of curve her hand over the document to sign it. And at the end William had to put the lid back on the ink bottle in case it got knocked over the document.

Charles made a a deliberate and exaggerated theatrical face in order to let people see he needed help - not that he should have had to. There were enough organizers there to see what was going on and they should have been quicker off the mark.

The mask slipped and everyone saw it

Simple as that

PollyPeePants · 11/09/2022 17:49

I don't particularly mind him but I think this is a great time to get rid of the monarchy

Wanttobehappy123 · 11/09/2022 17:55

He comes across as entitled spoilt and I think the British people could find someone better to represent them. I also think he must be very fond of the booze. His face and nose are that of a heavy drinker. His fat fingers disgust me. I don’t mind camilla as much despite the fact she’s a home wrecker. William and Kate are fake as hell and completely out of touch with ordinary folk. Time to get rid

greenhousegal · 11/09/2022 17:57

Camilla's expression of pure fear said it all for me. I'd say she has seen other instances of his quick temper and petulance but that would not have been in public.

I saw a side of him that doesn't surprise me one bit. I very much doubt Queen Elizabeth would have reacted that way at all. Would she?

There are far too many people on this thread making lame excuses for the arrogant, childish and entitled behaviour of the Monarch who was in full public view. There is no excuse for it. None. Things go wrong sometimes, it is how you deal with them that is the measure of you as a decent person.

MarshaMelrose · 11/09/2022 18:02

I've sent the queen be sharp when people aren't doing what they're supposed to or something's out of place. Got to keep standards up.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 11/09/2022 18:18

even the queen would have shownn annoyance, she wouldnt have had so much flak from people

Blossomtoes · 11/09/2022 18:30

Camilla's expression of pure fear said it all for me.

You mean the expression you just made up. She looked pissed off on his behalf to me. Whoever set up that silly little undersized table fucked up. The one who was paid to get it right. They’re the one the criticism should be aimed at.

Did you see her in the clip? TBH it was the first thing I noticed. I realise she was standing behind him, but body language and signals can be felt just the same as if she was in front. And I have a feeling she has seen it before.

I cannot change my mind about this, and I'm afraid you and others making excuses for him won't either. It was appalling behaviour. Everyone knows it, but a minority of blinkered folk just will not see it. The Emperor's mask slipped new clothes and all that.

I agree. His environmental interests are genuine.

The whole mess with Diana was kind of his family's fault imo. He had the queen, PP, the qm and Louis mb all putting pressure on him to marry some posh blank slate of a virgin.

The queen had a good marriage but ibdont think anybody encouraged charl3s to find the right person for him. It all had to look right

I thought Louis Mountbatten died before they got engaged?

I also think he needs to put his money where his mouth is where the environment's concerned. He regularly flies for journeys that could be done by train and he should get a hybrid car!

Blossomtoes · 11/09/2022 18:49

Yes @greenhousegal, I did see her. And you’ve invented your interpretation to suit your agenda. I hope someone is looking after Camilla because she looks shellshocked and exhausted, the last four days must have been hellish for her with having to support her bereaved husband and deal with his family’s grief as well as her own. The burden we’re placing on those people is inhuman.
