He's into environmental issues, wants a slimmed down monarchy, embraces multiculturalism and his speech was warm and heartfelt.
He shook hands with the crowds outside the palace with genuine emotion.
I am not sure how i feel about how he treated Diana but he should always have married Camilla.

@Blossomtoes
"The burden we’re placing on those people is inhuman."

Let's stop the madness then

Blossomtoes · 11/09/2022 18:49

Yes @greenhousegal, I did see her. And you’ve invented your interpretation to suit your agenda. I hope someone is looking after Camilla because she looks shellshocked and exhausted, the last four days must have been hellish for her with having to support her bereaved husband and deal with his family’s grief as well as her own. The burden we’re placing on those people is inhuman.

And your own agenda is what may I ask?

Think about sycophancy and star struck and blind to reality, it might help you with your answer!

There is a hole in the dam on the way I feel, and we have had only three days of the king so far. Their wealth, lack of inheritance taxes, being above the law, wills being sealed (wonder why?) are being discussed on another thread.

People are waking up from their slumber.

Blossomtoes · 11/09/2022 19:07

My agenda is that I’m a monarchist. Simple as that. I manage that without being rude to people who disagree with me.

She does look shellshocked and at one stage on the day they returned to the Palace I thought she was going to faint.

He comes across as entitled spoilt and I think the British people could find someone better to represent them. I also think he must be very fond of the booze. His face and nose are that of a heavy drinker. His fat fingers disgust me. I don’t mind camilla as much despite the fact she’s a home wrecker. William and Kate are fake as hell and completely out of touch with ordinary folk. Time to get rid

Oh my goodness Wanttobehappy, I think you now hold the record for the most spite, personal meanness and judgement packed into a couple of sentences!

I hope you are a paragon of beauty yourself - 'fat fingers', indeed. You would have hated my dad, who had even fatter ones. And you can pick out the heavy drinkers by their faces and noses...blimey.

Camilla a home-wrecker....it's so much more complicated than that - didn't you know?

How do you know who is fake or out of touch? Do you have personal knowledge of these people? William and Kate and all of them have to play a professional role - of course they need a public persona. Duh!

What a ridiculous, shallow, half-witted post. You get the prize if I'm any judge!

I’m not a passionate monarchist either, but the man has just lost his mother and is shattered. They are human. Cut him some slack fgs.

MarshaMelrose · 11/09/2022 19:25

I think she has health problems. Her heart maybe? But I know when they've done tours, she has left early or missed days because of exhaustion. So I'm not surprised she looks tired.

Spudina · 11/09/2022 19:26

I do to a point. His environmentalism I love. But his tantrum at his official signing in thingy and getting someone to move something he could have just moved his bloody self, is a reality check.

J0y · 11/09/2022 20:08

I dont think w&k are fake! They're just not struggling to disguise any real selves that are "counter" to monarchy. They get that it's about duty. They want to get it right. They want to perpetuate the monarchy. They socialise with their trusted friends so they have good lives. Not saying they're martyrs making huge sacrifices. It's a privileged meaningful life qnd they know that.

CathyorClaire · 11/09/2022 21:11

You’ve stopped saying he hissed then?

I can say it if you like.

Because he did.

The thing I find hard to understand about the Savile connection is the security forces role in it. You'd expect him to have been vetted to the nth degree before having access to the Palace, Highgrove and Charles swanning off to spend time with him in his Glencoe cottage. Either they didn't do much of a job or Charles overrode their concerns. Then there was Mountbatten, Charles mentor, another paedo according to FBI files. Plus the paedo bishop, Peter Ball, another of Charles' pals. This is all documented stuff. That's an awful lot of skeletons rattling around the closet

Yes, I wondered how vetting didn't weed Savile out. I saw Savile on TV as a child and thought him terrifying, quite obviously not right. Plus, people knew at the BBC as well, so it is very strange. Diana didn't like Savile, apparently, but I suppose nobody listened to her.

VanishingViolet · 11/09/2022 22:08

I went through a spell of not liking Charles, it wasn’t Diana’s fault that Charles couldn’t be with Camilla and yet she was embroiled in their need to be together! I felt incredibly sorry for Diana and was heartbroken when she died in such tragic circumstances.

I’ve mellowed my view of both Charles & Camilla over the years, but it has taken years.

I think Camilla has had a hard time and has proved herself to the nation, she’s made Charles happy these past 15 or so years and William and Harry seem to like her, so that’s good enough for me.

I really think that King Charles will be a great Monarch, even though he has HUGE shoes to fill.

Endlesssummer2022 · 11/09/2022 22:42

I like him too, have actually met him (very briefly) and he was lovely. I took his speech as saying he loves and will protect both of his children and their wives which was lovely to hear. Very glad that he also cares so much about the environment, hopefully he’ll keep the government on their toes in that regard.

Mamamia7962 · 11/09/2022 22:42

CathyorClaire · 12/09/2022 09:52

Diana didn't like Savile, apparently, but I suppose nobody listened to her

There are conflicting reports on her feelings towards Savile and there are plenty of pictures of the pair together although that doesn't mean a lot as he gravitated towards many of the rich and famous.

What is beyond doubt is that Charles enlisted his help as a 'counsellor' as their marriage fell apart and was friendly enough with him to attend private dinners at his house.

NellesVilla · 12/09/2022 10:06

I’m sure that Charles is relieved that most of mumsnet seem to approve of him. Phew!

MrsLargeEmbodied · 12/09/2022 10:29

he seems decent
i worry that he will not be popular and i worry for camilla

eldora · 12/09/2022 10:30

I am bemused about people worrying about extremely privileged people who don't even have to more their own pens but have serfs to do it.

They also seem to live into to their 90s so not sure what the worry is.

zingally · 12/09/2022 10:36

I thought he did really well with his speeches and what-not, UNTIL he started fussing over those pens and ink pots at the accession ceremony on Saturday! Flicking his hands at them, until one of his minions moved them away. Do your own hands not work? All well and good, until William came to sign, and had to gesture for a pen!

I'm trying to chalk it up as a mis-judged response to something he hadn't anticipated, because of nerves.

No, some people saw what they wanted to and were extremely rude to anyone who disagreed.

Novella4 · 12/09/2022 11:51

Sure.

You don't see it.

Others do.
