He's into environmental issues, wants a slimmed down monarchy, embraces multiculturalism and his speech was warm and heartfelt.
He shook hands with the crowds outside the palace with genuine emotion.
I am not sure how i feel about how he treated Diana but he should always have married Camilla.

The kindest thing one can say about someone who maintained a personal relationship with Jimmy Savile for 20 years is that they have piss-poor judgement

Not his best call, for sure. But Savile got away with his hideous crimes by being skilfully manipulative, charming and convincing over many years, as is often the case with psychopaths. Charles was far from being the only one fooled.

The bags of cash business will need to be a thing of the past, though.

Many people express that sentiment. I'm not making it up, but neither am I going to trawl around for examples for you.

Nothing is worse for the "little people" than people seeking power. Left, right, it doesn't matter - nor if that power is delivered by a vote. It always, always, involves some sector of the "little people" getting trampled on. And so the cycle continues.

I'm not a monarchist - my world vision involves nothing near to any form of power. But in the world that we live in, I do not believe that it is possible to deliver a regime change without some other set of bastards getting in power.

You can't just come on a thread, accuse people on here of demanding a revolution and then not provide any examples of where anyone said that. I've read this whole thread, no one is asking for a revolution. Wanting a democratic vote on the monarchy is not "the little people seeking power", what a strange thing to say 🤔

The thing I find hard to understand about the Savile connection is the security forces role in it. You'd expect him to have been vetted to the nth degree before having access to the Palace, Highgrove and Charles swanning off to spend time with him in his Glencoe cottage. Either they didn't do much of a job or Charles overrode their concerns. Then there was Mountbatten, Charles mentor, another paedo according to FBI files. Plus the paedo bishop, Peter Ball, another of Charles' pals. This is all documented stuff. That's an awful lot of skeletons rattling around the closet

ThreeLocusts · 10/09/2022 14:47

Jeez... he's 'into environmental issues' while regularly using helicopters to circumvent London traffic, failing to pay taxes on unearned income from inherited land holdings while talking about kindness and stuff, and instrumental in keeping in place a corrupt, hyperprivileged, parasitic establishment that has sat back while their Tory allies shredded what was left of the welfare state after Thatcher.

He may be a nice enough bloke to meet at a function, but that is not what matters about him.

BuckarooBanzai · 10/09/2022 14:52

I think he could be the right man (King) for the moment. We certainly need to be focused on environmental issues right now.

greenhousegal · 10/09/2022 17:37

Lovely man indeed.... I can hardly believe what I am watching here.

@greenhousegal

Yes I wondered why there was an immediate thread started about how 'funny' it was .
Damage control .
They'll be busy

I know. I also thought there was a look of terror in Camilla's expression, as if she was afraid he was going to explode.

mynamesnotMa · 10/09/2022 18:21

I like him and Camilla they seem very much in love

mynamesnotMa · 10/09/2022 18:26

I'd really like him if he slimmed down the monarcy. We can't afford all of them. They've had the best education and connections let them get jobs with no need for tax payers money.

Namenic · 10/09/2022 18:33

I like him. I think the Diana and Camilla thing wasn’t right, but we all make mistakes. He seems sincere in wanting to make a positive difference to people.

peachescariad · 10/09/2022 18:47

I like him too. He'll be a great King.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 10/09/2022 19:00

he is a forward thinking person,
he will have the climate high on his agenda, it already has been for years

Agree with you, but then Andrew was protected by the Queen so it's clearly something that doesn't bother them

Camilla looked mortified.

been and done it. · 10/09/2022 22:17

I liked his speech too. It must be such a bitter sweet time for him..at last he's fulfilling his destiny but at the cost of losing the mother he adored. I think, taking everything into consideration, its time for a radical change of the Monarchy and together with William and Kate he will do well going forward.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 10/09/2022 22:37

I too, like him and I do think he will make a great king
Him and Camilla are a strong team
It was the queens wish that she would be queen Consort

Blossomtoes · 10/09/2022 22:51

The things we expect from these people are beyond human sometimes

This. The stress of having to do all this stuff a matter of hours after his mother’s death must be almost beyond endurance. His interaction with the crowds two days running leads me to believe he’ll be a good monarch.

I'm staggered that people are blaming him for the small desk and no where to sign!

It's extraordinary!

J0y · 11/09/2022 07:40

Oh boy, he does have a "minion!! Move this!!" expectation

It a shame the table was way too small for what needed to be done and even when it should have been obvious to those who organized the proceedings that he needed help, not one, but twice, that no one noticed quickly enough. Even at the end of it William had to screw the lid back on the ink bottle as no one else thought to themselves that’s an accident waiting to happen on an historical document that will be viewed hundreds of years from now.
